Delicious, al dente, and freshly made Italian food in Fort Worth, Texas! I'm originally from Northern New Jersey and grew up eating delicious, amazing Italian food. Il Modo is as close as they come to freshly made Italian food outside of NYC and New Jersey. Burrata was excellent, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The Calamari was basic calamari...neither excellent nor bad. Spaghetti and Bucatini pasta dishes were perfectly al dente, delicious, and celebrated traditional Italian flavors with vigor. Hallelujah! We've already booked two additional dinners at Il Modo and will take friends and family alike. Please turn down the lights! The space is too bright for dinner and could use some ambiance by dimming the lights. Overall, we're thrilled to have this restaurant in Fort Worth. read more

The thing that moved my star review further down was when I saw they charged me $18 for a kids pasta. After visiting the different regions of Italy going to Italian restaurants in the states is never my #1 option.....unless they have fresh pasta made in-house which makes this Italian restaurant definitely stand out. They don't have a huge menu which implies the food will be nothing less than perfectly prepared and they did just that. I was here on a business trip and staying in the attached hotel which is another awesome and brand new spot so the convenient location was a bonus. I ordered the spaghetti dish and meatballs that were listed as an appetizer. The portions were appropriate and the prices I thought were fair and the only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars was because I ordered my meal to go and the meatballs would have tasted better with more Sunday gravy. read more

I've been to this establishment several times. There is NO CONSISTENCY! The first time I went for brunch it was great. I've been back twice for dinner now and it was subpar. Overall I would give it a good. The service was excellent from the of the host to our server. The staters where good, but not amazing. At nearly $25 each I would expect them to be more on the amazing side. The main courses were also good but not amazing. They are modestly priced. The Tiramisu was again good but not amazing (I think Grimaldi's has better). For a meal that was in excess of $300 for 5 of us with the overall value was just fair. I understand that this place is rate the best Italian in FW. I am very particular when it comes to Italian being born in NYC and fortunate enough to travel. I understand the restaurant situation in FW is not as evolved as Dallas but I would say if you can make the drive to Dallas do so. If you want Italian and the best value then look elsewhere. This was a birthday celebration for wife and our 3 kids. We did have a great time and that is priceless. In hindsight I would always hope for better food quality to price ratio. When I say the food is incredible here. It's an understatement. I'm originally from north Jersey with regular access to Brooklyn and staten island where I could get some of the best Italian food around on a daily basis. This is the first Italian restaurant since I moved to Texas that tasted like the east. The food was incredible from beginning to end. The meatballs and burrata to start with perfect. For dinner my wife had the linguini with clams and I had the Bucatini all cooked to perfection. I wish I had bread to clean up the plate of every last bit of the gravy (sauce). All to end with a slamming tiramisu. We will be returning here for sure. read more

We arrived at 5 and were one of the first tables seated. Yes I know it's early, but with a 4 month old, dates nights seem to start earlier. So to start, our waiter/waitress told us she knew little about cocktails and little about wine when I asked her about a drink in their cocktail list...for what appears to be a fine dining Italian restaurant...I feel the staff should know their menus well...especially for how small of a menu they have.... We ordered the mussels and meatballs to start...the mussels were good and one of the only things worthy of a star. The meatballs were ok...no sear to the outside and they just seemed to be boiled balls of meat....our main courses were linguine w/clams and the garganelli (I ordered this for the wild mushrooms). Both pastas were bland...I was screaming in my best Gordan Ramsay voice..."salt the water"...I say this only because both dishes were very bland and did not have much flavor at all.... I was mostly excited about tiramisu...but seeing as how the rest of the meal went...we decided to skip dessert and bounce....probably the worst Italian in FW.... read more

Called, spoke to hotel manager E Colon (they are the Kimpton Harper hotel restaurant) sent email with receipt per his requestand he said he would take care of it, never heard back. I would have given 5 stars, although it really felt more like a 3.5 star experience simply because the front of the house lacks professionalism. My boyfriend and I arrived yesterday at 5pm on the dot, their opening time, since we were in the area and really craving some Italian for late lunch/early dinner. He was boarding a flight back out of state later that evening. We didn't think we would need a reservation seeming as we arrived during opening time. Once we requested to be seated, the front of house actually seriously suggested we both be sat at the bar, even though the rest of the restaurant was literally empty--no one else was there (yet) besides us. My boyfriend and I laughed. I asked her if we could sit at a table, and she said not without a reservation, very coldly. My boyfriend thought the encounter to be rude, so we were just about to head back out to find another restaurant when whom appears to be her supervisor came to the booth and had a minor discussion with her about sitting us down, until eventually we were sat down. The moment felt a little humiliating seeming as the waiters/waitresses were just staring because they just began their shifts so they weren't really waiting tables yet. Anyway, we sat. Our waitresses were a complete 360 from the earlier rude encounter and made us feel very pleased with the service, explaining the menu and how they are just a brand new restaurant. I ordered the linguine with clams, boyfriend ordered the amatriciana, and we had calamari as an app, as well as tiramisu for dessert. All in all, the food tasted excellent and al dente, which is key at any authentic Italian restaurant (I'm a pasta fanatic, I love a good pasta). As we were finishing up our dining, another couple walked in -- without reservation -- also asking to be sat down, with the front of house woman coldly also telling them she could not sit them down without a reservation, even though again, at this point it was only me and my boyfriend and another couple sitting at the far end of the restaurant in this whole restaurant. At the end her manager had to stay in the front of the house with her because she was very obliviously driving away potential clients. Ultimate review: the food was delicious, waitress' service was pleasant, but if you guys want to gather repeat customers and drive business even higher, I would suggest getting rid of your front of house, placing her in another position, and replacing her with someone a little more competent for the role. read more

Finished with hands down the best branzino I have ever eaten and the tiramisu of course. We liked it so much we booked the pasta room for our daughter's 28th birthday celebration. So to start on a good note, I do think by and large the food is pretty good. Fresh pasta is well made and the sides were fresh and flavorful. The decor is also really nice, comfortable and welcoming. That being said I still don't think we'll be back. When we arrived at 1pm on a Sunday there was almost no one else there. We brought our 2 young kids and asked if they had a kids menu. They didn't which was totally fine and the waiter recommended we get a couple of pastas and sides and do it family style. I think perhaps that was the wrong recommendation because when the food arrived we were pretty gobsmacked by how small the pasta portions in particular were. For the kids we ordered a bowl of buttered pasta. There was maybe a cup/cup and a half of plain noodles and it ended up costing $20! Between my husband, myself and our 3 and 5 year old we spent over $100, without ordering any alcohol, and still left feeling hungry. We are people who don't mind spending money on good food but for what we got that was ridiculous. To be completely honest, I don't think I even would have minded the total cost so much had they not charged $20 for that cup of plain pasta for the kids. It just didn't sit right. So all in all I think Il Modo is good if you're planning a date night and craving pasta. I definitely would not recommend bringing your family or kids there and for the price I think you can get better food nearby. read more

This was our second experience dining with iL Modo. We were on time for our 6:30pm reservation and waited over 25 mins for our server to greet us and take a drink order. We had to ask other severs to fill our water glasses and search for our server for another round of drinks. By this time I was already annoyed with this dinner. We ordered the shrimp appetizer followed by the spaghetti and porterhouse steak with a side of potatoes. Our main course did not come until after 8pm. The steak was cooked perfectly, however the potatoes were a total waste. They were over cooked, dry and flavorless. As this was a Valentine's dinner I tried to make this a positive experience but the service was so poor it was unbearable. I ordered dessert, tiramisu, as this is my all time favorites. They were out of tiramisu. I asked for one more glass of wine, however another 15-20 minutes later I was as totally over the wine and iL Modo. I canceled the wine and asked for the check. Our tab was just shy of $350. We left with a below average experience with a well above average dinner for two. read more

Definitely recommend this place. My husband and I made reservations for date night and by the time we got to the table we had water waiting for us at our table. The waitress was nice and gave us recommendations. Food and wine was great! We had the grilled oysters which was our favorite appetizer and the pastas were just mmmm good! Dined here for our wedding anniversary. Didn't make a reservation as we planned on arriving right as they opened at 5pm for an early dinner. Was told upon entering that without a reservation we could only dine at the bar--small with about maybe 15 seats. We were excited from what we had seen online so we opted for bar seating (mind you there were dozens of open tables in the restaurant as it was barely 5:15pm). Our server at the bar was pleasant, but he compared the red sauce in one of the dishes to "Ragu" which wasn't helpful to our experience. While he offered to answer questions he did not provide enticing answers. Two of the dishes I had been excited about (shrimp scampi and the orecchiette) appeared online but not on the menu--disappointing. I ordered the chicken, my husband the salmon. We didn't have a huge enough appetite to also order pasta. The meatballs were tasty, in a good red sauce. The chicken and salmon were both underwhelming. Neither dish was steaming hot, merely warm; and the potato leek purée was lacking seasoning and I got no real flavor from the chicken aside from the crispy skin. The salmon was well cooked with a crispy skin--however again--underwhelming. We left greatly disappointed overall. We dine at this level of establishment maybe once a year, we will not return nor recommend. read more

the service was spotty, & the drinks came out after a long wait , but worst of all the food was cold & not very good. we put it down to a hung over crew poat new years , the worst yet was the valet screwed with our cars & 2 weeks later the city sent us $90 tickets for parking in restricted areas. we called the restaurant no luck then the kimpton harper hotel, they hung up on us their manager said not their problem. it was their valet i pointed out , rude manager hung up again this caused me to call my attorney . so to sum it up bad meal, mediocre service & a $90 surcharge from the city even though we paid for their valet . do not eat here or even consider staying in theri hotel there are so many other wonderful alternatives within blocks spend your $'s with them read more

Service: A Our server was excellent! The staff overall was great. Style/Decor: B+ Really nice style though the chairs are a bit uncomfortable. Food: B Good food/drinks. Not the best Italian I've ever had, but at least there are a few real pastas and fresh sauces. The standout was actually the kale salad with pistachios. We spent $300 for the 2 of us, trying a lot of different dishes, so finding the salad to be our favorite dish was....different. The cocktails we had were good. Valet Service: C The valet actually services the entire hotel as well, so it's not the fault of the actual valet attendants. They were doing a great job! There just simply weren't enough of them and/or the vehicles are parked so far away that it took a really, really long time to get our car. Ambiance: D- We won't go back here simply due to how incredibly loud it was. The impression we got from their marketing, as well as the style/decor of the restaurant was that it would be "sophisticated" dining and even suitable for family dining. The decor/style is definitely sophisticated and we liked it, but unfortunately we could not even hear each other speak. The noise level was that of a packed out sports bar. Could be the low ceilings and all the hard surfaces, but it's a small space that packed a lot of people. Diners who want to party or celebrate loudly will enjoy it. It just wasn't for us. We were also a bit grossed out seeing a large group of diners go sit on top of the pasta prep counter where there is drying/hanging pasta, to do their own "insta" shoot. The overall vibe just wasn't for us.....but we're sure that a lot of people will love this place, especially if you're looking for a lively, instagrammable, type of dining experience. read more

We ate here during our stay at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the great dinner experience. We shared the calamari appetizer, which was pretty average in itself but a huge portion size. I ordered the salmon entree, my husband got chicken, & we shared the bucatini. My salmon was delicious, as was the polenta base of the chicken. (Best polenta I've ever had!) The bucatini wasn't bad but not overly impressive either... next time we'll go with something a little more exciting. Had the canoli for dessert-- my first! It very sweet but delicious, and more than enough for two people to share. We were later told the dessert was on the house since they were a little slow bringing out one of our entrees. (Didn't bother us, but very kind nonetheless!) I did find myself craving something green with my meal, but don't recall seeing any salads on the menu, and some non-alcoholic beverage options would have been nice.
