Amazing food made with quality ingredients is hard to find in Amarillo, especially if you're not a fan of steak (like me). Fortunately, Sa vór Tapas exists. My husband and I ordered the escargot as an appetizer and it was delicious. They serve it with a mini Texas toast which acts like a sponge for all the buttery-garlic flavor of the escargot. After that, we both ordered different paella dishes. Each were equally tasty and the portions were generous. Maybe a bit too generous as I didn't have room for any dessert. Food is pretty good except the filet and decor is great but the service is absolutely horrible! Dishes not out in order and wanted a glass of wine with our steak but it was brought out after we'd completed the meal. Every table around us were getting frustrated with the service, waiting on drinks, checks etc. 3 girls standing idle to clear tables but left dirty used dishes on everyone's table while eating next course. Great find in BBQ country. Tapas are a change of pace and so fun. Tiny plates of interesting food. It was such a pretty patio too lots of green plants. Everyone was very sweet to our Dog too which was so nice. It was very relaxing after a long drive and reminded me of Home (California.) I think the menu changes often but we gt these small red peppers stuffed with cheese and almonds and drizzled with honey - they were so good. We visited on our anniversary. Hugh, our waiter, was phenomenal! The chef started things off with hors d'oeuvres. Today's what an olive and fig wrapped in prosciutto. So good! We had the charcuterie board. Shared the 12 oz. Ribeye and added shrimp. I hate Brussels sprouts, but these were tender, slightly crispy pockets of vegetative heaven. I had w as noted to take my husband here for a while. We learned that Sunday isn't the best day: weekend or less experience waitstaff, and perhaps less fresh food. We waited a loooong time for our food. Server was less attentive than we expected. When the meals finally came, he mumbled something about a mix-up in the kitchen. I said that the food looked like it had been standing a while. He said that it gets served as soon as it is ready. He apologized. The manager came by and apologized, giving us a 10% discount. The food was decent. The decor is nice. It wasn't the best experience or taste we've had; we've both lived in Europe, so we could compare it to Spanish food. We had a very poor experience this evening at Savor off Hillside. Poor customer service and not a good restaurant if you have food allergies! My daughter wanted to go to Savor for her birthday (she is not Celiac, but I am). When I called ahead to discuss the menu they assured me that they had plenty of options and were very familiar with gluten free. Everything I was told over the phone was not my experience. We had made a reservation with text confirmation and when we got there, the hostess did not have our table ready, they had given it to someone else and said it would be 10 minutes. 30 minutes later we sit down. Waitress gave me my options, which were not what was given to me over the phone earlier that day when I called. Even after extensive discussion with our waitress, they bring out our food, which should have been a split steak between my husband and I. It was all cross contaminated. I discussed all my frustrations with the manager and the lack of communication and care for their customers. I was so disappointed that even though the order was not correct we were still charged completely. Just a heads up, they do not have any knowledge in gluten free. The booths and tables are so beautiful and present staff. They bring you a tapa and waters to start and also give recommendations if you need it. I don't remember the name of the appetizer but it was cherry tomatoes with goat cheese in them... you take one bite and flavor explodes. I got a NY strip and my date got the filet mignon. Our first experience at Savor was when they were doing a soft opening, and if I am honest, I wasn't too impressed. The menu was limited of course, and nothing stood out. When my wife and I couldn't get reservations anywhere in town for Valentine's Day, we saw Savor was doing a 4 course meal for two, so we tried it. Best decision! The food was amazing, each dish was very well thought out and flavorful. The server I had was phenomenal, I cannot remember his name, but quite possibly the best server I have ever had. BEWARE: Overpriced and underwhelming. Our party of 4 primarily had tapas. The paperdew peppers with goat cheese were excellent and the octopus was very nice. The 4 ping pong sized meatballs were average, but at a cost of $19, were simply ridiculous for the price. The handful of pickled melon, that were size of sugar cubes, with ham were weird and again way expensive for what you received. Our initial tapas dropped several minutes before our drink orders--placed ahead of our tapas--arrived. We would consider returning if the food was half the price of our $270 bill which included a round of drinks, around 9 tapas and a plate of oily, salty paella. Hard to believe this restaurant is by the owner of the Drunken Oyster where we have had several excellent, well-priced meals. We will not return. read more
