I'm so happy Eggspectation is making a come back!!!! I used to love brunch here at one of there old location in Downtown Silver Spring which is no longer there. It has to be over 10 years!!!! You can definitely dress up or dress down. Very casual vibe. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Hostess greet you as you enter and guided me to my table promptly. I came on a weekday Monday. So business was kind of slow and also this shopping center is pretty new so I hope they get more foot traffic and business!!!! Now on to my FOOD!!!!!! I loved everything!!!!! Only small suggestion was the fried calamari was on the salty side. I love flavor but it was a little much! If they fix that then I would still order the calamari again!!! With happy memories of meeting our daughter in the Silver Spring Eggspectation (now closed), I was excited to see the Burtonsville location had opened. It's a nice semi-mid place between our home and Jen in Annapolis. Burtonsville Eggspection is bright with plenty of windows. There is an outdoor patio for dining in nice weather. Most of the indoor seating is in booths, which I prefer, with some round tables for larger parties. They also have a really nice private room which looks perfect for gatherings of 12 to 20 people I'd guess. We were seated in a booth in the front of the restaurant, perfect for watching for Jen. As we waited for her our waitress, Alexis, came by and took our drink orders. My bourbon and ginger ale was perfect, one of the best restaurant ones I've had in a long time. Jen was a few minutes late as she had mistakenly gone to the Columbia restaurant. When she walked in she announced "this is much better!" We relaxed for a few minutes and then ordered. I had the Spring lunch taco special. It was good, nice shredded tasty chicken with a soft shell. Rich had the gazpacho soup. It was crab meat, chopped hard boiled egg, avocado, and roasted pumpkin seeds in a pureed tomato broth. It was nice and Rich enjoyed it although I think it was more of an appetizer than a full meal. Jen on the other hand loves breakfast and ordered one of the breakfast specials. It included two eggs. bacon, and French toast or waffle. She asked the waitress which she'd recommend and Alexis said with enthusiasm the French toast, so light and fluffy. After lunch Jen suggested we top it off with a chocolate martini. I was a little disappointed that there weren't more grilled onions. My daughter got the margarita pizza. When she got it, she said it was more like a Chuck E. Cheese pizza. She said it tasted fine but it sure wasn't a margarita pizza. My wife and son really enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was very good. I went for a weekend breakfast with my parents and arrived with a nearly empty dining room at 8:30am -- but business certainly picked up by the time we left. The service was attentive to start, but definitely drifted off early in the meal. Food took a long while to arrive, even with the empty dining room, and we were frequently waiting for drink refills on coffee and water. The food was good, but it wasn't hot when it came out from the kitchen. We eventually had to flag down our server to get our bill. I'm all for a leisurely meal, but this was egregious. So here's my first time at this location, it's a new hidden gem in Burtonsville. I came out to dine in at around 10:30 am for a late breakfast. The place was clean the service was prompt and the servers were amazing. I sat at the bar just to be serviced being I was alone, Kelsey was my bar tender. She was amazing, articulate and helpful... the highlight was she made my latte amazingly well. The taste of the latte was balanced with just enough almond milk for me to still taste the coffee. My partner and I visited Eggspectation in Burtonsville for date night and were excited to try it after enjoying the Silver Spring location which closed. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Our drinks took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and we had already finished our appetizer before they got to the table. We ordered the Cheeky Peach cocktails, but they tasted like alcohol and water with no real flavor. We sent them back and tried the Red Velvet cocktails, only to have the same experience. For $15 drinks, I expected much better, including some flavor and presentation. The salmon was just okay, and the lamb chops weren't memorable. The highlight of the night was the pistachio gelato, which was absolutely delicious and easily the best thing we ordered. I'd be willing to give Eggspectation another chance, but based on this visit, I can't recommend it. Slow service and disappointing cocktails made for a very underwhelming experience. read more

Eggspectations has a lot of potential but missed the mark for me. The space is lovely and has a great aesthetic and feel, but the food is hit or miss and the service isn't great. I got an Arnold Palmer to start which came out very quickly. I also asked for water and I meant water for the table, but the server only brought 1 glass rather than 2. We ordered the duck poutine to share and I ordered the eggspectation breakfast sandwich. The poutine was SO good, super flavorful and the duck was tender and the cheese was great. The sandwich was...meh. The bacon had a weird artificial smoke flavor that I didn't like (I also don't love bacon so do with that what you will), and the sandwich was otherwise dry, it needed more chimichurri, aioli or hot sauce to round out the texture and the flavor. Busy Sunday at 12;20 and we got a table for six faster than expected. Interior is nice but a bit loud. Great menu with something for everyone. I ordered breakfast tacos and expected a warm handheld offering. Instead I was served cold food, eggs, meats, potatoes, on tortillas laid flat on the plate. The decor looks a lot better than how it had been decorated in the past; it's more vibrant and lively. The poutine was supposed to be an appetizer / starter. After about 20 minutes, it came out simultaneously with my omelet... the duck confit poutine was amazing, and I had high hopes. It's amazing to see how Burtonsville Crossing has redeveloped because for many years, it was a ghost town. It has been revived into something much greater and beautiful now. Thoughts on the food and drinks I tried: The Manhattan was strong but good! Definitely asked for some coke with it lol. The garlic bread is flavorful and even had a kick of spice, the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes were so good I wanted more of it. The firecracker shrimp and garlic shrimp were flavorful as well. Crab cake was good, but it had a lot of filler, which is to be expected. I got the Southern omelette and it didn't have any cheese and had quite a bit of eggshells in it, I wasn't impressed for a place called Eggspection. I felt nauseous after eating them. Not sure if it's because of them but affects how I view them unfortunately. Normally I love omelets but i couldnt finish it. Our server was wonderful--she helped me choose a dish, keeping in mind that I don't do well with spicy food. She was right; the spice level was very mild. However, I didn't really enjoy the pasta. As someone who lives in Burtonsville, we had been patiently waiting for some nice restaurants to open around here so it was very nice to see eggspectation open in this area. The restaurant is designed well and is inviting, the servers were all very nice, although service was a bit slow and we could've gotten a bit more attention from our waitress but we went on July 4th on prime brunch time so they were super busy. Food was decent, I got the all American and my husband got the crab cakes- which were actually very small. We also tried their croissant French toast and marshmallow French toast, which were both decent.
