Are you familiar with the term "boondocks"? I've heard it's a Filipino word that means "remote mountain" and like so many other words, it's been coopted into the English language. In English, it means "remote" as in "I've been camping out in the boondocks." Following so far? Because the RVers have taken it one further and it's called "Crackerdocking" and it means "spending the night in a Cracker Barrel parking lot." First, Cracker Barrel has been my favorite breakfast stop while traveling for years, and I expected a much better experience than what we had here. Our waitress disputed it when I inquired about something that used to be on the menu, but no longer is and she firmly said they'd never had it. That's really not so bad, but we got the bill and it was $75 and, turns out, she had given us a bill for ours and another table's. It took 30 minutes for my husband to get it corrected. The cashier got the waitress up there and she "couldn't remember" what we had. It was mass confusion. The manager got involved and they finally figured it out and our bill was actually $20-something, and they had to back it all out in their system and start over. I'm sure the other customers waiting to check out were frustrated, too. It seemed there was a lot of confusion out front among the staff. I joined waitlist @ 10:38am and checked in as soon as I arrived. When I arrived they told me there was an hour wait for our party of seven. We waited and waited over an hour. Every time I asked they told me there were five parties ahead of us. We went for lunch today. It was very busy but we were assured it would only be a 30 min wait. The retail area was very crowded with customers and JAMMED with merchandise. There was no place to stand and wait and an employee scolded us for "being in the way". When we asked where should we stand, she said she didnt know. After waiting almost 1.5 hours we were seated. The chairs and the floor were filthy. It took another 45 min to get food and then..... the ticket of sausage and eggs had been split! Half of the table was served and 15 min later, the rest of us were served. The tables were so close to each other, the servers could not walk around the tables!!! They had to serve from one end. There were two managers who stood at the end of the dining room, watching the melee and visiting with each other. We have always been pleased with our experiences at Cracker Barrel, so this was a shock. We were there 2.5 hours, had lousy service, and the facility was DIRTY. We wont be going back. read more

Seriously, why do I always see low ratings on CrackerBarrel restaurants! They've been in business for the longest time and people flock to that place all the time. Misleading description of menue item. Cheeseburger was described as containing bacon. However, the selection process called for additional $$ to get the bacon. I did not choose bacon for additional $$. My cheeseburger came without bacon. Also I selected the meat to be cooked medium, but it came cooked well done. I stopped at this restaurant Wednesday Feb 28 while driving through Amarillo with my service dog The hostess found us a table right away since the restaurant wasn't too busy The waitress took my drink order and few minutes later she came back with my soda saying she was told ( by the manger probably) that my dog wasn't allowed to drink it inside the restaurant and if I wanted a bowl of water I needed to go outside So i left Life is too short to deal with arrogant idiots... I remember cracker barrel having better food. Real country food! I ordered "Homestyle Chicken with French toast" thinking the chicken would be a nice golden friend chicken piece. However, I received a small piece of chicken that appeared to be a frozen chicken patty, and the French toasts were also small triangles, something you would give to a child! The plate was just all wrong all the way around. I think I am done eating at cracker barrels! The country feel and food is gone, and we are left with typical frozen food! The country taste is gone! This store provided me exactly what I expected from a cracker barrel. There are times when the food options at a cracker barrel are exactly what you are looking for. The food here is consistent with the brand and had good flavors. I always want the dumplings and I got a great side dish of dumplings with my meal. The reason for the three-star review is that the restaurant did not feel overly clean. The floor was sticky throughout and the wait staff was not trying to bus their tables at all, so you were surrounded by table after table of dirty dishes. It was like remains from a battle that had occurred on the dining room floor. Out wait staff was not very efficient either, I just wanted to provide some training to help make their life easier and I have never waited a table in my life. If you are traveling down the highway or just pulled into the hotel later in the night, then you can get a reliable meal here at Cracker Barrel. read more

I love Cracker Barrel and for the most part have never had any problems, but this experience has to be told. My husband and I were passing through Amarillo on the 14th of July 2022 and decided to use the Cracker Barrel App to order take out from this specific store. When I went to pick up the food, there was only one employee at the front counter and she was in a deep conversation with two other people and I waited for at least five minutes before she finally addressed the fact that I was waiting. I told the young lady that I was unable to order brown gravy by itself and asked if i could also get that with my order. She talked to someone over her little headset and then told me it would be here in a minute. Five more minutes go by and she is still talking to people about things that were not business related. They brought up a cup of gravy and she hands it to me...I looked at her and said what about my order. She then pointed to a large shelf where a bag and a refreshment were sitting and said that is yours. First off, I have never had to pick up my own food from the shelf and secondly she did not take the time to go over my order to make sure we received everything. When I got back to our hotel room, I noticed that we did not receive the cornbread muffins we requested, instead it was three biscuits and one lil ole cornbread muffin. Me and my husband only eat biscuits at breakfast. We had ordered additional sides of Mashed Potato's and gravy, along with extra sides of Mac and cheese. My husbands plate consisted of Hamburger Steak and Green beans....he had ordered green beans, Mac and Cheese and an extra side of Mac and Cheese. My plate consisted of Pinto Beans and Greens, but my extra Mashed Potatoes were not there. I reviewed the receipt and discovered that someone had marked through the Mac and Cheese orders and the Mashed Potatoes, stating that these were not available. Why was I not told about this when I picked it up. Each side was an additional $2.99, but they didn't even credit my card back. To make matters worse, the brown gravy was full of onions....who asked for onions? It looked like maybe it was gravy that normally goes on a pot roast not on ordinary orders. I noticed that the pinto beans on my plate were full of green beans...how does that happen. When I saw that I couldn't even eat that or the greens. It was almost as if someone cleaned a plate off into my order. I also noticed bits of Mac and cheese mixed in the gravy...what the???? It was disgusting. Please think twice about ordering take out from this place...you may have better luck dining in, not sure but you may get luckier than I did. We will never visit this specific Cracker Barrel again. Whoever owns this place may want to provide more training to your front counter employees, as well as, the employees that are preparing take out orders. They are hurting your business. read more
