Dirt by the table where people eat

We were not greeted as we waited to be seated. When we were finally seated, it took a long time to get menus. The service was slow and wait times were ridiculous as it was not crowded. There was crumbs in the juice glass. There was crusted dirt and crumbs on the seat. Highly doubtful I'll be back! Gross!

    Sticky Syrup Caddy

I've come to this ihop multiple times since it opened in Olney and each time there has been an issue. We were seated at a table with syrup and crumbs on the table. The hostess wiped the crumbs with her hand before seating us. Three silverware wraps had forks or knives with food on them. The glasses did not look properly cleaned. The syrup caddy was sticky and the menus felt greasy and sticky. We asked for to-go syrup to eat with our meal. The food tasted good, but it was hard to get over all of the unsanitary surroundings leading up to the meal. We came on a weekday for breakfast around 11:30am this time and the wait time for a table and food was not too bad but when we asked for the syrup packets with our food the person who dropped off the food seemed frustrated with us. Bottom line, as a server at another restaurant, I've seen mistakes happen with service during a rush, but these issues were sanitary concerns that should always be a top priority. I would not want my family or friends to eat here, which is sad, because ihop is normally a great space for a weekend breakfast.

    Spinach and mushroom omelette

I came here for dinner about 2 weeks ago after I saw an ad on Facebook for their $20 dinner deal. When I went to the restaurant though, the deal was nowhere on their menu. I don't know if the ad was released early or if their menus weren't changed out but it was disappointing. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs and it was ok... I've had better at different breakfast places. My fiancé ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette and he enjoyed his omelette. He liked the hollandaise sauce, which I wasn't a big fan of. The pancakes were light and fluffy. I am giving them 3 stars because although the food wasn't great and they didn't have their advertised deal, the server was awesome. He was very friendly, seated us quickly, and came back often to check on us. I wish I could remember his name so I can give him props!

it's hard to mess up breakfast food, but IHOP is still a nice family-friendly place to go to. They have really downsized on their menu, with no french toast or other breakfast carbs available besides their pancakes.

You might be surprised at how delicious the hamburger tasted at this IHOP? I also love the garden omelette with their buttermilk pancakes.

Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Our drinks took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and we had already finished our appetizer before they got to the table. We ordered the Cheeky Peach cocktails, but they tasted like alcohol and water with no real flavor. We sent them back and tried the Red Velvet cocktails, only to have the same experience. For $15 drinks, I expected much better, including some flavor and presentation. The salmon was just okay, and the lamb chops weren't memorable. The highlight of the night was the pistachio gelato, which was absolutely delicious and easily the best thing we ordered. I'd be willing to give Eggspectation another chance, but based on this visit, I can't recommend it. Slow service and disappointing cocktails made for a very underwhelming experience.

The morning was perfect for a visit to their patio. Lots of small planes taking off and landing in the near distance. After receiving our menus, it was time to order. I got their Norwegian pancakes called "Pannekaker" wrapped with strawberry preserves on the inside with sprinkles of sweet blueberries. That was the option I selected as there are two other choices: cinnamon and sugar or lingonberries. I have tried the one with lingonberries - just as good. I also added an egg (scrambled) and sausage which is extra, but it was a meal I was looking forward to. I also got their Apple Cider mimosa - loved it. The other mimosa selections were the lingonberry and elderflower flavors, which are great as well. For the featured pastries, they showed us 3 choices for that week: Coffee Cake, Lingonberry Almond Cookie, and Chocolate Cheesecake. Paola's fresh pastries and they all looked tempting, but I settled on the Coffee Cake. The top had a slightly sweet crunch to it, while the rest of the cake was soft. I loved it. Service was great.

I was all prepared to sit at a table and have breakfast, but I was already there and I wasn't leaving without food. My dad and I both ordered the classic breakfast platter. It came with two waffles, probably three eggs (we added cheese so that was extra), 4 slices of bacon, and 2 sausage links, and hash brown. The waffles were such a cute shape and they were delicious. I can't confirm this, but I imagine it's their own special batter. They were very generous with the scrambled eggs and I didn't even have to add salt & pepper. I like that there were two meat options. I just wish my bacon wasn't all stuck together to form one piece. Also, the bacon could've been cooked a little more. It was a little fatty and I like a little more crisp. The star of the show was the hash brown. It definitely seemed like it was homemade. This may have been my first time having a homemade hash brown. I'm not sure what they did to it, but here's my guess. It looks shredded potatoes, mixed with green onion, and maybe some cheese, that was packed like a patty & shallow fried. My goodness, I should've ordered some hashbrowns to go so I could eat them for the rest of the week. The platter was so good, I didn't even mind having to eat it in my car. Lol. It was filling & $16 well spent.

But there's a pattern here that keeps me from giving a higher rating, and today it crossed a line. For a spot charging $7+ for a bagel with cream cheese, the policy of charging extra for a to-go cup with ice and a lid has always felt petty. Today it got worse. I asked for an extra cup & lid for ice before being rung up, and the employee wrongly assumed I wanted a simple water cup. When I clarified, instead of extending a small courtesy to a regular customer, he stopped and ran a separate credit card transaction for $2.65, the full price of a beverage, for an empty cup. I had already paid for my bottled beverage. It's not solely about the money. It's about what that gesture communicates to your customer. A $0.25 cup given as a goodwill gesture goes a long way. A separate $2.65 charge for an empty cup does the opposite. The food and early open time will keep bringing me back. But management should keep in mind that it's the small things that turn regulars into occasional visitors.

Dear Management, I…read moream writing to share my family's experience during our Father's Day visit to your restaurant. Unfortunately, what should have been a special celebration turned into a very disappointing experience due to the service we received upon arrival. We had a reservation for 4:00 p.m. When we arrived, the gentleman at the host stand was not welcoming or friendly. He simply told us to "step to the side" and that someone would assist us in a few minutes. As the minutes passed, we continued to wait without any communication. During that time, a white family of five walked in without a reservation and was seated immediately. At that point, I approached the host stand to ask what had happened and why we had not been seated despite having a reservation. The host searched for our reservation, asked what time it was scheduled for, and then casually stated, "I think someone stole your table." I was shocked by this response. I asked how that could happen if he was responsible for managing the seating. He had no explanation and, more importantly, never offered an apology for the mistake or the inconvenience. A manager later came over and asked what had happened. After I explained the situation, he appeared genuinely surprised and concerned by what had occurred. Once we were finally seated, our server acknowledged the delay and kindly offered us an appetizer because of the long wait at the front. We appreciated that gesture, but it did not change how unwelcome we had been made to feel upon arrival. I am writing this letter not because I am looking for compensation or anything in return. My purpose is simply to ensure that no other family has a similar experience, especially on a day meant to celebrate loved ones. Every guest deserves to be treated with fairness, courtesy, and respect. A sincere apology from the host at the time of the incident would have gone a long way. I hope you will use this feedback as an opportunity to coach your front-of-house staff on the importance of customer service, communication, and accountability. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. Sincerely, Ms. Deas
