This place is my favorite for tiffins. I always come here for the ghee karan idly the taste is indescribable and I love it so much. The peanut chutney is just wow no one in the city can match it. You feel like you're eating it back home in India. I've been to this place hundreds of times and I never get bored. I always love going there because of the tiffins they make, and the dosa and puri they make the best. It's like homely tiffins I can say. The chai not the Irani chai but the regular one, is so good. Is there a way to give zero stars? I came here because of a recommendation from my cousin. I was looking for a place to cater an upcoming Diwali event. I wanted to try a dish or 2 before placing such a large order ...as one does. This place is f****** horrible at even the basic, initial customer service. I walked into the restaurant side of it and there were two guys just sitting there talking on the phone and the whole place was empty. I thought the two guys were customers. I assumed that side was closed so I walked next door to what looked like a fast food joint. There were four or five customers sitting and two ladies behind the counter, but they seemed to be just having their own conversation and not even paying attention to anything. I tried to get their attention to see if I can order anything, but no response.. One of them just walked out. I went back to the actual restaurant and just asked the guy behind a table of chafing dishes if the place was open. He said yes. So did the guests sitting at the table. The two gentlemen sitting at the table, from previous mention, stated that the restaurant was open. So I asked, well, may I get some food? They stated that somebody will serve me next door. The fast food place. I said okay. I went back to the fast food place and again no acknowledgment. The two gentlemen, then, came to the fast food side and just looked around and told me this side is open. Again, there's no one to take my order. The gentleman didn't even inquire what I wanted or get the attention of the person behind the counter. How do I even begin to place my order if there is no one to acknowledge the fact that I want to place an order for 150 people....when they are just in their own world? I mean....how oblivious can one be when a customer ends up waving their arms to get someone... anyone's...attention to simply place an order. In today's world, when a person makes a conscious decision to actually drive to a restaurant to order the food.... That person is really looking forward to that food. When you get hit with ..not just a totally ignoring moment by the staff...but...managers/owners (assuming those 2 guys had a stake in the restaurant)....why would you want to even bother? There are plenty of amazing Indian restaurants, especially in this area, that provide the most unique flavors. Look there. Upon arrival, the first thing that stuck out to me is the many items at the buffet line. I was pretty impressed with the Decour and the ambience of the restaurant. First off, the place is laid out in a none traditional way and confused me.. I walked in and up to the "please wait to be seated sign" was there for 3-5 minutes, no one approached me. I walked into the next room where workers were and a crude warming hutch that I guess had food in it. I made noise, asked where is a menu, how do I order etc? The only person to answer was a customer. He said "just go over there" and pointed at sort of what looked like an order station. But it wasn't. Onion Pakora - When fresh, they are amazing. So crispy and satisfying to bite into. I went back to get several servings. Chicken Curry - Damn good. Spicy, hearty, and overall spoon shoveling good. They have a good amount of south Indian dishes that I unfortunately know little about. I didnt eat much of it, since its quite filling, but the stuff I tasted wasn't bad. So I make sure to have the traditional south Indian breakfast here. We started to run around 9 am and luckily the weather here today is pretty good. We reached this place around 9.50am and place is empty except one person and later people slowly came in. The place seems to have been renovated and it was pretty nice and calm . They had a bar but serve alcohol only from lunch.Some staff already working on the lunch buffet while few work on the breakfast orders. We can order individual items or combo. My friend ordered a individual Item while we ordered combo which consists of 3 items(7.99 plus tax). 3 combo consists of: 1 Idly( steamed made from rice flour n lentil) 1 Dosa(rice crepe made of rice flour) 2 Poori(deep fried in oil) Sambar(Lentil soup) Coconut Chutney( garlic,coconut,chilli n some spices) Peanut chutney Potato curry( For poori) Indian Chai The dosa , Idly and Chai were pretty good. A very nice place especially for those who love spicy food. If you are from Andhrapradesh, India you will love this place. The food specifically made for you. Buffet has over 25+ items. 4 different kinds of rice, 5 different appetizer items and many veg and non veg items. My family like Chicken Tikka Masala and Samosa. That is the one main thing they go to an Indian restaurant. But I like variety of items. But today's visit was kind of a turn off for my family. Because there was no chicken tikka masala!!!??? What??? Why in the world you remove that item from the buffet? Anyway, after a long time, the manager came and offered to make Chicken Tikka Masala as the part of the buffet. So I am glad that he went out of his way to do that. I only wish it was done at the beginning. I don't go to a Indian restaurant with a very nice clothes or with jacket on. Because by the time you get out of that place your clothes will smell like curry and even your smell like that later. But this place has good vents and has very pleasant atmosphere. One of the worst decisions i have made was coming here. If "Fine Dine" is what you're looking for, go look somewhere else. The food takes excessively long, and is not even satisfying. The staff looks like they don't care if you are happy or satisfied, seems like they have given up on the restaurant as well. These photos did not even begin to cover the disgusting conditions the restaurant is in. If this is how you leave the area where customers eat, i cannot begin to wonder how the back kitchen looks. Co-worker suggested this place for the team to meetup for lunch. We arrived about 1 pm and they quickly seated the 8 of us. Buffet of course, and it was very well organized. Lots of different selections and areas (dessert separate from the main dishes, separate tea area). Enjoyed everything I selected (sorry, I don't know what I selected by name...need to fix that) tasted great! Good mix of spice level and items that were not spicy. Service...well they lost a star there...seems like the person working wasn't very interested in keeping up with our waters and other requests (one person asked for a Sprite, and they didn't have that). Guess they do enough take out business to have a separate entrance for just take out. No doubt the food is the same great quality! Their buffet is phenomenal! Out of all the Indian food and Indian buffets I've had, this place is amazing! Both my company and I agreed because the food .... For one, the way they preserved the freshness of food was unique and effective. Some of the problems you run into with Indian buffets is dryness with food. Secondly, there was an unbelievable variety of food. Normally I come across four type of dishes that are repetitive. Third, the flavors weren't diluted to "suit the masses". It wasn't overpowering, but most often buffets will lower the spiciness to appeal to the general public. I can't handle super spicy and it was just enough for me. On the other hand, my company enjoys super spicy food and the food there accommodated for his particular taste as well. This place is purely authentic Indian flavored food. Plus! the desert was very delicious. I had the flan and Kiwi pastry sponge cake. The flan was unique in that it had more of a ice cream texture but I loved it entirely. The sponge cake was very flavorful and had the perfect balance of moist/fluffiness. Lastly, the service was fantastic. They were very attentive. Our waters were always filled and for the spicy food, the waiter recommended some yogurt for the instance we needed to tone down on it. The waiters stopped by a good number of times to make sure we were doing well which can be unheard of at a buffet. The chef/owner was also out giving recommendations!
