I can't say this place is any better than, say Subway or any other local sub shop. I don't know who they are fooling with the pics on their website. Trust me, your actual food will look & taste nothing like the sandwiches on their website. The vibe is cute but again nothing special. The parking stinks but there is parking in front of other stores in the shopping center. The service is abysmal. It takes FOREVER to get your underwhelming food. 11/14/22 Since I was at the clinic today *11-5-22*, I decided to get my breakfast here. Yes, it is noon, but I eat when I am hungry. I am hungry now. This area for this restaurant is in a section which looks very new to me. A lot more residency Apartments have developed around the Shady Grove area. The restaurant was clean and somewhat busy. Someone kept popping in so the staff never really had time to relax. The staff spoke Spanish and English, so I got the best of both worlds. I was hoping to get regular Ranch Dressing, but the peppercorn ranch dressing was all they had. No blue cheese either. I ordered my sandwich without the mayo and without the ranch dressing. This restaurant is near my home and so I decided to try it. Inside, I was able to place my takeout order and then sat down while it was being prepared. No other customers were around and a few pickup customers came and went. After rather a long wait I got up to inquire after my order and discovered it had been ready and waiting for quite a while. There is probably some way to know when your order is ready but apparently no one is going to tell you and there's no signage on the subject. I was waiting right there next to the counter, how could I not know? Anyway, if you don't already know the routine, please know to be proactive so you can receive your order. The Firehouse in Germantown is great, this location, not so much. I ordered two subs and garlic bread on their app. My sandwich was soggy, which I can forgive as there is a drive home. But I did not ask for olives, and my sub was loaded with them. I'm not a martini, I'm a guy who hates olives. It was such a pain to have to pick them out. I understand donating is to make the world a better place, but I want to be able to enjoy eating. I had a medium Smokehouse beef and cheddar Brisket ($9) sub and tiny cup of Mac N Cheese ($5). The subs here are served warm like Potbelly and Quiznos (are they still in business?). They have small, medium, and large size and choice between white and wheat bread. I ordered the Italian and the ham/turkey sub. It was good but didn't taste fresh, like Jersey Mike's. If you like injest a days worth of sodium these subs are for you, like Potbelly's. Otherwise, they have kids sub size, outdoor seating, and cookies are $1.25 each. Bonus: they have a Coke freestyle machine. It's worth a try and maybe I just ordered the wrong subs. read more

I never stopped here before because it's on the other side of Cava which I usually default too, AND honestly the rating has been 3.5 stars or 3 stars for a while now and I was just not confident in it. Well, the other day I was really craving a sub, and Jersey Mike's was in the opposite direction of where I was going, so I decided to hit up Firehouse. First of all, there's a thing about it being founded by Firefighters and a lot of the menu items have gimmicky names that are related to firehouses. I mean... it's cute. Especially if you've been in that time of service. Gotta take Mike Jolly here one time. In any event, I went in and just wanted a cold turkey sub. Well I ended up ordering their club sub which was described as: "Smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, crispy pepper bacon, and melted Monterey Jack, served Fully Involved® (mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, deli mustard, and a pickle spear on the side)." So... I took off the onion: cause no thank you. And the deli mustard (just wasn't feeling it that day) and I got a side of the chopped pickles on the side that go on the sub in addition to the pickle spear that comes with the sub. I got it on the side... cause some pickles are... not so great. So I didn't want my sub tainted with bad pickles. Luckily... this was not the case, not one bit. I carried it out and took it to a friends house and started eating it and was ... I won't use the phrase blown away, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Ok... I was kind of blown away. First off... it seems I ordered a hot sub (surprise to me). The ingredients on the bread were definitely very warm. But it was absolutely delicious. When I was in the store I saw a line of steamers behind the counter going off almost like they were rehearsing for some scene in Fantasia 2020 and was curious if all of the subs were steamed. Turns out I ordered a steamed sub... and it was QUITE good. All of the ingredients tasted very fresh, the flavors were just plain good, and the sub was a decent size too ( I got the medium). Great location, customer service and fast service! I had a veggie sub and it was amazing, a lot of people think without meat there's no foos enjoyment. Well they are wrong especially when it comes to sandwiches. The best places can make a meatless sandwich taste yummy and forget it was just veggies. This has got to be the slowest Firehouse Subs on the planet. Firefighters could legit leave this restaurant, go put out a fire, and come back to this location and they would still be preparing two sandwiches. FOUR, count them FOUR, people were back there preparing food when I was there last week. There was only one other customer in the store. It took four people 20 minutes to make the other customer's sub and 25 minutes for my sub and salad. I know what you're thinking...they were probably making online orders. It didn't seem like it as there weren't any orders bagged before mine and the other customer's. What they were doing was a lot of joking around and laughing while other customer and I stared at them like what's going on here? Perhaps there was some training going on as two of the four employees seemed clueless as to how to make our subs. The manager then had to come save the day to get our orders out. If it weren't for him I would have likely been there until the next morning! This wasn't a first time thing either. I had two very similar experiences here prior to covid so it's not a covid thing. Seems more like a consistently slow staff problem instead. All of that said, place your order online if you can. They seem to treat in person customers as if they're invisible! read more

In my head, I thought I had selected the time for 11:48, but in actuality I selected 12:48. When I arrived, I spoke to Britney and she informed me I was an hour early. Oops! Britney and the other staff took care of me and put together my order as quickly as they could while simultaneously working on other orders. They truly worked as a team and went above and beyond! Decided to come here on a whim, and it wasn't a bad sub shop to try out! It's a pretty average sub shop; better than subway for sure. I ordered a hero sub and chicken & dumpling soup pair, and my boyfriend ordered a bbq brisket sub and chili pair. Each pair adds up to $9 plus tax, which is a bit on a pricey side considering that the sub is 3 inches long (size small) and the soup is a cup size, but they do say some of the proceeds go toward helping the fireman! Food wise, we liked the chili and the hero sub. The chili was well made and was only a tad spicy so it wasn't overwhelming. The hero sub had some good turkey and beef, and it wasn't too heavy. The bbq brisket sub on the other hand had quite a lot of bbq sauce on it so it was pretty heavy. We agreed that if he had ordered any larger than a 3 inch sub, the bbq sauce may be pretty overwhelming, unless you seriously love tons of it. The chicken & dumpling soup was alright; wasn't flavorful or anything but was expected for 120 calories for a cup, and I wanted something light too, so that wasn't the problem, but the dumpling part was pretty much a bunch of soggy rolled up dumpling skins/potatoes balls it seemed like. I think I'd stick to the chili next time if I choose to get a pair, or I'd stick to having a medium size sub! read more

I was shocked to get a large drink and it was almost $5. Then they asked if I wanted to tip, for what handing me a cup?? No bigger than a big gulp at 7-eleven. Their subs are soggy, just gross. The subs are filled with good stuff - tuna or club, meatballs or turkey or ham... (yes, we tried them all). The extras are fresh - lettuce, tomato, onion, sauces... The salads are crisp... We ordered delivery for six people this evening - it arrived within 30 minutes, and the total was less than $50 including tip (and drinks and chips). I had their cheesesteak (medium, you can order 3 sizes), which was flavorful and I found the bread to be very good! The medium was just a bit on the smaller size than expected. The sandwich only in total was around $9. I did order online and was happy to see that my order was ready promptly at the requested time! Hot and new! Just opened off of Shady Grove. I actually stumbled in here during construction so I was happy to finally see it was open on yelp. I placed an order through grub hub. Just my normal go to fav steak and cheese. It arrived on time however the order was wrong. Cringeeee. However, I called and the man who answered was MORE than happy to send a replacement. If you've never been to a firehouse sub this one is spot on. The concept is great the food is AMAZING and the readiness is on point. I constantly compare locations when it comes to chains or franchises however as far as the selection goes this is NO SUBWAY. I'd say it's comparable to potbelly but I don't particularly like their sandwiches I'd much rather have a warm meatball spicy sub from here!! This particular location is good too. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I've encountered other locations that have gone above and beyond - ask about donations, if I'm a first responder or military - this wasn't like that. Maybe they were just busy but I'd like EVERYONE to donate a little more to our local FD's and if they're not asking they're not getting. Subway who...? Jersey Mike's what....? Firehouse Subs is where its at! I can't believe I waited this long to try it. This location finally opened this week (behind CAVA in Upper Rock). Parking was tough because I picked up food during lunch rush but there were extra spots by the CVS or side-street parking. The place was a tad small but they had a few tables available. The customer service was excellent! The lady was nice enough to help me out with my to-go bag and employees were friendly. I ordered the firehouse steak and cheese with a side of chips. There was enough meat in the sub. and the flavor was delicious! Their sandwiches even come with a sliced pickle. A combo. comes with a side of a cookie or chips. The sandwiches come in different sizes (small, medium, or large). They offer salads as well for those who are watching their diet. Welcome to the neighborhood Firehouse!
