Burger was fabulous. Had a little bit of a smoky flavor, onion rings, crisp and on point. Definitely on my burger fave list going forward

Initially stumbled upon this location…read morea year ago when I was shopping at Clarksburg Premium Outlets and it made such a lasting impression that I finally was able to come back for round two. They specialize in Colombian street food, particularly empanadas and hot dogs. Service is quick and they make everything to order. They have a couple of tables and chairs in front of their set-up to enjoy the food. The perro caliente is the star of their menu; I've never had anything like it before coming here. In addition to your standard hot dog, they add mozzarella cheese and onions topped with pineapple sauce, mayoketchup, garlic mayo, and crushed potato chips. The combination sounds wild but the flavors cohesively come together for a delicious bite. I don't even like hot dogs but I was sold in the unique sweet and savory combination of sauces + the incorporation of potato chips. As for the empanada, you can't go wrong with any of their offerings. I've had both the chicken and beef and they were both so tasty. They fry them on the spot and the shell has the perfect crisp with every bite. It comes with a dipping sauce which I believe is one of their mayo sauces which definitely elevates the empanadas. They also offer frozen empanadas that you could take home! I wish I lived closer to enjoy their offerings on the regular. In the meantime, patiently awaiting the opportunity to come back and hopefully bring back a load of frozen empanadas!

This time, (Apr 2026), the "big" one of their two food trucks was among the dozen vendors invited to Food Truck Friday at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department. This larger Catalyst truck serves their full menu: dogs, smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, soft drinks, and more snacks, sides, and sweets. Their menu has ten dressed dogs, vegan dogs, and fourteen toppings for build-it-yourself requests. There are combos that save you a few dollars. Ok, usually, they have those soft beverages, but for this event, the VFD is the sole beverage-seller, at good prices, as a bit of a fundraiser. Of course, we get Catalyst's Chicago dog! Tyler always has poppyseed buns he makes from fresh-baked rolls! They make a perfect mix of toppings with genuine short bitey sport peppers, bright tangy relish and a pickle wedge, fresh dense juicy tomato chunks, bright chopped white onions, good old yellow mustard. Every bite is a delight. Find a Catalyst Hot Dog truck. Get one of the best dogs in the area! For those who wont get to Chi-town any time soon, dive into this Chicago dog. It's authentic! And while that's our go-to, we admit we're coming back to try other vendors at Food Truck Fridays at the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department! But most of all, we're looking forward to Catalyst Hot Dog's brick-and-mortar opening in Burtonsville in the fall of 2026! Oh, and a pro tip: If the listed hot-dog event is at a smaller venue, call that venue ahead of time. Sometimes the events cancel or change dates without enough notice for Catalyst to post about it. I ordered the Fonz Italian Sausage layered with pastrami (seemed like lunch meat) and melted cheese on top. I think it was provolone. Served on a toasted bun. Filling and satisfying, good flavor. The hot fries was a regular order of fries served with an imbalanced sprinkle sort of dumped on the top layer of fries and not distributed all the way through, which had an extra cost of $2 for the sprinkle of spices, which was an annoying difference in price in my opinion. Solid options for beer and a few ciders. Full bar as well. TVs on the walls only showing sports. You get a table number, order at the counter, pay, and they bring it out to the table number. Casual spot. My immediate thoughts...this place is overpriced. My sausage dog, fries and cider came to $26, plus tax, so about $31 bucks. I repeat, $31 bucks. I honestly felt as though the place was price gauaging. A few other people at my table mentioned the prices and thought they were overpriced. Not much service received, just them bringing the order out. Food was yummy, but I'm not convinced about the value. I have had sausage dogs, hot dogs, fries and beer around the world and I feel this place was overpriced. I like the atmosphere because its a perfect place for casual dining and decent for groups.

Some are hit or miss; some like Cryin' Johnnies are very good. Have had several of their hot dogs and flavor wise they do not suck. My go to has always been the Chicago dog. The don't use Vienna Beef dogs but Dietz and Watsons aren't bad. They also don't use poppy seed buns so the taste is a bit different. Tonight I ordered two (missed breakfast and lunch - sue me!). I had to order sport peppers (one of the defining flavors of a real Chicago dog) which was a surprise, the celery salt was missing, and the dogs themselves were cold. May have been the weather, may have been the ride home, but definitely cold. Good taste though (did I mention D&W?). I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because I've really enjoyed them in the past. May update - or even delete - this post the next time they come to our 'hood. One this is for sure: I will eat from the CJ folks in the future.

I also consumed a very good but largely congealed order of Bacon & Cheese Fries. Diane ate a large, elongated Corn Dog, which was fine. No air dryer or paper towels were in the men's restroom, and a cold-water faucet did not work. Also, a gnat flew around the dining room.

The venue can be overwhelming, with lots of choices. One section of the menu was dedicated to hotdogs, one section is dedicated to non-hotdog entrées, and also Appetizers, desserts, and drinks. The dogs here are amazing! I loved the Chicago dog, but when I had my a bite of the Big Mac dog I wished I got that one too. Then we had the pastrami dog making it a three dog night. The fries are also especially delicious because they are crunchy and battered. My little one had a kids meal that came with fries and he was forced to share. With any hotdog, you get your choice of beef,/chicken, or veggie. We went beef all the way, and it was a great choice. The dogs are split and grilled on a flat top, and maintain all of their juicy goodness. And the toppings just enhanced everything. If you're a hotdog purist, ketchup and relish or mustard and onions would also make for perfect dogs. The staff was friendly and super accommodating to a feral toddler. For three hotdogs, a kids meal, I need rings, and drinks, the $40 price felt like a bargain. Great quality and value.

Husband got the foot long coney dog and my son got a sausage with some kind of sauce on it. I eat about 2 hot dogs a year so when I say it was delicious, I mean it. Now the bad. My 4 year old grandson got grilled cheese. It took forever for the food to come out. Like forever forever. He ate like nothing bc he drank his whole drink while we were waiting as we had been at the park for a couple of hours beforehand. I know, not unusual for a little guy. That's not the real problem. I got a side of onion rings and it was almost $5 for like 6 onion rings. Ketchup in little packets... not cost efficient and annoying for us. Had to track down waitress to get husband a second beer and me a first. There was no air conditioning and it was so hot in there!! AND THE WORST THING OF ALL... WHEN THE BILL CAME THERE WAS A 20% INCLUDED GRATUITY FOR "LARGE PARTY", which was not discussed. First of all, it was 4 ppl. That is not a large party. Second of all, this was not mentioned by staff. I see this sometimes with a group of 8 or more and it is usually noted in a menu somewhere or mentioned. But 4 people is not a large party. My husband and I both worked in the restsurant industry in our younger years. We get it, servers need to be taken care of, but come on. BEWARE. I would have gone back for that hot dog even with the sloooowww service and just not gotten a side, but that automatic gratuity thing is ridiculous. Customer lost.

The visit was unique, the story is unique and the food is unique! Let's do this! Established in 1950 or 1954 (reports vary but the sign on the building says 1954), Weenie Beenie was a modest hot dog stand serving hot dogs and beans. It was started by two brothers, Carl and Bill Staton. Bill happened to be an incredible and ultimately famous traveling pool player who went by the name... you guessed it... Weenie Beenie! He won 27k in Arkansas (which is a LOT of money in the 1950's) and used the money to finance the hot dog stand's growth! He appeared on television, played hustlers across the country, and backed other hustlers while living the pool and entrepreneur life. During the 50's, a period of entrenched segregation in Virginia, Weenie Beenie distinguished itself by hiring black employees on the same terms as whites when most white‑owned businesses would not hire blacks at all. This made Weenie Beenie a rare example of early workplace integration in Arlington and a meaningful employer within the historically Black Green Valley community. Its reputation for fairness became a very important part of its legacy, remembered along with the food and its very colorful founder. We popped over and found a 70+ year old walk-up stand with a colorful, diverse and engaging set of customers and friendly service. In faded letters on the front wall to the left are the 10 commandments! No breaking any divine rules at Weenie Beenie's! We all chatted and I learned the one guy comes every day! The old man in the suit was very polite and reserved. The younger Latin and black clientele were fun and engaging and we joked around quite a bit. Another older man was as 38-year veteran of the armed service! Thank you sir! I heard some stories... Of course, we ordered half-smokes! They are well-seasoned half-pork, half beef, smoked sausages that are truly incredible. Weenie Beenie's are unique and delicious! Life is good with a historic, unique, fun and respectful half smoke.
