First time , let's see how it is

So it's been awhile since I've had some good lomo saltado , and it's been quite a few times I passed through upland and seen this spot here idk how long it's been here but I've never noticed it , I usually go west for Lomo Covina/LA area so today I stopped through upon arriving I was helped instantly the lady up front was very nice and helpful I wanted some chicken but they didn't have any today they said this weekend forsure no biggie I mainly came for the Lomo .... It's a nice little spot forsure gram fit a group of 8 in there as well as 4 other groups of 4 also .. so it's kinda roomy so now let me get to the main part I finally finished my meal and I won't lie I'm a little upset , it didn't hit like I thought it would ... the green sauce was off a little something was missing the white rice seemed like wet still basically , I'm assuming it needed to be cooked more ? Idk but over all the lomo plate was a solid 5/10 ... my ratings are based off everything else but yeah will I rush back here again no will I try it another time and give it a shot and maybe today was just one of those days yes I will , but don't let this stop you from trying it out !

We ate lunch here on a Tuesday around 1:45pm. The restaurant is in a strip mall right next to a Baskin Robbins and a donut shop alongside a Brandon's Diner. Very small restaurant but you definitely get a South american vibe by the decor and the tv programs that play. The waiter we had was nice and checked on us frequently. My girl had the lomo saltado. That is by far the most popular dish at any Peruvian restaurant we have been so I wanted to get something I hadn't really seen before. I elected to get a beef and ulloco stir fry. I don't recall the proper name so I don't want to butcher it on here. My dish was very well seasoned, in fact, the rice itself was a bit on the salty side. I did finish it however. The Lomo was decent, not the best we have had but a worthy rendition indeed. 3.50 for a can of soda is a bit on the expensive side without refills. Portions are huge so you won't leave hungry that's for sure. Glad we gave it a try.

The best ceviche and lomo saltada !! we always come here just for these plates. never disappoints!

Cozy little restaurant. Clean and well lit. Service was really attentive but not over bearing. I ordered the Tuca Tuca. Essentially grilled steak, tomato, and onion seasoned just like Lomo Saltado, but over rice and white beans instead of fries. The plate was huge and very flavorful. I could eat this everyday. Price was very fair considering quality of food and portion size. Highly recommended!

Staff was friendly and food came out fast. Ordered the lomo saltado which was good but the papa a la Huancaina was very bland, very small portion, did not include egg and was $9. For being the most expensive appetizer on the menu, I was disappointed.

Absolutely disappointed! I had forgotten why we hadn't returned. Ordered Lomo Saltado and yucca. The Lomo Saltado was very dry and tough. We had to make our own sauce, that's what we are pouring. The fries were just dumped in not sautéed with the meat. The sauces were watered down and no flavor. We will not be returning.

Food: 111111111/10 Customer service: 1111111/10 Overall: This is our new go-to Peruvian spot forsure Came by today because it is my Peruvian partner's birthday tomorrow and he picked this spot! We were greeted immediately by a man who im assuming is the manager or owner. He let us sit anywhere we liked and gave us our menus promptly! We already knew what we wanted so we got the Lomo Saltado and the arroz frito/chaufa de mariscos (seafood fried rice) also two Inca Kolas because you can't have Peruvian without the Inca Kolas!!! The wait for the food was maybe 10-15 mins, not bad at all! We added yucca frita maybe 5 minutes after because we totally forgot that we like to try that at every Peruvian spot we go to! The Lomo came first and then the yucca and then the fried rice just a couple minutes later, everything was hot and fresh and smelled so amazing! Lomo saltado: 20/10 meat was tender, seasoned beautifully and the tomatoes and onions were perfectly cooked, not mushy like most spots do it, fries were on point! Seafood fried rice: 9/10 my partner said I wish it had a little bit more meat but other that than it was delicious and seasoned well, the portions were huge! Definitely would recommend to anyone who is Peruvian or not but looking to try some delicious cuisine! *we ate here around 12:30 on a Friday afternoon and it was completely empty!* Show them some love!!!

We need to have a serious talk about the absolute wizardry happening right under your noses. ‍ I almost didn't write this review. I seriously debated gatekeeping this spot because I'm terrified that once you all find out about it, the line will be wrapped around the block and I'll never get a table again. But, my therapist tells me I need to be more "sharing," so here we are. This place is the definition of a Hidden Gem. And the man running the show? Lucho. We need to protect Lucho at all costs. Not only is he the owner, but he is also a culinary artist and arguably the one of the nicest human being in the Inland Empire. I have rolled in with a big party (don't ask, long day), and despite the space being on the smaller, cozy side, Lucho didn't blink. He helped us fit everything in like a game of Tetris. The place is spotless, by the way. You could eat off the floor, but please don't, because the plates are much better. A Warning/Disclaimer: If you are in a rush and need food in 3 minutes, go to a drive-thru. This is not fast food; this is fresh food. Everything is made to order. There are no sad heat lamps here keeping burgers warm since 10 AM. Relax, sit down, and wait. It is worth every single tick of the clock. Let's talk about the food (I'm getting emotional just typing this): The Lomo Saltado (The Star): I have eaten Lomo Saltado all over. But Lucho's? It's a flavorful experience. He cooks the steak to absolute perfection--tender, juicy, no chewing gum texture here. But the magic is in the seasoning and how it hits those fries and onions. It is worth every penny. I would pay double. Don't tell him that. Aeropuerto de Pollo (Chicken Fried Rice): I know, I know. You're thinking, "It's just chicken fried rice." WRONG. Stop it. It sounds crazy to rave about rice, but this dish is savory, smoky, and addictive. I planned to eat a few bites and take the rest home. I failed. I ate it all. The Chow Mein: Traditional? Yes. Boring? Absolutely not. There is a "minor twist" in the flavor profile that I can't quite put my finger on, but it makes the dish absolutely sing. It's out of this world. Mar y Tierra: If you can't decide between surf or turf, get this. It's the best of both worlds and plated beautifully. I love small businesses like this. You aren't just eating ingredients; you are literally tasting the love and hard work Lucho puts into the pan. It's rare, it's special, and it's delicious. Go visit Lucho. Tip him well. And tell him I said hi and to sing you a song.

But it was more than the food; it was the service that made it so memorable. Our family had just arrived in Claremont for the first time; didn't know the area and were starving. Saw Inka Trails on Yelp and thought it looked good but it was about to close in 30 mins so we called to check if we could still make it. The lady who answered the phone was warm and welcoming, telling us to come on by. What followed was some of the most delicious food I've had, on par with Michelin-starred restaurants I have had the pleasured to dine at in Bangkok, San Sebastian, Paris...It was home cooking with the best ingredients - you can taste the freshness of the fish and vegetables and the fragrance of the herbs. Highly recommend the fish rice soup, the fried fish and fish stew in tomato broth. It was serious one of the best meals we have had. So the food was 5 stars, but what made me write this review was the owner Patty. She was warm and gracious. Asked us what brought us to Claremont and when we told her we were there to tour colleges, she was kind to share her insights on the school, experiences with the students, told us about safety and transits in the area. Remember this was all after the restaurant was already scheduled to be closed for the evening. We were never rushed and Patty was sincere and kind. As a frequent traveler and woman in business, I appreciate that. The experience was a highlight of our college visits and I hope to return to Inka Trails for another spectacular meal soon in the near future.

The Empanada was filled with seasoned beef, olives, and hard boiled eggs. The filling was flavorful although the crust was more tender than crisp. Pollo Saltado consisted of a large portion of tender, boneless chicken, stir fried with French fries and onion and served with steamed rice. It was delicious accompanied by the rice but was very salty from the soy sauce by itself. (This is an extremely common occurrence with this particular dish due to the varying salinity level of different soy sauce brands.) Since the saltado had a good overall flavor, if I were to order this again, I would recommend requesting that the food be made with a little less soy sauce. A dinner roll and butter blend was also served with this meal. The Chicha Morada I ordered as a beverage was delightfully delicious and refreshing from the mix of various fruit juices.
