4.5 out of 5!!! It will never be In-N-Out but its pretty freakin Good. For the longest time I was a Five Guys hater. Ok not really a hater but, I was such an In-N-Out person that I refused to give Five Guys its credit. Well once I let go of my obsession, with the west coast food chain, I was able to appreciate the deliciousness of these burgers. When I go to a burger chain, there are a couple things I look for. I want a simple burger, that I can top with whatever I want. I want a burger that is less than 8 bucks. I want a burger that is freshly cooked. And it doesnt hurt to have a it taste good to. Five guys hits the mark on all of these requirements. So Until I move the west coast, or at least visit. This will be my spot whenever Im craving a good burger. read more

I still don't get the whole Five Guys thing. Are the burgers good? Yeah, they are OK - nothing special. Certainly nothing to inspire the open mouth, frothing lunacy that you find in people who talk about how great it is, but it's pretty good. I go maybe once every few months. This location is clean, and the staff is friendly. Wait times aren't too long, and you get in and out with your burger. And your fries. Please - I just want fries. A human-sized order of fries. Stop loading them into the bag with a goddamn snow-shovel. You could feed like 50 villages in Africa for a year with all the potatoes you use to give me an order of fries large enough to choke a blue whale. Will probably be back, would recommend just as much as I would any other Five Guys. read more

Recommend a hot fresh (double) cheeseburger with 840 calories. In my opinion parking lot could be larger at this location because the lot fills up quickly so better to arrive early than late in the meal cycle. Limited treet parking is within line of sight. Staff is amicable and bathrooms were accessible and clean. If I could wish for any addition to the menu it would be a milk shake. Otherwise service is fast and friendly. read more

If you've been to one Five Guys, you have been to many of them. This Germantown location is the best in the area though. The staff are always very kind and courteous, and your food is prepared promptly and accurately. The location is right off of MD 118, and there is plenty of parking nearby. Make sure to save some time for a walk around the park near the library. read more

I can't find better burgers for a better price. I have never been disappointed in the food. The service is nice albeit a little slow sometimes, especially when younger staff members are working. It's worth it for a fresh burger, though. Five Guys is still better than Smash, KrazE, Elevation, etc. I just wish that they offered milkshakes. read more

If you don't order a burger then you don't mean sh!t. Popped in for a milkshake. I was number 44. Burgers were flying off the grill and no one even looked at the shake machine. There were literally 5 guys behind the counter but that didn't matter. After 48 was called, I inquired about my order. "It's on its way." the guy at the counter stated. Number 50 is called. Again, how about 44? Finally an employee proceeds to make what turned out to be a pretty pedestrian milkshake that was definitely not worth the wait. This was my first visit to this location since we moved here. Moral of the story: always go to Silver Diner for your milkshake needs. read more

Five Guys has a pretty basic menu with a lot of room for personalization with toppings. Burgers, fries. Did you know they have hot dogs? Because they have amazing hot dogs. They cut the hot dog length-wise, which is actually an ingenious idea. They're so good, they don't even need toppings, although I'd recommend the grilled onions. The burgers are awesome and always come out juicy and perfectly cooked. The toppings I've had are always fresh. I've never had a soggy or old piece of lettuce or tomato here like at some other burger places. There's also something about the pickles here - they're so good. The fries put places like McDonald's and Burger King to absolute shame. They taste like actual potatoes, have the skin left on, have a great bite to them, and are always hot and fresh. They're so generous with fries, too. Even if you get a Large size, expect to find a good handful or two of more fries on the bottom of your bag. You can now even order ahead of time using the app and pick up your food in-store. I recently did this and only had to wait a few minutes, which was worth it because they whipped up a fresh batch of fries for us. The app is user-friendly, easy to use, and saves lots of time, especially when ordering multiple burgers with different toppings. The service is surprisingly wonderful. Everyone at this location is friendly, polite, outgoing, and seems to actually enjoy what they do. Everything is clean. There is seating available if you wanna eat inside, but it's not a big place, so I think most people do takeout. Great Five Guys. read more

"For me, an establishment needs to have the whole package, good food, clean facilities and good customer service. Since 2007, i have been boycotting this Five Guys location. Here is the story, my gf and i stopped by here for lunch around 1pm. I wasnt that hungry since i had two slices of pizza for breakfast. We go up to order. She orders the regular cheeseburger. I ordered the little cheeseburger. The cashier chuckles and says " Normally the guy orders the regular burger and the girl orders the little burger" So basically the cashier is calling a WOMAN!!!! So for all my fellow Yelpers in Montgomery County. Please join in my boycott. Addition - also this location is soooo small. I would suggest either the one in the Kentlands or on Gaither Rd near the Best Buy" Seriously??? If your feelings were hurt by this, perhaps the cashier had you pegged from the get go! To call for a boycott because you got teased? Really? Regarding the location beign "soooo small". Five Guys has done a really good job catering their location size to the targeted demographical area. Foot traffic in and around Germantown Towne Center is not as great as in the Kentlands or the office and industrial worker traffic on Gaither Rd. One of the better run Five Guys in McCo. Staff is good at recognizing customers, being friendly and energetic. Very consistent food quality. Sometimes they are short staffed and can't keep the dining area as clean as should be. During the winter the restaurant can get colder inside than one might be comfortable with. read more

It's a great place for burgers. It's not Ray's Hell Burger or some of those other high-end burger joints, but it's a good price and a heckuva burger. I've been to this location several times and haven't had any issues; the fries have always been good, service has always been prompt and courteous, and I've always found the place to be clean. Sure the location is small, but when the weather is nice the outdoor seating is plentiful. To David L., lift the boycott, that dink who made the comment prolly left a long time ago. read more

Shout Out to Caleb and keep up the excellent customer service at Five Guys!!! It's not often I feel compelled to commend fantastic customer service, but Caleb really brightened my evening. He was super courteous, very knowledgeable on food selections and he explained a few unique company trends which set Five Guys apart from other restaurants. Ultimately, Caleb convinced me to try the Kosher Hot Dog and it was way more delicious than he described. I'm sure the thought of my pleasant visit added to me enjoying the meal that much more. This particular restaurant is fairly small - we almost always have trouble getting a seat for my family of 5. This visit was no exception. The burgers and fries are always good - but burgers and drinks for 5, and one large order of fries (which is plenty for us) is $60 - definitely a bit too pricey to come here often. read more

Five Guys is usually a great experience however the Germantown Maryland location continually disappoints. I always get a burger and fries and I did so today. The burger didn't have the five guys taste and the bun was like soft dough. While standing waiting for my order one of the workers pushed a huge trash can right through the kitchen twice. Who does that in front of customers? I have given this location chance after chance but I am never going back. I'll stick with Rockville or Potomac. They are consistently excellent. I am disgusted with this location. I fear for my own safety and am extremely appalled at how we were treated during our visit to this location yesterday. I was with my nephew who was crying hysterically because he was tired. I understand how frustrating and annoying it can be, however there is absolutely no excuse for the way one of the employees here acted. She came out from the kitchen into the lobby and slammed the stools against the counter on purpose, causing a scene and shocking us all. Creating a huge disruptive noise, I guess she was trying to scare my nephew and make him stop crying in the rudest way possible. It was very extremely uncalled for and extremely RUDE. It was very violent and unacceptable. I work in the QSR industry myself and experienced my fair share of both crude customers and crew members but this by far is the most violent and disturbing experience I've experienced. Not only did the employee not give a damn for her actions, another employee was encouraging her and laughing out loud. I can't believe this. This is just unacceptable. Five Guys is our go-to for burgers in Germantown these days. Consistently delicious patties and the fries - OMG so good! They lose a star from me because of the cleanliness of the restaurant and on one of our most recent visits the entire place stank of weed. I'm actually not sure how to rate this place. If you want a cheap, yet highly yummy burger with fries for carry-out, it's 5 stars. Their burgers, toppings and fries are all awesome and you get a lot of food for a small amount of money. It's not fast food, but it's relatively speedy! Basically it's a short-order grill that does burgers and hot dogs with plenty of topping options. Like Fuddruckers, but not full of suck. That said, this location, at least, is pretty small. I don't know that I'd go there to dine in, but I like stopping by on the way home. You're best off if you're buying for two because one order of fries is enough for two people, easily. You would not be amiss to try the bacon burger. This is no fancy place to take your date to. It's a burger joint. But man, those are some good burgers. This location re-opened today after they made some renovations. They installed a new front counter and a new Coca-Cola freestyle machine which allows you to create 100's of unique flavor combinations. I dined on a little bacon cheeseburger with fried onions, lettuce, tomato and mayo along with a regular fires and they added a whole additional scoop on top into the bag. I couldn't leave without trying out the new Coke machine to remix my own creation. My food was still piping hot when I arrived home and the fries were seasoned with salty goodness just how I like them. read more

The French Fries were undercooked. The fries were soggy & greasy and I threw more than half of them away, whereas I usually eat them all. This is the second time this has happened to me at this location and I'm not going back. It also took 15 minutes to get my food, which I can live with, except that others who ordered after me got their food before I did. Also, it wasn't very busy at the time and I was the only one standing at the counter waiting for my food when the guy yells my number real loud, right in my face, as if I wasn't the only one standing there waiting. First, the cashier read back my husbands toppings incorrectly, then charged him for a little and a large fries. Then we waited and waited in a cold restaurant for our food. When we pointed out to staff that their thermostat read 61 degrees, she told us that they don't have heat and she is cold too. Finally, when we received our food, the burgers were dry and barely warm. The grilled onions were not hot. The cheese wasn't even melted, so freshly cooked? I don't think so. Let me start by saying I love 5 Guys. I have been going to many of their locations for many years. I recently went to this Germantown location and am still regretting it. It was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had! The manager yelled at his staff while customers were waiting. The tone was abusive, rude and inappropriate. Then, he sent her away to take over the register and completely messed up my order. After he made the mistake with the order, he blamed me and raised his voice. He made me so uncomfortable, I left without receiving a refund on the overcharge he owed me. Unless this location wants to bite the dust like the California Tortilla that just closed next door, I suggest replacing the manager. But, it might already be too late, I was there on a Sunday at lunch and it was empty. Make the drive to the next closest location, you won't regret it! I've been to this place so many times over the last few years. The quality has never changed. I really really love their burgers and fries. I always order a small fry for myself but I can never finish it. Most recent experience, I called as I was driving to the restaurant. The man who took my order was really nice and funny. He asked how long it would be til I got there and I said about 5 minutes. He said okay, do you want me to drop the fries now or wait til you get in. I said now is fine. I thought that was really considerate of him and shows how fresh everything is here. It is made to order. When I got there, my order was ready (even the burger) and I paid and was on my way. The worst. Went in to order a small fry and was forced to wait for 7 customers ahead of me that ordered a multitude of burger combinations and sides. Why? Because they only fill orders - in order. So if you're just hoping to dash in for a quick fry and dash out, don't. I have been going to five guys since there was only two of them in Virginia and was glad when they finally started expanding. Always a great choice if you are in the mood for a burger.
