Visiting Amarillo for work and saw that OHMS was walking distance from my hotel so I decided to check it out. The restaurant has a simple and short menu, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and try their Elk Tenderloin w/ Mushroom Risotto. I was a little cautious initially as I thought the meat would be too gamey for my liking but the waitress assured me that the meat would be mild and not overwhelming. I ordered it medium rare and was surprised by how delicious and firm the meat was. With Amarillo being the nation's beef capital, I fell in love with an Elk Tenderloin instead. Don't get me wrong, I love a good steak but the Elk opened my eyes to an entirely new world of flavor. I'm looking forward to my next meal at OHMS.

Probably the best meal that we've had in three years! The service was great too. And the place is so cool

After many good reviews, I walked away from Ohms hungry, drunk, and $130 poorer for 2 people. Ribeye Steak was way overcooked, and wife's chicken was dry and cold. Appetizer was decent not worth it though. The service was good and the location is very nice. Would not recommend.

Well darn, now I'll never get to try other restaurants in Amarillo. Amazing service, amazing food. Started with their chicharrones - amazing jalapeño jam for dipping. They had a tomato cocktail that was made with gin, aperol, Montenegro, tomato shrub, and bitters - such a well balanced cocktail. Their blue cheese dressing is some of the best I've had. And then to finish it all - their pork chop with green chile Mac & cheese was delightful! Can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu. Make sure to make reservations - this place was packed! As it should be!

The salmon is delicious, the service was great, served quickly with appetizers and entree. The ambiance is nice, the wine displays are pretty.

Perfect example why I use Yelp for everything, Ohms cafe and bar. Dropped in for dinner and sat at the bar. I was alone and not drinking so I ordered a Topo with lime. Cold and crisp! I really wanted to try the elf tenderloin after reading the reviews, but unfortunately they were out. For my entree I ordered the surf and turf. The options for seafood were shrimp or sea bass cheek and I went with the cheek. I subbed my starch for extra veggies. Food wasn't bad, minus the fish being over cooked and dry. Bass ended up being rubbery.. but I ate it anyway. Service was okay. Based off conversations I heard, sounds like there's a lot of regulars at Ohms. I would come back to give it another shot (and try the tenderloin).

I had several friends tell me to check this place out. We went during the week just before 7pm and was seated promptly. The appetizers were good but wasn't to happy with the Old Fashion cocktail. Overall the service was great! I will say it gets loud in the dinning area, so if your looking for something romantic this isn't the spot, but if you want to tune out your significant other this would be the place.

Ohms was a nice find in downtown Amarillo. We sat at the bar. It's a warm cozy space and even with almost every stool being used was quiet enough for conversation. The starters are inventive and enough for a light meal. We had the fried oysters, piping hot with a light cornmeal breading. The smoked shrimp cocktail is fantastic and the spicy chili broccoli would make anyone a veggie fan. For dinner we had the barramundi served with fresh vegetables. The fish was flaky and tasty. The filet served with mashed potatoes was also very well prepared and tasted great. The family that owns the restaurant really enjoys what they do and it shows. We got to chat with several regulars while sitting in the bar area. Give it a try if you pass through Amarillo.

When I walked in, the place was absolutely packed with TTUHSC or TTU Vet Med students who were celebrating finishing their final classes for the year. It was quite busy with a large line in front of me, and since I was staying for a while, I was not in a rush. I ordered a lavender latte, and after waiting just over 15 minutes behind the gaggle of people who ordered before me, my hot beverage was ready. I really liked the cup they served it in. It had a cute mountain gradient with their logo on top. The coffee itself was pretty good. It was not anything groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Having to briefly hop on a call with my boss, I went out to their small outdoor patio and took the call. It was also a pretty decent spot for getting some work done. They serve a ton of different options, and it is probably a popular stop for people in the surrounding medical district to get a quick coffee boost. There were also plenty of people drinking beers and mimosas when I came in, celebrating their semester coming to a close at 9:30 in the morning, so good for them. You love a catch all spot. Ever since my first adventure to Amarillo, I have made a point to visit Palace Coffee Co. This place has always been there for me, and I have always thought they do a pretty bang-up job. I had not been back to Amarillo in a few years. After graduating college, there was not much reason to make the trip until I started dating my girlfriend, whose family lives in Amarillo. Wanting to be present and involved with her family meant making the drive up from Austin, a 7+ hour trek that feels like one for the history books. Since I was back in town, revisiting Palace felt like an easy decision. They have never done me wrong. I have always liked this café. It has great energy, solid music, and a clean space. The darker, almost matte black aesthetic was comforting back when I was still in school and visiting Amarillo. I had gotten work done here before, so while working remotely during this trip, Palace felt like the right place to be productive. We arrived on a Wednesday morning. I logged onto the Wi-Fi, plugged into one of their outlets, and got to work. My girlfriend was there finishing up some schoolwork for Texas Tech, so it was shaping up to be a productive morning. When we ordered, she got a cappuccino with chocolate, and I ordered a lavender latte with oat milk. I also grabbed one of their cinnamon twists for breakfast. Not long after, our drinks were brought to our table. From where we were sitting, we could see the roasting, packaging, and preparation of coffee for distribution in the back, which was a really cool view. There was also a new barista being trained on different coffee methods, which was nice to see. As for my lavender oat milk latte, it was good. I genuinely think Palace makes some of the best lattes in Amarillo, and I still have not found another place in town that tops them. That said, I am not sure if it was nostalgia or just an off day, but it was not quite as good as I remembered. The espresso did not feel as strong or forward as usual. It was not bad at all, and they still did a great job, but I remember it being more comparable to some of my favorite coffee shops across Texas. This time, it felt just a step below that memory. That said, it was still very good, and it could have easily been an off day or my own palate. The cinnamon twist was big, filling, and excellent. I liked it, my girlfriend liked it, and everyone was happy. Palace clearly knows what they are doing and how to create a great experience alongside a great latte. For that reason alone, it remains a must-stop when visiting Amarillo. RIYL: coffee in the Yellow City

I always find it interesting how many medium sized cities have a localized coffee chain that is so deeply rooted in the community. In Round Rock, it is Lamppost. In Amarillo, it is Roasters. There are quite a few Roasters locations in Amarillo, but the true OG is located off Georgia Street. I got there around 8:30 in the morning and it was capital B busy. Every table except one was occupied and the drive thru was wrapping around the building. By the time I got inside, I only had a short wait before ordering. I ordered a simple vanilla latte with oat milk in a medium size, along with a pumpkin spice muffin. For how busy it was, I was expecting to wait a while, but they churned drinks out pretty quickly. The barista even signaled to me to come grab the drinks for my girlfriend and me because I did not believe they had been made that fast. The coffee itself was pretty good. It leans on the sweeter side and is more focused on flavor than being espresso forward. It is clear why this place is such a staple in Amarillo. I also really liked that they had coffee sleeves that looked like Christmas sweaters and flannels for the season. It was a cute touch. It is a cute space and feels pretty traditional. One random thing I noticed was the pictures of Ronald Reagan on the walls. I do not know the reason or if it is some sort of long running joke, but it exists, along with books about Reagan scattered around the shop. There is only one single use bathroom, so on a busy morning it can take a bit if you need to use it. Every day, Roasters offers a coffee of the day on drip. I went to another location later in the week and tried it there as well, and it was good too. I think Roasters is a great option for coffee in the area and proves why it has been a staple for Amarillo residents since the 1990s. Regardless of the Reaganomics for whatever reason, Roasters can trickle down some coffee. RIYL: coffee and pictures of Ronald Reagan
