The service is very nice. This was our third visit to Il Modo. I had the clams and my boyfriend had the lobster risotto. I think the clams are better when it's cooler weather outside. The broth is very good along with the sour dough bread. While the lobster was a generous portion the risotto lacked creaminess. It was a bit watery. What these new places seem to lack is serving with a complete setup when you order a glass of iced tea (for example, a teaspoon, sweetener, lemons). I also found the same lack of setup when we ordered after dinner espresso. No sugar, no spoon. Also no Sambuca available as an after dinner digestif in an Italian restaurant. First of all, Jessie was amazing. He made recommendations based on questions we answered. He is knowledgeable of the cocktails and dishes Il Modo offers. We had to scramble and made the reservation a little last minute as our original plan (reservation at Capital Grille) fell through- the restaurant was rented in whole and we got bounced. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an incredibly friendly young lady (Christine) who had clearly gone to great lengths to make the night extra special. There were flowers at our table and also a card signed by the whole staff working that night. I would have been impressed in any circumstance, but having made the reservation last minute, It was that much more remarkable. Our server, Brandon was truly top notch! He gave us plenty of attention without being interruptive and was a ninja with water and drink refills. He was knowledgable about the menu and was able to give us great recommendations. The food was SO GOOD! I am a chef, and in addition to my husband and I, another chef lives at our house. We eat well- and I am generally difficult to impress- this was a truly exceptional food experience. The meatballs were easily the best I've ever had. We also ordered the Burrata which was simple and paired really well the with fruit mostarda it came with. We shared a kale salad (which was huge)- Im not always a fan of kale but this salad was well prepared and the perfect precursor to our delicious entrees. My husband had the risotto- which was easily as good as mine (and I make a stellar risotto) and which enjoyed and finished (he doesn't usually clean his plate...but we did clean EVERY plate here! I had the filet, ordered rare. It came cooked to perfection and was accompanied by 6- SIX cipollini onions- if you have ever had to peel one (I have), you understand why I was impressed. Sadly, they had run out of cannoli for dessert, but they did present us with a tiramisu. Im not a dessert person but I had a bit and it was definitely delicious! My husband had the old fashioned (w/ Rye) and it was great. I had a gin drink (the Zippa) and it was also really delicious. We also polished off a bottle of bubbles. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a high quality dining experience. IL Modo was one of the best Italian restaurants we have been to since we lived in Boston! Went last week for my birthday. Finally, clams done right!!! Everything was so flavorful, pasta drying on the racks from scratch & seafood bar. Menu is still limited since it is new but they told us they will be slowly adding more items. We ordered the Filet, Linguine & Clams, Calamari, Cold Shrimp (basically HUGE prawn cocktail), roasted chicken (not pictured), and clams in white sauce. This spot is perfection. This was our second visit, we made a reservation ahead of time for Christmas dinner. I was grateful that they were open and I appreciated the service. Meatballs were a great appetizer and no complaints there. I ordered the carbonara for my entree. The first bite was great but after that it went downhill. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE garlic, I add copious amounts when I cook. But my pasta dish had quite a bit of raw garlic roughly chopped and added to the dish. The texture of the raw crunchy garlic with a creamy pasta dish just doesn't work. It should have been grated and sautéed prior to adding it to the dish. Since it was Christmas and I didn't appreciate their service I did not complain. I ate about a 4th of the dish and left with horrible breath and a bad stomach ache. Everything was delicious! We started with the kale salad and meatballs, the salad was light and refreshing not bitter or tough, and the meatballs were some of the best I've ever had in a restaurant! I went into this restaurant experience with high hopes because I saw on their online menu that they have risotto. I rarely get to have any, so I was extra excited. Unfortunately, the $27 dollar dish was extremely underwhelming. While the shrimp was passable, the rice was undercooked and not at all creamy. It was very under seasoned, and frankly tasted like chef boyardee but with undercooked rice instead of alphabet noodles. I let others in my party taste it and they agreed with me. They suggested I send it back, but after hearing complaints from everyone else about their dishes, I had no faith that anything else would be any better. I decided to just finish my meal, because again it was $27 dollars, and just never come back. I did mention in passing to the waitress that the rice was under cooked and she offered me a dessert to take home. We had planned to stay and have dessert there, but after the subpar food and frustrating service, we decided to just leave. We also felt discriminated against because we were told we couldn't be seated together at one table, but several tables were push together not long after that for a larger party. It could be a coincidence that we were a party of minorites, but it left a bad taste in our mouths to go with the taste of the non-seasoned food. Menu looked enticing and so did the location with kimpton hotel however we didn't really enjoy this place. We called and asked if they had kids menu, they said they don't but can easily make kids suitable pastas easily. But when we asked for something in white sauce for a child they struggled. They put together something with spices and tomatoes and basils. Our kids are a bit fussy about these items. We had to return it. Chefs pizza turned out to be too oily. It was made with salami. Farro with kale was good but it was too oily unnecessarily. There are a lot of good options in Fort Worth downtown so I cannot recommend this location. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was filled with oil and cheese. The service was also very slow. The manager came by to check but he should have known issue we had and already rather than come around and check if all is good. I hope they take this review and improve. read more

Bad service experience along with ok food. We show up at 6:58 pm with a 7:00 pm reservation. After standing at the hostess station for 13 minutes and laughing with a couple of people from NY about the lack of a hostess I finally ask 1 of the 3 bar personnel, is this a self seat restaurant? Of course at that point an employee shows up and ask how may I help. Well 10 minutes later we sit down with a couple of minutes passing a waitress shows up and asks, filtered water or sparkling water. I'm going to pass on all the additional BS, like no introduction to menu or specials, asked for a wine som​me​lier and was informed they didn't have one. Anyway the food is subpar with exception of the grilled octopus. Meatballs dry, bucatini dry and cold, small halibut portion with over powering sauce. Probably no big deal but my amazement was we were seated where we could view servers in and out of kitchen, I was amazed how it seamed to be a eating fest at the doorway for all the servers. This place probably survives off the hotel that it occupies. Fort Worth has much better places to spend $400.00 then IL Modo. WE'll NEVER RETURN. read more

We were really excited to go out for my sister's birthday and celebrate meeting friends we had not seen in a long time, but all this restaurant gave us with horrible service and disappointment. Food: Bland/unseasoned, cold, and undercooked for the whole table. Two people in our party had the risotto with crunchy rice and practically no creaminess, and another party had the fettuccini Alfredo and more than half of their entree was fatty liquid. Everyone's food was bland/unseasoned (there wasn't even salt or pepper is what it tasted like). The entire table added pepper and it did not improve the taste. Drinks: Disappointing. One member of our party enjoyed her drink, but the rest of us felt disappointed. Service: terrible. Yes, they could have been understaffed, but our server often and deliberately didn't come to our table. She completely ignored my drink order until another member of our party pointed it out to her and was very stand-offish when asked for recommendations. She stated COVID policies prohibited us from forming a table of 7 or 6 but the table behind us had a party more than double the size, and quite often, the staff would remove their masks on the floor so that excuse felt very "pick and choose" when to be compliant or accommodating. We pull up to valet and it was a mad house and they had no availability to park, valet spots were full. We've had a reservation for 2 weeks at 6:30 for a party of 5 and when we checked in with the hostess, our table still had be put together. You make a reservation so the establishment is prepared for you, not here. I'm Italian so finding good Italian food outside my kitchen is a challenge. The food was pretty good, our waitress was very nice and attentive but she removed our appetizers without asking if we were finished and there was still items to be eaten. The five of us rated our experience a 7 out of 10. We do dine out more than most and usually at finer restaurants. read more

Brad the bartender absolutely knew the menu backwards and forward, and would sell you a story for every description. The food was fantastic, 10/10 Beef Tartare, I didn't feel like the Guanciale in the Amatriciana sauce was rendered nearly enough, but it still had great flavor and the Bucatini was amazing. Had a fantastic dinner for my wife's 40th. Seems like the menu has been completely redone. Started with meatballs (next level with the dry aged beef) and burrata (awesome sweet compliment with the jam). We split the rigatoni (again, dry aged beef for the win along with fresh made pasta). We really wanted to do the 42oz porterhouse, but that seemed crazy, so opted to split a kale salad, pizza and polenta. Salad was good but pizza and polenta were great. Topped it off with tiramisu and we almost needed a ride in the luggage cart back to our room. Can't wait to come back for the porterhouse and linguine. 5 stars on food as well as service. read more

Save yourself the money and do not come here if you're looking for an Italian dinner. I was thoroughly disappointed in the food when I dined here with friends. We ordered the burrata appetizer which was the only good food item we received. When it came time to eat my dinner entree I was shocked when I tasted it. A friend and I shared two of the pasta entrees, the bucatini and the risotto, and we both were disappointed. The shrimp that came with the risotto tasted as if they were boiled in plain water, absolute disgrace. The rest of the dish was so underwhelming and lacking flavor I had to ask for salt and pepper from the back just to see if I could make it more enjoyable- and that failed. The bucatini was also underwhelming and lacking flavor, but better than the risotto which was not hard to beat. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pasta dish. If you'd like a nice glass of wine and an appetizer, then yes check them out- but do not come here to eat pasta. I give two stars because my drinks from the bar were good and our server was nice. They also had a limited menu when we dined there, I posted a picture with the menu it in. Having a limited menu you would think they wouldn't put items on there they couldn't successfully execute. I can't even pick one over the other. The bucatini and the clam linguini were our entrees and I can't imagine anyone not enjoying them!! They are such a new restaurant and they did not disappoint. Our server Harrison was outstanding, and a special recognition goes to the server, Jay, who was also stopping by our table frequently to check up on us as well. It seemed excessive compared to the rest of the menu. It's like charging for ice to accompany a lemonade. It definitely took away one star from my review.
