This place has been on my 'try' list for years, but we're solid devotees of Our Place, so it just hadn't happened. However, Saturday night our usual place was unexpectedly closed, so we tried India 101. Why had we deprived ourselves for so long!? We were so pleased with our dining experience and with the variety and quality of the food. We walked in, were quickly greeted, led to a table, and were provided ice water. The hostess told us we could grab plates and utensils and enjoy the buffet at our own pace. We're vegetarian and found many dishes to eat: palak/saag paneer, paneer tika masala, pakoras, veg biryani, veg Manchurian, naan, roti, pani puri, samosas, mango lassi, a soda fountain, raita, and on and on and on. Your dirty dishes are quickly taken away by efficient staff, so grab a fresh plate when you return (and you WILL return) to the buffet. Great buffet options to try Indian food. Overall was not impressed with food. The best thing about it was the descriptions on each sign of what's on buffet to try. I've been here few times and this past Sunday was the best food. Fortunately they've changed up the menu a bit and it's not the same old food over and over again. It was not crowded! Waiter was very quick with service which made the visit more enjoyable. My family and I hosted a bday party for my uncle who is a Pastor and we had about 60 guests on a Saturday night. We had a DJ, MC, decor company who was a family member and food was provided. They have separate large rooms here so you can have a lot of events here. Vincent took really really good care of us on Saturday night. He was attentive and extremely helpful. He got us everything we needed in a timely manner. Please recognize him!! The food was good. Very authentic Indian food buffet so if you're unfamiliar with Indian dishes this is a great place to come try it. Many vegan and vegetarian options and it worked well for our party. Some of the dishes were a bit more bland compared to some other places I've been too, like their butter chicken and especially the chicken briyani. I am genuinely torn between two conflicting emotions. On one hand, I can see the investment, the thoughtfulness, the sheer intent: leasing such a spacious venue, crafting the cool decor, assembling a small army of helpful staff, and curating the vision of an expansive, ambitious multi-cuisine spread. On the other hand, I am equally appalled by the glaring lack of effort (or skill) when it comes to actually preparing the food. Guys, you have spared no expense! You're buying all the right ingredients. You've planned a genuinely superltive buffet lineup. But it's all taking a brutal kick in the crotch because the cooking team isn't spending the extra 45 mins required to make the dishes taste like what they're supposed to be, rather than merely looking the part. It's like you built a five-star theatre, installed the best seats and lighting, got award-winning writers for the script. But you handed the acting to a bunch of extras whose only claim to fame is playing trees in a school play... and still losing the spotlight to an actual potted plant. The tamarind chutney was sour (not tangy) and tasted of raw tamarind. Just spend 15 more minutes reducing and caramelizing it, and balance the tartness with some sweetness (dates, sugar, molasses, whatever). The suji halwa felt like a clump of soggy dough. This happens when you don't roast the suji properly and pour in cold or lukewarm water instead of boiling hot. It's a 20-minute fix. The golgappa water tasted like someone tripped and fell into it holding a bag of salt. You'd get better paani from a store-bought masala packet. The gajar ka halwa was pasty and tasted 'boiled.' Again, roast the carrots in ghee till the rawness is gone. Use khoya instead of boiling it in milk. And bump the ghee a tad. 30-mins fix, tops. About the Gulab Jamuns: with utmost respect, please let them go. They have strayed too far down the forbidden path to be rescued. It is genuinely better to not serve GJs at all than to serve these hostile syrup-soaked stress balls that exist only to spike blood sugar without offering even a faint memory of actual taste. If you truly want to serve Gulab Jamun, use khoya. You cannot just fry bready flour balls, dunk them in sugar syrup and declare them GJs. Let the current ones retire peacefully. They have suffered, and so have we. I could go on, but you get the picture. You bought a Ferrari with all the upgrades, filled it with premium fuel, and then handed the steering wheel to someone determined to drive it permanently in first gear. I may sound sarcastic, but I'm saying all of this with genuine love. I adore it when entrepreneurs dare to dream big. I deeply respect the courage it takes to invest at this scale. Which is why it absolutely crushes my soul to see it all go to waste because someone either lacks the pride, the skill, or the basic willingness to execute. I sincerely hope you invest the additional couple of hours needed in the kitchen, because your infrastructure deserves the delivery that matches its ambition. I will say it's a small buffet but packs a big punch with all the traditional items we all tend to love. I ate more than I intended, but it's hard to stop with just one plate. The staff was very sweet, suggesting to try this sauce or that sauce with the goat meat or the masala butter chicken and other items. You know, to switch the taste up a bit, it worked, and I found some new ways I will definitely try at home. Unfortunately, most other Indian places in the DFW metroplex has better quality food. Although there may be several options, the quality of each and every dish has fell off over the past several years. Specifically, the butter chicken doesn't even taste like butter chicken and is way too sweet. I will say the goat curry was well made with an adequate level of spice and amazing flavor. However, everything else I tried was mediocre. The tandoori chicken tasted the exact same as the garlic chicken with so much spice that the flavor was barely there. Additionally, the pani puri was so spicy that it completely overpowered the flavor of the chole mixture, essentially forcing me to leave the plate unfinished. The deserts had no flavor, it tasted like I was eating water. Finally, what made my review 2 stars instead of 3 was the lack of cleanliness. When I grabbed a clean plate, it was still dirty and sticky which was shocking. Usually, coming around 1pm, the quality of the food decreases exponentially. If you want to disregard everything I said and still come to the restaurant, please go around 1130-1230 when the food is fresh. If you like really spicy foods, then this is your place. If you prioritize flavor, most other places will do a better job. read more

Visited India 101 in Irving for the lunch buffet on 12/18/2025 around 1 PM with family. Unfortunately, the experience did not match what was advertised or reasonably expected from an Indian buffet. Over the course of the visit, we stood in line three separate times, each time waiting about 7-10 minutes due to long crowds. During every attempt, several buffet items were empty and never replenished. Items that were consistently unavailable included medu vada, pizza slices, and paneer starters. The egg biryani had no eggs, and the mango lassi jug was nearly empty with just a few drops left. Effectively, there was only one vegetarian appetizer available. We informed a staff member (lady in a red dress), who acknowledged the issue but no corrective action followed. There was also poor monitoring of the buffet area -- at one point there were no serving spoons, and there was no clear separation between vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. A buffet should be actively managed and replenished, especially during peak lunch hours. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. This is a solid buffet restaurant if you're looking to try different Indian dishes as a beginner or just want to satisfy your cravings. I was in my Indian phase, and have been craving different dishes. I saw an advertisement saying this has over 60+ items, and the cost wasn't crazy either, so we stopped by. We came around 7 PM on a Sunday and the restaurant was packed. There were a couple of large parties in front of us. They have a waiting area, which is pretty nice, with a staircase leading to the second floor. I'm guessing the 2nd floor is for private events mainly. We waited about 25 minutes for a table. The restaurant looked big on the outside, but the seating area was pretty small. I was amazed at their buffet options and how organized everything was. They have appetizers, curries, salad bars, fresh dosa, desserts, lassi, fountain drinks, and more. Just like other buffets, you grab a plate at the beginning and make your way down the road. There are small wooden bowls if you want to separate your curries like me. I enjoyed trying everything, and I absolutely love the dosa. I wish the dosa was crispy like what I usually get at restaurants, but I think it's pretty solid for buffet style. The regular rice was undercooked-- it was still crunchy when we bit into it so that was disappointing. I love their mango lassi and the fountain drinks. Everything is available for you to grab which is very convenient. The food quality isn't the best but it was still good enough to satisfy my cravings. My boyfriend didn't like the tandoori chicken-- he said it was pretty plain and tasteless. You can see the naan and dosa being cooked right behind the counter so that was pretty cool. They restock it quickly since there's one person behind each area. Overall, it's a solid place if you want to try multiple Indian dishes. They have good ambiance and their servers and reception folks are very courteous. However inspite of having 101 food options they lack quality and flavors of good Indian food! What is the point of having so many food options when people are grabbing and not finishing the chosen buffet items. Their panipuri spicy water(4 types) has no taste whatsoever. The curd rice they prepare is just so spicy. The malai kofta's balls and manchurians are same. Both hard in the center. Neither the indo Chinese was good nor the typical malai kofta was good. I can't help but compare this place to be the equivalent of a Chinese buffet in the sense of quantity over quality. While everything I had was good it was not great. The decor is nice and feels upscale. I've been here twice now, because I wanted to try it one more time before leaving a review. The first time was lunch on a weekday and there were two parties going on. The kitchen had a hard time keeping up with the crowd. This time was lunch on Friday and while still busy, most items were kept well stocked. The naan station was a little behind but luckily had some on my way back to my table. There is a pani puri station and made to order dosas. This place gets busy but it's nice to try different things and to be able to get in and out. They do close between lunch and dinner. i rarely eat lunch while in my office, and its even more rare that i actually go out to eat. However, this place is my #1 go to choice for lunch. i don't know what it is about indian buffets, but i just love them. While it isn't "cheap", i think the 20 bucks you're paying for the amount of choice you get is still a good deal. every time i go there are people there during the lunch hours, which is a good sign. We never had to wait, and get seated fairly quickly. My favorite items are the palak paneer and the chicken tikka masala. couple those two items with either white rice or biryani, and i'm good to go. However, this place has so much more than that. i think they have items from the north of india as well as the south of india, which makes it so diverse. also, i was able to try pani puri for the first time recently, and it is an amazing snack. they also have a salad bar and a section for dessert. Honestly, every time i go, i end up back in the office with a food coma. hard to focus on meetings after lunch. lol For drinks, they will offer water. but they also have a soda machine you can get soda from along with chai, lassi and coffee. read more

Very unique concept. It's an All-you-can-eat buffet with a 1-time entry fee per person at the door and then you have access to all kinds of ethnic Indian and Indo-Chinese foods. India 101 is by far my favorite restaurant in the entire DFW Metroplex. They offer a large selection of vegetarian options along with several meat choices and desserts as well. Their chili chicken, vegetarian "meat"balls, and pani pani are some of my faves!! For drinks, they offer delicious chai, mango lassi, plain lassi, and coffee -- those are in addition to the water and sodas you can choose from. Not in the delivery notes...the item is a nominal fee so I took the liberty of calling them to verify that they had this item , that the note was received AND offered to pay for it! After being told I would have it twice and also received a callback/voicemail about it to verify that it will be put in the bag and IT WAS NOT IN MY BAG! My initial call was to simply verify the note was received and she read it to me before I could finish my sentence!! Was promised that I would receive it by their staff and didn't! I am from out of town and won't have a vehicle before they close. And will not spend MORE MONEY and be inconvenienced to go back to pick it up! Hence, the reason I had it delivered. So, I can't go and pick it up, which I would do if I was able because indeed mistakes happen! Completely understandable. So, in search of a service recovery option I asked for a manager, was told there was no one I could speak to about it but was told I would get a call back. Received a call back from a man that swiftly explained there was NOTHING he could because they don't see the notes (which is a lie because she read it to me before I could finish my sentence. We actually chuckled briefly because she knew what I wanted before I could tell her) and that I should contact Uber and take it up with them. EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE!! I wish I could share the timeline to prove the lie he told about the fact that the note was not able to be seen by their staff snd that within 3 mins of placing the order...it was packed and out the door??? (Must be super hero's making the food to be delivered and EXTREMELY slow drivers...but anywho) But more so, him not honoring the fact that I spoke to HIS staff member TWICE!! And was left a message promising my item! This item is indeed a "deal breaker" for me! I would have kept my $40+ and ordered from somewhere else. The food was not that great everything tasted store bought and left a lot to desire. This place is not kid friendly with all the cramped areas in the buffet and everything would be too spicy apart for the pizza and the butter chicken. The service was great though with people constantly refilling the food and picking up the extra plates. Lastly I legit counted and I got 83 dishes (when the whole purpose of India 101 is having 101 dishes) including all the naan, chutney, coffee, and even veggies.
