Penne pesto pollo
Daniel S.

This food is fabulous and so is the ambiance and the service. This is one of my go to's in the area and we walk here quite often. The staff is incredibly kind and the food is affordable. We split pastas or paninis, all of which are delicious. If you're in BH and looking for something that's real and not plastic and overpriced then this is the place. Thanks for being great!

Chicken special

The chicken special is something special, like having an elevated chicken salad between two lovely pieces of bread. The way they cut the sandwich into a heart shape is extra cute. Do I wish it was cheaper? Always. But a solid panini.

Great restaurant with great customer service! It's a small place but it was full! We waited a little to get our seats. Were ordered the Caesar salad, beet root and orange salad, a pasta (forgot the name), and two sandwiches. One had chicken and the other was vegetarian. My favorite was the beet root salad. My boyfriend said it was the best salad he's ever had and of he knew how to make it he would eat it every day (I love to cook so I'll try and recreate it for him lol). The Caesar was your average Caesar. I wished it had more of a punch. The sandwiches were good and the pasta was very good. Everything was fresh. We had a lovely time here.

Yes, I did recently go to Tramez... and I cannot wait to get back there! Was greeted immediately upon walking in, my order was taken (to go) the chicken Panini was on point! Hands down! Flavors were absolutely scrumptious! Customer Service definitely the cherry on top! Thank you!

Everything was so amazing! We enjoyed our food and it came quickly. Highly highly recommend the croissant with nutella, we are obsessed!!! Simon was the kindest waiter, but all of the staff were super sweet. Cute and nice vibe, I hope to come back soon.

Chicken Special Panini - The Best !

We have been regular at this cafe for over 20 years now. Chicken Special and Veggie Special are our go to Paninis here - The pesto Garlic sauce that they put in their paninis is the secret ingredient that takes their paninis to next level. Service is efficient and the vibe is casual here. I also recommend to get their Tiramisus which are great too. Everytime we are in the Bev Hills area - we make every effort to stop by here. It's a classic that has survived the test of time !

Il Tram Chopped Salad

Updating this review because I am no longer with THAT bf and have no love for him :) Il Tram has gotten a facelift in recent years--same great menu, just bigger and better with a patio. The customer service remains top-notch, which is always a plus. This spot is also dog-friendly, making it even more of a neighborhood staple. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's still worth a visit *every single time*!

Barely any sauce:(

My family lives in Orange County, and we've been coming up to Beverly Hills every few months -- one of our go-to stops has always been Il Trem. We've always loved their pink sauce pasta, sandwiches, fresh bread with that amazing dip, and of course, the cannolis. This time, however, we placed our order to go, and when we got back home to Orange County, we were shocked to find that our pastas had barely any sauce at all. And because of this, the pasta was not flavorful. I even took a picture because it was so unlike what we've come to expect from Il Trem. I'm not sure if this was just an oversight in the kitchen or a sign that they're cutting back on portions/sauce in an effort to save money, but either way, it was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, this experience has made us rethink our usual LA dining list -- and for now, Il Trem is off it.

Menu

Il Tram transported me back to Italy! We went here for the panini and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Chicken Special, which was the first panini listed on the menu of around two dozen panini choices. Even though it doesn't say it has pesto, this is the same sandwich people are talking about when they mention 'chicken pesto panini' in their Yelp reviews. It has chicken breast (not deli meat), sun dried tomatoes, provolone cheese, avocado and a basil garlic sauce all pressed between an Italian baguette. It def didn't look like your usual American-ish panini sandwich and was more like what you'd get in a cafe in Italy. My companion ordered the Parma Prosciutto Classico which had cured ham, bufala mozzarella, roma tomato and fresh basil. The prosciutto was first rate and delicious. They import many of their desserts from Milan, and we chose to get a slice of tiramisu. It was a large piece for sharing and super delicious. The owner really talked it up and it lived up to expectations! We'll def be back when we want that chill ambiance and delicious panini. I'd love to try their veggie panini as there are many veg choices. Parking is easy (yay!) as there is a City of BH lot directly across the street by Wally's. Two hours of free parking, no validation needed. It's the same parking lot that connects Canon Drive (where Il Tram is located) with Beverly Drive, so you could park there and walk through to the other side to visits the other shops there easily without having to repark.

If it's not during Dine LA, I would likely not come back. Little did we know there was a very obvious explanation for not being full for a Sunday dinner despite the gorgeous patio being perfect for romantic dates. Overall 4 stars: 5 stars for ambiance 4 stars for service 3 stars for food Got the: 1. Toscana (7/10): - This salad was wilted by the time it got to us and not crispy anymore, so we suspect it's been sitting out for a while. - Would've been a 9/10 If it was served fresh 2. Pappardelle Al Tartufo Bianco (+$20 to add lobster pieces) 7/10: - the pasta (9/10) was good, and the doneness was perfect for fresh pasta. - Unfortunately the lobster (4/10) left a lot to be desired. The lobster meat was severely overcooked to the point of being almost rubbery and there were several small shells in the pasta dish. - The waiter must've noticed the pile of shells I made because he whisked away the plate the second I finished so I wasn't able to take a picture. 3. Filet di Manzo (5/10): - the filet was over cooked, which is starting to seem like an overarching theme. We ordered medium RARE and received medium WELL. - This would ordinarily be sent back to the kitchen in any reputable steakhouse, but we gave them a break for not being a steakhouse - the sauce was on the bitter side and this dish was paired with broccoli rabe instead of the advertised spinach so the dish was not balanced at all, just overwhelmingly bitter. Unfortunately this was the worst dish of the night. 4. Il Branzino (7.5/10): - the Branzino fish was not dry but also not moist. I'd say it's pretty typical for Italian cooking, just not flavorful either. It needs a tasty sauce to really add some depth - instead of the advertised zucchini, it came with spinach - It was soft enough for the palate of my grandparents 5. Panna Cotta (9.5/10): - wow, I can't believe the best dishes of the night were the desserts! - Panna cotta was very well balanced with the fruits. Without the fruits and fruit syrup topping, the vanilla bean panna cotta would've be too rich - did not come with the advertised candied rose petals, but this dessert was so well executed that it didn't matter 6. Tiramisu (9/10): - light and fluffy, it was executed well with chocolate shavings on top - a little bitter from the coffee (they advertise that the lady fingers were "lightly dipped in espresso" which my taste buds find hard to believe) but they did have a berry compote on the side to balance it out. - Personally I wish it was not served with berry compote as I believe the advertised mascarpone may been a better pairing Parking: valet only but there's street parking down the street and all around if you're willing to walk up to a block

There are other locations but this I think was the first one and since it was the one I frequented it's the one I will miss. I have so many fond memories of this restaurant. I came here as a little girl with my family because it was casual enough for a well mannered child but fancy enough to please the adults. One time I decided to get into shape. Every time someone asked me out for lunch or dinner I said I wanted to go to Il Fornaio. I would order a bowl of the vegetable soup or vegetarian soup of the day and the Regina Salad. The salad did wild arugula, couscous, avocado, red onions, capers, raisins, and lemon oil dressing. It was a fabulous and filling meal that also kept me skinny. I could honestly eat it every day and never get bored. During Covid I came here and we ate outside on the sidewalk. We enjoyed watching the pedestrian scene and "staying safe" while being able to eat out again. I really missed going out and I felt comfortable here which was important during Covid time. Every Halloween Il Fornaio would have 1/2 price pizza. My family made a tradition to order it. I LOVED this tradition and I'm going to miss it this Halloween. Their pizza was delicious. One time I came here with a boyfriend because they had a cooking class in the back. They had a huge entertainment room in the back of the restaurant. I wish I had a chance to have a special event here to rent it out. We had so much fun as we watched the chef talk about how to prepare each dish and what was even better is that we got to taste it in the end. We ate seabass with golden raisins, baked pasta with eggplant, and a cannoli for dessert. They even had a party souvenir which was an Il Fornaio plate to hang on the wall. Last time I came here was on the Fourth of July last year. It was also dine-la and they had the best deal of any of the dine-la restaurants. Not all the dine-la deals are good but this one truly was one of the best in terms of value for money. It was a three course meal with the most delicious fish entree. Who doesn't love a good deal? We had a fabulous time! Lastly, in recent years they added a happy hour menu to the restaurant and it was fabulous. I did another review on that so I'll keep it short here but the food and drinks were just wonderful. I will miss the friendly waiters who have been there forever. They don't make them like that anymore. Arrivederci to a true "classic"!

He also hardly checked in on our table, and we had to ask for drink refills instead of them being offered. At one point, he even spilled food on our table, and overall the service felt inattentive and dismissive. We also had to remind him multiple times that we were celebrating a birthday, which was frustrating considering it was supposed to be a special dinner. For the type of restaurant Dante presents itself as, I expected much better service. Waiting over an hour for our food would have been frustrating on its own, but the lack of communication and the attitude from our waiter made the experience significantly worse. Unfortunately, the service really put a damper on what was supposed to be a birthday celebration.

Needed to order butter for the bread and it didn't help much. I've dined at a lot of different restaurants and my carbonara I make at home with cut bacon strips tasted the same as carbonara here. It was essentially a bowl of egg with noodles barely any parm and cut strips of fried bacon. The tiramisu we ordered for the birthday desert was pulled out of a fridge, and tasted store bought. My husband and I both rated the food out of 1-10 and we both said 5. Wasn't good and wasn't bad. Maybe it was what we ordered. Everyone got the same thing. Maybe because the waiter recommended?
