Honest is a chain so I do understand certain things are standard but, I'm also shocked by the level of service that is given at these staple Indian restaurants. This was not a busy evening and we were seated right away and able to give our order but, the server who should have been following up on us was unable too which led the only other server to be able to not be available as much. We ordered chaat which was nothing special, i make better at home and a masala pav bhaji with cheese which was also ok. It innovative but, the delivery lacked. The chai was good and i enjoyed that. Overall just an okay experience, a quick stop if you go but, you're not really missing much. read more

Honest Restaurant - Cheese masala Bhaji Pav - Vegetarian Near Me - Irving, Texas

This place has so many options! both meat and vegetarian! Our group was pretty big, so they accommodated us in many ways. They were pretty nice too. Our servers make sure our waters were refilled at all times. All of the dishes I tried were so amazing! We ordered family-style so everyone could try multiple things. Also ordered a bunch of naan, which was so soft and yummy, and it paired well with many of the other dishes. Mango lassi was also refreshing and sweet, which helped with the spice of many of the dishes. The inside is not the cleanest, but there are large and small tables for groups of all sizes. They also sell baked goods and desserts in the front near the cashier. Parking is super easy, and there's a large lot in front read more

I have never been to a vegetarian restaurant truth be told. Especially one that I truly enjoyed. My In-Laws are Vegetarian so they wanted to try out this place. I wasn't really expecting much however I was definitely blown out of the water by how good this restaurant was. Everything was amazing and tasted sooooo delicious. Every single dish had its own uniqueness to it that I was truly satisfied with by the end of it. Will be back definitely one day. Taste- 9/10 Atmosphere- 7/10 Service - 8/10 read more

I had an incredible experience here and the food was phenomenal all around. There were so many options on the menu and everything looked so appetizing. We ordered the pav bhaji which was probably our favorite dish. Next would probably be the bakri pizza or the dahi puri -- both were incredibly flavorful. We also ordered the paneer tikka masala which was good but not at the level of the other dishes we had ordered. The service was fast and very kind to us. We will definitely be coming back here regularly, especially for the pav bhaji! read more

All time best authentic, Indian vegetarian restaurant. There is no non-veg item at this restaurant. If you're looking for some meat go somewhere else, but if you're open minded 1000%, check this out. Yes this is vegetarian friendly, and bit of vegan options. Spicy level of the food is there. Yes this franchise did start in Indian and it's here. The items you see in here you most likely will not see it in other Indian restaurants. Maybe in pure veg Indian restaurants but the rest no. Food is amazing, drinks are great. Brings me back home. read more

I've tried Honest Restaurants many times over the last few years and sampled a variety of their dishes--rajma chawal, kadhi pakora, bhel, samosas, and especially their vegetable sandwich, which had been my favorite. However, I was very disappointed to recently learn that much of their food actually comes pre-prepared from India. That means it's not truly fresh, which was very surprising and honestly felt deceptive. While the sandwiches may be made fresh due to their nature, the rest of the menu just doesn't have the same appeal once you know this. The flavors are tasty, so if you're fine with pre-prepared food then you may still enjoy it. But for me, the lack of freshness and transparency has been a dealbreaker. I won't be returning to any of their locations again. read more

Honestly, Honest is Honest about their food. It's fresh, tasty and a holy feeling to it. Even though veg only, our kids also find items they can eat at this place. Their service is decent and the ambiance is elegant. Very neat presentation read more

This is our go to Indian food spot in Dallas, we love it! Honest-ly everything is so good here. We love the mago lassi, Pav Bhaji, paneer masala. We like eating at the restaurant but it's also nice to get some take out. I will say that the restaurant can be really busy and a little loud. read more

good vegetarian options, pao bhai- could have the right quantity of Pao. but tastes well. so not a complaint but recommendation. 5/5 dahi Bhalla nicely done. right spice level, could add some more dahi and chutney. 4/5 would not order Falooda again :(. shahi paneer/ naan combination was best of three food items we ordered. 5/5 service staff was nice and cordial(5/5), ambiance was 4/5. read more

solid Indian restaurant. Good enough for the gringos and still spicy enough for my fellow Indians. Service here was quick, price was very reasonable, and food was pretty good. I highly recommend getting the dosas, bahubali sandwich, and the nutella shake. if you're feeling adventurous i'd go for the mango lassi. read more

January 2022 Honest restaurant has a large footprint not only in the US, but overseas as well. This restaurant, with its roots tied deeply into Indian cuisine and culture, provides an extensive menu from appetizers, chaat, sandwiches and main course. If you're visiting honest restaurants, the main attraction is always going to revolve around chaat and appetizers. I visited for dinner on a Sunday. I was delighted with the quick service. We ordered a bunch of things off of the menu and everything was served in a timely manner. The food - Bhaji pav, Dabang Dosa, Kattapa Sandwich and Chinese bhel. The Pav Bhaji had that nostalgic Indian street style flavor, the Sandwich was a wild card loaded with cheese and good flavor while the Chinese bhel was loved by everyone for its fiery attitude and crunchy bits. The dosa, however, left us wanting for more. Overall, was this the best chaat that I've ever had? NO. Was this the best Honest restaurant that I've ever visited? NO. Is it good for the price? Absolutely YES. Everything that we ordered was tasty, the service was amicable and the place was big with good amount of seating space. There's a big parking lot outside so you shouldn't have a problem finding a parking space. This restaurant is good for family, friends and colleagues alike. read more

This place is an awesome place to go to for quick bites and fast service. The ambiance is always good with music and talking. The restaurant is also very clean. The service is lightning quick with 6 servers and 2 cleaners in the front. The food was absolutely amazing as always. The paneer butter masala was spot on. The Manchurian medley was flavorful. Only negative was the paper thin dosa. It felt like eating rice paper or papad. Overall pretty good read more

I was very happy to find this restaurant at the intersection of 635 W and MacArthur next to the Patel Bro's grocery store. The menu is fully vegetarian with many menu options. To be honest, this place was good not amazing. I had heard so much about this place, so I was very excited to try it out. Even on a week day afternoon it was relatively crowded. When we asked the waitress about the most popular dishes, she said everything...then we asked about her favorite dish and she said everything again. On a store boasting about honest, we thought this was humorous. Ultimately, we decided to try out the Bahubali Sandwich and Dabang Dosa after asking a friend about their favorite dishes. I have to say in comparison to other similar Indian restaurants, we felt like this place was slightly overpriced. The Dabang Dosa was good- almost like a dosa filled with veggies topped with cheese. The tomato chutney was pretty good. I'm not sure I would necessarily get it again, but it was different. The Bahubali Sandwich was like a fancy Bombay style sandwich. It is like a beet sandwich with pineapple chutney topped with cheese. Also different but not amazing. The one thing that was good was the serving size was pretty good for two people (we even took some home) and the presentation was good. The food also came out very quickly. If you are looking for something different, this place offers that. However, for the staple Indian dishes, I would go somewhere else. read more

My wife and I have been ordering takeout from here for over a year now. The food is excellent but lately they have started giving substantially less rice with entrees. Honest - Irving . I visit this location often . It seems that 2/3 times my order is messed up and Taste is inconsistent. I got spicy pav bhaji dosa last night and they put bunch of cut green chillies which was extremely spicy and not eatable . In the past they have made it spicy eatable with Indian masala which was nice . I got paneer chilli gravy and they literally put 5 pieces of paneer . The food is inconsistent. I have ordered dosa in the past and they have made it extremely crispy to the extent it would break when I try to eat with bhaji which I got on side . read more

This place has been a hit or miss for me. Out of 5 times I got food from here, 3 times it was amazing and 2 times it was a disappointment. Previously we had 'dabang dosa' 'bahubali sandwich' and 'paneer king sandwich'. That was all good. Last time we got a to go, it was all a stale and bad quality food. Vadapav- stale, re-fried and burnt. No garlic chutney. Bread was stale. Chinese bhel- was more like soft hakka noodles with stale, greasy Manchurian balls. Big pieces of raw onions. Sandwich- soggy. read more

I would start by saying that avoid this restaurant and visit the one in McKinney. It is 100x better. The first time I went to this restaurant, I ordered vada pav and pav bhaji. Vada pav was way too oily like it was refried multiple times and pav bhaji was just meh. Not knowing any better, I went to this restaurant again and ordered masala tea, sev puri, vada pav, triple schezwan rice (TSR) and manchurian gravy (no gravy is served with TSR). Sev puri had so much sev that I had trouble finding the puri (check image). Also, there was no adequate amount of chutney which made it really dry. Vada pav had so much oil and butter that your cholestrol would jump up by several points and they even had sev in their vada pav! Manchurian gravy had a good taste (only thing that avoided a 1 star). Triple schezwan rice had paneer (who puts it in TSR), manchurian and gobi manchurian. Sadly there were no noodles in TSR. The manchurian was way too oily (seemed refried) and didn't taste good. I won't be visiting this location again and will stick with the one in McKinney read more

Authentic, fresh, delicious and some of the finest INDIAN VEGETARIAN STREET and CASUAL FOOD at the just opened HONEST RESTAURANT in Irving - Check it out! One of my fondest memories of growing in BOMBAY (today's MUMBAI) is the unspeakably tantalizing STREET FOOD like BOMBAY CHAAT, PAU WADA, PAU BHAJI, DABELI as well as the extraordinary SOUTH-INDIAN (IDLY-WADA-DOSA-UTHAPPAMS) and PUNJABI Staples (SAMOSAS, CHOLE BHATURE, PURI BHAJI) which I have missed in the US and especially in DALLAS! My yearning and angst has been answered with the opening of the HONEST RESTAURANT in my neck of the woods in Irving (at the location of the former BOMBAY SIZZLERS) which literally offers some of the FINEST INDIAN VEGETARIAN CUISINE that I have had in the DFW METROPLEX, over the last 20 years, which makes me a very happy camper! With its origins from a humble and modest family run street cart in AHMEDABAD in 1975, in the West-Indian state of GUJARAT renowned for its legendary entrepreneurship, HONEST RESTAURANT offers a tantalizing SMORGASBORD of STREET FOOD from MUMBAI and NORTH+ SOUTH INDIAN STAPLES as well as INDO-CHINESE (listed above) that you will savor with your family and friends, which is well complemented by their excellent customer service and humility which is indeed a breath of fresh air. They have actually "imported their Chefs" who come trained by the HONEST RESTAURANT folks in INDIA, to ensure an authentic replication of the delicacies that HONEST has built a global brand on, with restaurants across the USA and CANADA! So what makes the offering at HONEST RESTAURANT different from other INDIAN VEGETARIAN establishments like the SARAVANNA BHAVAN, BOMBAY CHOWPATTY and GOPAL? * HONEST offers unbelievably fresh and high-quality ingredients which palpably illuminates your palate! For instance the puffed rice and the chutneys used in the BOMBAY CHAAT transponded me to an establishment in BOMBAY called 'GURU KRIPA' which is celebrated for some of the finest BOMBAY CHAAT in that metropolis, and is way better than anything I have had in the DFW METROPLEX! As well their BAHUBALI, KATAPPA and HONEST SPECIAL SANDWICHES are amazing innovative takeoffs on the iconic CHUTNEY SANDWICH (which sustained us in school and college) and highly recommended! * The PUNJABI (NORTH-INDIAN) Delicacies like CHOLE BHATURE / CHOLE PURI are served piping hot and presented well, and the spices can be personalized to your palate while you order. My wife found the chole a bit bland for her taste and they promptly prepared a new order spiced to her taste, with no questions asked. * Most of all, their SOUTH-INDIAN DELICACIES (made by chefs from GUJARAT) literally blew me away! The ONION CHILI RAWA MASALA DOSA was far better (crisp, flavorful, with the aroma of DESI GHEE) than the one that we go to SARAVANNA BHAVAN, which is quite a feat! Equally compelling was the presentation and packaging of their novel 'DABANG DOSA' in bite sized chunks which we enjoyed and highly recommend! Given that many of our "FOOD-BUDDIES" in this community are VEGETARIAN, or enjoy VEGETARIAN DELICACIES, I would strongly recommend that you check out the newly opened HONEST RESTAURANT in IRVING (the very first one in DFW opened in McKINNEY but has a different menu) at your earliest and let me know what you think...BON APPETIT! Check it out: HONEST INDIAN VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT 8170 Walton Blvd, Irving, TX 75063. Tel # (972) 707-0000. Bon Appetit! I was in Irving and I read a lot of reviews about this place and wanted to try it out for myself. I ordered the pav bhaji & dahi puri for starters. They were quick with the service and I was really impressed. It did remind me of the authentic Indian food we get back home with an obviously 21st century touch to it! For the main course I had ordered Paneer paratha and Aloo Mutter. The paratha was soft and stuffing was ample, not too oily and the curry had just the right amount of spice and cooked to perfection. Overall, I'm satisfied with this experience and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try Indian vegetarian food. They also do have vegan options for anyone concerned. P.S. the photo is from the leftover I took home plus the curry I had cooked. read more

Food I'd very good, plenty of vegetarian selection. Service needs to be trained for being orderly and polite. We found service to be F grade. Specifically, wrong orders delivered, did not wait for feedback, and had to take it to the counter. This shows the lack of training in a manner to serve the food. Anyway, next time we will keep in mind this shortcoming and order one thing at a time to avoid snafu. read more

This review will explain all the food for Indian food newbies; those familiar with the cuisine should skip this part. I got a masala dosa (thin crepe made from fermented lentil batter, with spiced potato filling) and mysore cheese rava dosa (crepe made from semolina wheat flour, with spices and cheese) to go, both ordered mild. The potato filling came on the side, so the dosa didn't get soggy. Both were served with coconut chutney (a delicious thick sauce you dip the dosa in) and a big portion of sambar (a truly excellent lentil soup; one of the better ones I've tried, for sure.) Everything was *fantastic*: big portions for a good price (around $9- $10 per dosa), and super flavorful. We got our food take-out, and ate it in the car (as we were en route to the airport.) Since dosa is normally eaten with your hands, they didn't include any utensils, which meant we had to drink the soup. This wasn't a problem, but be warned - ask for a spoon if you want one! In December 2021 (as cases of COVID are starting to spike), employees all had masks inside, which I appreciate. If you're heading to or from DFW airport from Dallas, this is a super convenient stop, as it's right off the highway; you don't really have to go out of your way at all. We stopped for dosa on our way to DFW airport, and plan to stop again after I return! read more
