The best hamburgers ever! If you want the real deal hand-formed beef patty hamburger and real French fries, made out of real potatoes, this is it. Sometimes my daughter and I just to go in to share some fries. Just like I did after school when I was a kid. I wish they would start to offer Beyond Beef or Impossible Burgers here. I have not been to a Five Guys since my college days and this brings back some memories. The location is tucked away in the corner and they have some outdoor seating. The waiting area and the amount of seating inside is quite small. If you are doing curbside pickup, it is quite difficult as there is very limited amount of space to wait on the side. The logistics of this place makes it quite difficult during COVID. The food is pretty much the same everywhere you go for this brand. Nothing much has changed except the fact that there are more higher end burger joints around than before. They stick to the basics and there are no gimmicks, which gives it the original taste. I tend to like it. The fries do get soggy quickly so you would have to eat it fast. The burger was okay. I was not too excited about it but I needed food. The Cherry milkshake was the best milkshake. Absolutely the best. I tried the malted (bleh), the vanilla (which was vanilla), and the oreo cream milkshake. Cherry reigns supreme. Everything seemed to be good quality and it was so tall I couldn't get my mouth around the thing. As others have said, a small fry order is plenty to share. This 5 Guys just put the competition, Elevation Burger, out of business which couldn't compete with the original gourmet fast food burger. I think BGR down at the Rio in Gaithersburg makes a better burger over all, but that'll cost you $9...and no free peanuts. :) Also, don't overlook the hot dogs! The hot dogs here are great!!!! They should have some combo options, but you don't get that. So...a standard burger, fries and a drink probably will cost you $12. I've been to several five guys over the years and this spot in Germantown is spotty at best. The wait times are extremely long and sometimes you get rude staff that take your orders incorrectly. On the other hand, sometimes you get pleasant staff that will take your order correctly; It's hit or miss with this place. More recently, I've noticed that if you do not select tip, the machine automatically charges the highest percentage amount without your authorization, which is crazy. I didn't notice the tip charge until I went home and read the receipt. I don't mind tipping but not for service that is poor. I waited a full 8 minutes at the register for someone to acknowledge me and take my order. In addition, I had to ask the cashier to correct the order as the wrong toppings were entered. They also ran out of Cajun fries. Would you tip 20% for this type of service? Five Guys should fix their systems and not automatically add a tip if the customer did not select a tip option. Purchased a cheeseburger, hot dog and fries. My GF said the burger was okay but the fries were over-salted which is a constant at this location. The hot dog fell apart as per usual. I used to frequent this location many times last year but stopped for a bit due to the poor customer service. However had a burger craving and this was the only place near me that was open. My wife's burger ordered "all the way," and all it had was a lot of mayo/pickle/mushroom, and that's it. She was highly disappointed because we could have ate somewhere else, but we chose you guys. And our fries, we ordered one regular and one large, our bag was extremely light. I've never had a bad experience until today, I normally go to Kentlands or quince orchard. I called in my order, the store employee that took my order was VERY rude to me on the phone. When I arrived the same boy that answered the phone was also working the cash register and was just as rude in person. The young man that prepared my food was the total opposite, he greeted me and was very nice. He made sure my fries were hot and fresh. I asked him if he was the manager, he said no and pointed to the rude boy that took my order. First off, my order has changed over the years. I have been to 5 guys many times though. 1. In the long ago past when I had connecting flights in DC, I usually grabbed 5 guys in the Dulles airport for breakfast. Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing! 2. When we moved to DC i introduced our sons to 5 guys. That may have been a mistake. We frequented the one in the Kentlands many times. 3. I no longer eat bread, I have to say their lettuce wraps are still amazing! Our typeical order is two burgers, one Lettuce wrap, cajun fries (medium) and regular fries (medium) a medium is almost more than two teenage boys can eat as far as fries! Usually this place is good with our Uber Eats but today when called to add extra bacon to the bacon cheeseburger the laziness of the staff said the order is already prepared. Mind you I called within of minute of placing the order and it's unlimited toppings. Great spot to hit up especially if you're craving fries! When I'm craving burgers and fries and can't get to shake shack, this is one of my go-to spots. The burgers are so juicy and flavorful! And the fries are similar to the famous Thrasher fries! One of my most fav things about this place is how they alwayyyys load up on fries. Not only do you get a full cup of whatever size you order, but it's always tons of fries in the bag! When I went this time, I noticed a handicap feature for their tea section. This five guys is pretty awesome! It's so fun getting to watch them put together the burgers and fries after ordering. The food takes a while to come out when they're busy but it's definitely always worth the wait! I do recommend making sure you check the screen to see if they got all of your toppings before you pay though because they almost always forget my jalapeños. Husband and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. We decided to visit our local Five Guys to bring home, and enjoy. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger, little hamburger, and regular fries to share. Service was friendly at the counter but when we returned home we were very disappointed in our food. Husband received a baconless bacon cheeseburger. My little hamburger was supposed to come with pickles and ketchup, but it was no where to be found. :-( The food isn't bad for the price you pay for. The fries are a must have!! Came here last night about a half hour before closing. Normally that's the time when the cashiers and cooks give you the side-eye, and mutter curses under their breath before taking your order. Not here. The young lady that took our order was as cheerful and polite as if we were her first customers. Our orders were cooked quickly and were almost 100% accurate. She put mushrooms on both of our burgers, instead of just mine (the boyfriend HATES mushrooms!), but other than that, everything was great. Our burgers were juicy and delicious and the fries were fresh and hot! Speaking of the fries, we ordered a large and I swear there were enough fries in there for 3 or 4 people! I would highly recommend against ordering delivery from this location. They have no idea what they are doing or what is going on with their food. I am not sure if the girl who was working tonight is new but she isn't the most pleasant at all. She was sweeping and my husband and I were standing at the register for almost 5 minutes. She doesn't even acknowledge that we are there and I don't think she even knows how to sweep. The guy from the kitchen who was busy had to call the girl to come help us. I see the receipt and I believe her name is Patrinia. Honestly don't come here. Her attitude was plain rude she doesn't even apologize that she didn't even acknowledge us and on top of that she didn't even get my husbands order correctly. The fresh cut uncooked jalapeños are the way to go. Tired of uncooked onions on your burger? Go for the grilled onions and mushrooms. These few changes will give your taste buds the time of their life! Now let's talk about the fries. In the store they have it marked where your potatoes came from. As silly as that sounds it makes you feel more appreciative of a simple burger side item. The copious amounts of fries that are given are usually enough to feed a small army. Splitting a small fry with my wife when we order two burgers is plenty enough food. They have the new soda machines that allows for all types of combinations of flavors. For someone who has chronic gastrointestinal issues when ingesting too much fat I usually have to watch what I eat, but typically eating five guys burgers don't bother me because the patties tend to be not that greasy. I ordered the little cheeseburger. The cashier chuckles and says " Normally the guy orders the regular burger and the girl orders the little burger" So basically the cashier is calling a WOMAN!!!! Five Guys brought some much needed fresh air to an otherwise stagnant burger market to suburban DC. The restaurant seemed a bit peculiar when the Germantown branch first opened up a few years ago. The dining area was a bit loud, cramped, and messy. There were peanut shells all over the floor. Though after my first taste of their burgers, I was convinced this was one of the best in the area. The burgers are greasy. They are heavy, and you probably won't feel great after eating a regular burger (the regular burger has 2 patties - "little" burgers have 1 patty). But they are delicious. The beef is fresh and not frozen - a key detail that results in juicy, tasty patties. They're cooked to order in front of you and with an assortment of toppings of your choosing - at no cost. That other key detail in a good burger - the bread - is perfect. The bread is substantial enough to absorb a good amount of burger grease and holds together fairly well on even the most generously topped order. The buns also have just an inkling of sweetness to them. They are well-paired with the burger patties. The burgers are delivered to you wrapped tightly in foil. Cheese and bacon are extra. I suggest paying that extra bit for these, although the burger itself stands well on its own. The fries are cooked in peanut oil. They are not crispy, but soft and well cooked, so you can vaguely taste a hint of smokiness from the overcooked oil. The softness and flavor of the fries match the burger well. And as many of you know, they add an extra heap into your bag with every order. The restaurant stocks ketchup and malt vinegar for your fries. I highly recommend a sprinkling of malt vinegar on your fries. They give them an extra kick that livens up the relatively heavy meal. Your order arrives in a brown paper bag. By the way the employees seem a bit annoyed if you don't pick up your order right when it's called. Hot dogs are also on the menu, which are good, but the burger trumps it by far - I would advise getting the burger over the hot dog any time. There is street parking in front of Five Guys, but there is also a parking lot behind right behind it. Nothing fancy here. Fresh beef patties. Fresh vegetables. Potatoes and peanut oil. The sheer simplicity of the entire operation makes me wonder why there aren't more vendors like Five Guys around. read more

Ok not really a hater but, I was such an In-N-Out person that I refused to give Five Guys its credit. Well once I let go of my obsession, with the west coast food chain, I was able to appreciate the deliciousness of these burgers. When I go to a burger chain, there are a couple things I look for. I want a simple burger, that I can top with whatever I want. I want a burger that is less than 8 bucks. I want a burger that is freshly cooked. And it doesnt hurt to have a it taste good to. Certainly nothing to inspire the open mouth, frothing lunacy that you find in people who talk about how great it is, but it's pretty good. I go maybe once every few months. This location is clean, and the staff is friendly. Wait times aren't too long, and you get in and out with your burger. And your fries. Please - I just want fries. A human-sized order of fries. Stop loading them into the bag with a goddamn snow-shovel. You could feed like 50 villages in Africa for a year with all the potatoes you use to give me an order of fries large enough to choke a blue whale.
