We stopped in for a late breakfast. Big mistake. I can sympathize with businesses that are trying to comply with the new COVID-19 rules, but if you are going to bother to open, you should make sure you have enough staff to operate and clean! We stood waiting for someone to seat us for at least 15 min, we started to leave then but decided to stick it out. They finally seated us then took another 15 min for anyone to even come take our drink order. We were ready to order food but the waitress didn't give us a chance. She finally came back with our drinks and took our order. We unfortunately were seated right by the kitchen. We watched our waitress drop a saucer of small creamers on the floor, pick them up, put them back in the saucer and take them to someone's table. She then proceeded to drop a small stack of pancakes on the floor because she loaded up her arms with plates then decided to try and pour syrup in cups from a large jug. The pancakes sat on the floor for at least 10 min, she finally picked it up, wipped the floor with a napkin, missed the trash can with the napkin and let it lay there. She then proceeded to continue serving without so much as a thought apparently of washing her hands. We were getting ready to get up and leave when a gentleman saw us and asked if we had ordered, we told him, yes, a very long time ago. He went in and picked up our food which had been sitting on the counter for a long time. He tried to bring it to us and we respectfully declined and left. We were there for a least an hour. Very dirty. Cook did not get the order right. Scrambled is not how you make over medium eggs. The bathrooms were disgusting. However, I did learn something. Manager is very rude and doesn't know how to estimate how long it will be to get seated. It took twice as long as they said to get seated. 20 min to almost 45 min to get seated. Okay I was glad to eat here today and was glad to see that they had gluten free pancakes and they were actually pretty good. Okay the eggs over easy were a bit under cooked, the portion of ham was extremely small, but the hash browns were pretty good. The server Danielle was great. Unbelievable. This was our second location to stop at as the first about 3 miles away had a very odd vibe upon arriving. There were only 4-5 people seated, with many empty tables, and a wait. Restaurant was filthy and had a realtor type key pad lock box on the door. We left and found this specific IHOP hoping for better conditions. We were greeted by a very nice young man named Deandre. It appeared maybe this location might be understaffed as well, which seems to be a common problem everywhere. No manager appeared to be present. Upon being seated and order taken we were gives plastic silverware to eat our food with. When we asked about real silverware, the waitress politely informed us that their dish washer was new and he was behind. This restaurant was filthy as the other from TOP to BOTTOM. I can't imagine this place being sufficient by any health department. Is this what America is going to see everywhere? read more

Stopped in for dinner while pass thru Amarillo. We were seated fairly quickly and then it went downhill from there. Took over 5 minutes for the waiter to come and ask us for drinks. Drinks came out incorrectly and when I asked for it to be fixed, he questioned me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Staff in the kitchen was rude and unprofessional. The continued to argue about who sat which table instead of helping the customers that hadn't been helped. My family was staying the night in Amarillo as we were passing through. We had dinner here. The service was slow and our table was often neglected but we felt bad for the waitress because she was the only one working and it was busy. So we purposely didn't bother her for things like refills. The waitress was our cashier so I gave her my card and a better than usual tip. BUT the next day while getting gas in another town I discovered she never gave me back my card. I was about to call this IHOP and ask them to please just cut up my card and I'd just get a new one from my bank when I got home. But, I figured I better check my bank account first just to be safe. Sure enough, there were two charges on my card, one for $500 at a grocery store and $20 at a gas station in Amarillo where we never went. I called the manager and he said he'd speak to the night manager and the district manager. Now I'm back home having to fill out all the fraud paper work with my bank to get my money back. So, in short, an employee at this IHOP robbed me. I wouldn't call that good customer service. In fact, I'd say that's pretty much one of the worst things you can do to a customer. read more

Let me say the server was good but the restaurant left a bit to be desired. The garbage can by the door was overflowing and garbage was flying around the bushes. The glass doors to enter the building were dirty. My crispy hash brown were on the burnt side. I was told they come that way or the regular way (my guess would be undercooked). My French toast was cold and not because I at the eggs first. They landed on the table cold. When ie asked for hot French toast, I was asked if I wanted them heated in the microwave or a fresh batch. If I could leave minus stars, I would. We arrived at 8:30pm. There were two tables occupied. We were seated and given menus and gave our beverage order. We ordered black tea and decaf coffee. When I got the tea, it was green tea, with no explanation. We ordered buttermilk chicken cutlets with macaroni and cheese and broccoli. We got our meals after a reasonable wait. I immediately cut into the chicken, and it was hot. I then took a bite of the Mac and cheese. It was just out of the refrigerator cold. The broccoli was tepid. I found our server and said that the food was cold. She apologized, but did not seem very concerned. After a 5 - 7 minute wait, she returned. I checked the macaroni and it was barely warm and the broccoli was now cold. I expressed my dissatisfaction and said that we would pay for our beverages and that we were leaving. She returned a few minutes later with a check, which did surprise me since the problem was obviously the restaurant's fault. I asked to see the manager. Shortly later, a woman showed up and said she was the manager. She did not seem to be very concerned about the problem either. While I was still speaking to her, a man showed up. He was the real manager. He too was completely unapologetic and said something to the effect that he was glad we were leaving. After getting served dirty dishes for the third (!) time I feel the need to inform the public (twice they gave me a coffee cup that had previous' lady's lipstick still on there! Another time I got silverware with traces of dried food residues!) Not only will I never go there again but also do I hope they get an inspection! My water tasted like they drew it out of an old well in the back and my girlfriend's tasted like dish soap, but the service was damn fine. The blond guy who served us here knew the menu well enough to accommodate my vegetarianness (shredded beef migas sans meat) and my gf's distaste for pancakes ("Welcome to the International House of Pancakes," he says), and he was attentive throughout the midnight meal.
