The large glass case racked with bottles of wine greets you with elegance as you are invited into the dining area. Dazzling smiles on the faces of the host encouraged me to sit anywhere I choose. I chose the bar. At the bar, we all happen to be business casual. However I believe anyone would be welcome here from the construction worker to the executive. The bar is roomy without being overly spacious which would make it seem sparse. There is a good balance of chairs, some tables along the wall and room to move around. As I sit down at the bar a small mechanical fan is whirling in my face. The bartender politely moves it to my right and informs me it is a fly deterrent. Unfortunately it is needed. There were a few flies that wanted to see who was invading their space but the fan kept them at bay. I stuck to water, sorry no commentary on the wide selection of spirits. As a bourbon fan I will state that 4 different Wellers, A bottle of Blantans and Blantans Reserve, EH Taylor, and the Angles Envy was seated near the well bourbon, so someone knows what's up. As an appetizer I ordered the blueberry, candied pecan and feta spring salad with pickled onions and a peach vinaigrette. Unfortunately I made some changes so I can't comment on how good their salad is but they had no problem accommodating me. The only downside is that they forgot the pecans. I was brought a silver container to add it into the salad myself. I contemplated asking them to make it again but decided against it. They did make my changes with no fuss. I will state that the pecans should be relegated to lightly sweetened not candied. Regardless I was really excited by my order of Steak Frites and I added a side of Mushroom Risotto. The excitement dissipated after I was served. The first thing that threw me off was the Mushroom Risotto. It had zucchini, green peppers, and squash mixed in...what??? I didn't want a vegetable medley, just a creamy Risotto with the umami flavor that mushrooms bring. I got nothing of the sort. The Risotto was bland, kind of mush and just not appealing. I tried adding salt and pepper but this dish was beyond saving. I usually order my steaks medium-rare because if they mess it up it will still come out medium and edible. Yeah it came out closer to medium, more on that later. Online the picture showed the Steak Frites being plated nicely with the fries in a holder and the steak slice and fan out. That is not what I got. I got a bunch of fries dumped on a plate, the steal was sliced but just put on top of the fries and chimichuri sauce cast upon the pile with the skill of Harry Potter casting his first spell. Levioso, except it all fell flat. Well it was a flat iron steak, so there's that. All that said, the fries were delicious. Best part of the meal. They looked hand cut, still had a little skin on them, salted perfectly, absolutely addictive! While my steak was slightly over, it was very tender. I did not need the steak knife. The chimichuri had just the right amount of zest! I did not like it on my fries but that's not a deal breaker. Overall I think this place had some fine attributes. I'd definitely come back and bring some friends.

Next was the Bomb City Cosmo, another refreshing cocktail also served in a martini glass. We ordered appetizers and dinner, and everything was great. The menu comes from Toscana Italian restaurant upstairs, and we enjoyed every dish. For appetizers, we had the spinach artichoke dip and pretzel bites--very creamy, and the pretzel bites were warm and delicious. We also tried two salads: the BLT Wedge Salad and the Shaved Brussels Sprout Parmesan Salad. Both were hearty and very filling. We finished with the chocolate pistachio cake, which was a delightful dessert. Happy Hour: Their website advertises $6 liquor Monday through Friday from 5-7 PM. However, the bartender didn't seem to honor it, saying happy hour is upstairs--though that's not what the website states. He did make it right by charging only for two drinks, which equaled the price of the three drinks that should have been on happy hour. Hopefully they begin honoring the posted happy hour pricing. Overall, this was an excellent experience, and I look forward to returning. Evelyn, our server, was very attentive and kind throughout our visit.

She suggested a few places, but she heavily emphasized Public House as the restaurant to take her to. We had a reservation at 7:15 pm on a Friday and arrived just a few minutes early. They were very busy and we had to wait an additional 15 minutes to get seated. The waitstaff was super apologetic, but it was also college graduation night for some, so it was simply very busy. We were seated in their main dining room, though the reservation had options for their lounge and their bar as well. Our waitress came by with a carafe of water and gave us their drink menu. For starters, I ordered a Blue Bumble Bee and my girlfriend ordered the Harvest Martini. It was very fruity and herbal. Their cocktails ranged between $11 and $15. They also had an extensive draft list available on Untappd and plenty of wine options. As an appetizer, my girlfriend really wanted their Fried Cheese Curds, which she described as amazing. They were served with ranch and a raspberry habanero jelly that was very good. The fruity sweetness hits first, with the habanero flavor coming in on the back end and sneaking up on you. The curds themselves were excellent. They were perfect to share for two, but I think they would be unsatisfying for more than three. We both ordered a side Caesar salad made with their house Caesar dressing, parmesan chips, croutons, and parmesan cheese. You can always taste a fresh salad and this was proof of that. I liked it a lot and ate the entire thing. For our main entrees, my girlfriend ordered the Lamb Lollipop Chops. They are listed as an appetizer, but the four lamb chops were filling enough for her. I ordered the special of the day, a Beef Wellington served with seasonal vegetables of chopped sweet potatoes and asparagus. The Wellington also came with mashed potatoes. It was recommended medium rare, which is how I ordered it. I thought it was really delicious. I am still thinking about how doughy and flavorful it was, especially with the prosciutto. Our waitress mentioned they had sold out of it every night for the past few nights. Both the Lamb Chops and the Beef Wellington were market price. Everyone acts gangster until those MKT prices turn into $45 for an entrée. I am usually the one ordering something cheaper than my girlfriend so I can jokingly say she is expensive, but when her entrée was $29 and mine was $45, I could only clown myself. All of this still came in under $180 before tip, and there were plenty of more affordable options on the menu. Two standard entrees, two salads, an appetizer, and two drinks could easily keep your bill under $100 before tip, which makes Public House approachable for a nice night out. If you thought we were done, you would be surprised. For dessert, we debated between their crème brûlée special with strawberries and their Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. When we asked our waitress, she immediately recommended the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake with no hesitation, so that is what we ordered. I had never had one before and was impressed by its flavor. It was served with plenty of whipped cream and reminded me of fried cheesecake in terms of texture. Side note, my girlfriend told me the ooey gooey part of its name refers to the type of butter cake and is not just a silly name, so I will continue to refer to it by its full name out of respect. We also ordered dessert cocktails, with both of us choosing the Kevin McAllister, which was described as an adult apple juice. It was made with a house made caramel infused vodka that was excellent. It truly lived up to the description and paired well with the dessert. I would definitely return to Public House the next time I am back in Amarillo. It was a fantastic dinner to share with someone I love. The staff were attentive and on point, and once we were seated everything moved efficiently despite the short wait. As we walked out of the restaurant, I took a picture of my beautiful girlfriend in front of the Public House sign. A couple asked if we wanted our picture taken. Totally relaxed and chill ambiance. I'll be back to try more items! My one dislike was that I don't care for the balsamic drizzle on either dish... just doesn't pair well with these flavors. Side of pineapple was yummy to balance the heaviness of both dishes.

My partner got the bone-in ribeye but for some reason it did not actually come with a bone, which was odd but not a huge deal for us. I loved the flavorful, medium rare 12 oz ribeye, which was juicy and flavorful without too much fat. The fried okra and mac and cheese sides were tasty too. I also loved the free plastic cups they gave out, which were a great souvenir of our time at the memorable Big Texan Steak Ranch! Everyone in the area should give this place a try at least once.

He packaged it and took care of getting it shipped through FedEx after I sent him a prepaid label. When the purse arrived safely, we discovered that they had even included a Six Car T-shirt, mug, bandana, and stickers as a surprise. That's the kind of customer service and hospitality you remember.
