I loved the vibe as soon as I walked in. Poured concrete walls, encased the space. It adds a sense of permanence and stability. The large glass case racked with bottles of wine greets you with elegance as you are invited into the dining area. Dazzling smiles on the faces of the host encouraged me to sit anywhere I choose. I chose the bar. At the bar, we all happen to be business casual. However I believe anyone would be welcome here from the construction worker to the executive. The bar is roomy without being overly spacious which would make it seem sparse. There is a good balance of chairs, some tables along the wall and room to move around. As I sit down at the bar a small mechanical fan is whirling in my face. The bartender politely moves it to my right and informs me it is a fly deterrent. Unfortunately it is needed. There were a few flies that wanted to see who was invading their space but the fan kept them at bay. I stuck to water, sorry no commentary on the wide selection of spirits. As a bourbon fan I will state that 4 different Wellers, A bottle of Blantans and Blantans Reserve, EH Taylor, and the Angles Envy was seated near the well bourbon, so someone knows what's up. As an appetizer I ordered the blueberry, candied pecan and feta spring salad with pickled onions and a peach vinaigrette. Unfortunately I made some changes so I can't comment on how good their salad is but they had no problem accommodating me. The only downside is that they forgot the pecans. I was brought a silver container to add it into the salad myself. I contemplated asking them to make it again but decided against it. They did make my changes with no fuss. I will state that the pecans should be relegated to lightly sweetened not candied. Regardless I was really excited by my order of Steak Frites and I added a side of Mushroom Risotto. The excitement dissipated after I was served. The first thing that threw me off was the Mushroom Risotto. It had zucchini, green peppers, and squash mixed in...what??? I didn't want a vegetable medley, just a creamy Risotto with the umami flavor that mushrooms bring. I got nothing of the sort. The Risotto was bland, kind of mush and just not appealing. I tried adding salt and pepper but this dish was beyond saving. I usually order my steaks medium-rare because if they mess it up it will still come out medium and edible. Yeah it came out closer to medium, more on that later. Online the picture showed the Steak Frites being plated nicely with the fries in a holder and the steak slice and fan out. That is not what I got. I got a bunch of fries dumped on a plate, the steal was sliced but just put on top of the fries and chimichuri sauce cast upon the pile with the skill of Harry Potter casting his first spell. Levioso, except it all fell flat. Well it was a flat iron steak, so there's that. All that said, the fries were delicious. Best part of the meal. They looked hand cut, still had a little skin on them, salted perfectly, absolutely addictive! While my steak was slightly over, it was very tender. I did not need the steak knife. The chimichuri had just the right amount of zest! I did not like it on my fries but that's not a deal breaker. Overall I think this place had some fine attributes. Delicious. Ambience slightly classy but still a fun vibe, food is a step above, and our waiter David was excellent. I got the steak frites with chimichurri and my husband got the blackened Cajun Alfredo with seared tuna. Our dishes were so delicious that we kept eating off each other's plates, and the portions were generous enough that we had some leftovers for later. There are a few seating areas, and we chose the dining area as we don't drink. On a future trip when it's less hot, the upstairs patio looks really fun. I think service could have been a little better but that might've been because there wasn't much staff. But the happy hour menu and food made up for the service. I enjoyed a few glasses of the house white blend. I also split a charcuterie board with some ladies. Towards the end I ordered the chicken piccata which was DELICIOUS. This was a pleasant surprise in downtown Amarillo. The reviews are correct, this restaurant was delightful. The food was delicious and beautifully displayed. My father in law got the shrimp and is still talking about it several days later. I had one of the fish dishes and subbed veggies for rice and it was delectable. The restaurant had some beautiful large wood pieces on the wall and as a long table. The service also was great. Definitely go check this place out! read more

Let me tell you - I took a lunch and wanted a quick meal as I waited for 10 minutes to order - the quick BLT came to table looking like it was assembled by a toddler - sandwich was scattered across plate - bacon was not cooked all the way and toast was black in areas - would have said something but wait staff were non-existent!!! Had to get up and find someone to pay for a shitty $20 sandwich! Next time, will skip the idea of a nice lunch downtown!!! read more

Horrible across the board. We ordered margaritas to start. I don't know what we were served but they weren't margaritas. So bad. Sent them back. Ordered burgers and fries. I asked for my burger medium rare and was told they were not able to do that. Then I realized why. This burger appeared to be precooked, frozen, then reheated to serve. Tasted as good as sawdust. The fries were the soggiest that I've ever been served. It was inedible. I forced down maybe 20% of it and left. read more

What a great find in Amarillo, Texas! Came through here on a road trip and we were so glad to find this place! The restaurant was located in the "downtown" area and it was super scenic. We sat outside and took in the street. The inside was also so gorgeous! Next, our waitress was so kind, friendly, patient and informative! She made our dining experience so awesome and gave us great recommendations for our limited time in Amarillo. I think her name was Sydnie, so shout out to her!! Lastly, the food was top notch! However, the dining room was empty except for one table when we arrived (there were a few people dining outdoors). Maybe that was a sign. The food was bad. I ordered the coconut shrimp, which is served over risotto. First off, the risotto was barely lukewarm. It must have been sitting waiting for the shrimp. Speaking of the shrimp, it was definitely frozen coconut shrimp and not coated in house. The "apricot brandy glaze" was poured all over the shrimp, and it had an overwhelmingly sweet taste. Cloyingly sweet. My companions did not fare much better, including one whose entree was undercooked. The service was no better: instead of trying to make the crappy food experience right, he opted to do nothing at all. Very disappointing experience. Go elsewhere if you want a good meal. read more

Crush left me completely baffled. Despite the done-right demiglaze, the duck was tough and undercooked, barely edible after removing a layer of fat that should have seared instead of cold. The risotto was flat and runny, overpowered by a blue cheese treatment that should never be paired with the duck, let alone asparagus with wooden ends. My wife had the shrimp, packaged and slathered in a warm sauce that couldn't save the dish. Her risotto was equally sad. The hero of the meal was a lonely peach salad. And that's saying something, given the peaches were likely canned. If this is what passes for fine dining in Amarillo, I'm sorry for the town. Or maybe not. Crush was mostly empty on a Thursday night - a couple people who were smarter than us, ordering something more akin to the chef's skill level: nachos and hamburgers. For my trouble, the server offered an apology but never made it right. No inspection, no discount, no offer of a different meal or even a free dessert.
