Still my go-to Chinese restaurant here in Williamsburg. Had their new lunch special where you choose soup or salad, appetizer, rice or noodles, and 3 main entree choices. I chose the following and all were delicious: Egg Drop Soup Pork Dumplings Lo mein Kung po chicken Moo goo gai pan chicken Sesame chicken Plenty of food for the price and I took home a good amount of leftovers. Husband enjoyed the two roll lunch combo. Service is friendly and food took average time to arrive. The decor inside is very nice and I enjoy the very padded chairs. Also took home a moo-shu chicken for another meal. Wish for the price they included a bigger plum sauce and 6 pancakes instead of 4. It's still very good!

Best Chinese food that we have had in a long time! We had lunch and enjoyed everything we had. Build your own lunch includes soup, appetizer, rice or noodles and three dishes. Service was great and the place is nicely decorated as you would expect in an upscale Chinese restaurant.

This is a great spot to go to for lunch. There isn't much of a wait and the restaurant is pretty quiet. The Hawaiian poke bowl is good, but the create your own lunch is even better. You get a little salad or soup, then choose an appetizer, type of rice and three main items. I think the different kinds of shrimp and the green beans have a balance of spicy and sweet.

Located in a busy shopping village in Williamsburg, VA next to the movie theater (that has plenty of parking) decided to have dinner here during a visit to Williamsburg. This is a multi Asian concept Chinese and Japanese so it has a variety of items from both cuisines. My friend had been here before and said it's one of the better options for Asian food in the area. It was just ok. The decor is cute and from the people coming in they do a solid takeout business. Our server was very nice, but service was slow. Sushi was ok. I ordered the maki special and selected the spicy tuna, shrimp tempura roll and California rolls. We also ordered a wonton soup and pork shrimp dumplings. Verdict - when I go again? If I was in the area or had a craving for Asian food it's an ok place.

We hadn't been here in a long while, but were in the neighborhood and thought we'd pop in. I'm so glad we did! After a couple of minutes' wait (like 3, maybe) we were seated. Our waiter brought water, and by the time he got back with our tea, our choices had leapt out of the menu and shouted "OOH! OOH! PICK MEEEE!!" My Bride got the Pineapple Fried Rice. It's literally a pineapple stuffed with shrimp fried rice. Delicious! I got the Walnut Shrimp, an excellent choice of if I do say so myself. Battered and fried shrimp and candied walnuts in a sweet creamy sauce- I had to restrain myself from licking the plate! Two entrées and two cups of green tea (with a refill) came to $43.07 including the tax. Certainly worth every penny! We won't wait so long to come back next time!

Ichiban is located in swanky New Town Center. As locals it's our go to, never fail sushi place. The service is always very good. The small touches make the restaurant very enjoyable. When you sit down the server brings you warm towels to wipe your hands. Even in summer this is extremely refreshing and in colder months it's a great way to start the meal. Tonight we had assorted rolls of tuna, salmon, honey, and Godzilla. Each roll has its own flavor and the fish is extremely fresh. The wine selection is really good. You can get a decent bottle of wine or reasonably priced glass to enjoy w the meal. On previous visits I've had their house margarita, and it was very good. The gyoza is also very good and go to favorite. You can enjoy a meal alone or with company and never feel rushed to leave, even if it's a busier time. Cheers!

I ordered the Gyoza, Roast Pork fried rice and Combo Fried rice and an extra side of white rice. Everything was great, maybe a tad too salty for me, but I still ate 4 big spoonfuls of each just to test it. The Gyoza were great and had a dipping liquid with them. I ate 3 immediately. Portion size was amazing. I got maybe twice more than I expected. The downside was that with all this tasty, hot food, they didn't send any utensils. I asked for utensils and napkins on the order. That was disappointing. However, they sent lovely packets of condiments and a fortune cookie in a very meticulously folded package. I will order from them again, just maybe not as much food :-)

Over the last two years, Ichibon has been our go to sushi restaurant in Williamsburg because of the amazing value of an all you can eat lunch special. And the sushi was always fresh. Our recent revisit we found that the menu was totally reformatted, and the all you can eat special was gone. Again, we found all of the sushi we ordered to be absolutely fresh and delicious - maybe better than before. I tried the Chicken Penang Curry and the sauce was absolutely perfect. But here's the rub: one would need a microscope to find the pieces of chicken. For another example, the vegetable tempura was delicious but again, a very small portion. On the whole, as I said, food was delicious, but the portions were very small and the prices have gone up. I recommend Ichiban but prepared to spend more than you thought for a simple lunch.

Fantastic service great atmosphere and even better food. This is a restaurant you will going and they will treat you like family. It's the type of place you only need one drink with because they're that fast with their service. I had the house special duck and my girlfriend had the kung poa chicken . They were both delicious the duck was so tender I could cut it with my fork. The plum wine I got paired well with the duck as it was sweet and broke up the salty savory flavor of the duck and its sauce. Overall 5/5 would come here again and definitely recommend you do!

We arrived at Ichiban at the last day of our Williamsburg trip. I was expecting a stripmall buffet type of experience but we happened upon the most walkable part of Williamsburg by this restaurant. There was a movie theater, a bunch of nice restaurants, and even an axe throwing venue. Ichiban wasn't serving their sushi buffet. Apparently that is only for weekday lunch. Instead it was ala carte dining at a pretty nice environment. We opted for the: spicy beef tendon pot - excellent taste and cool sorta unique presentation gal bi - good but not as great as its made at good Korean restaurants (or my house marinated courtesy of my wife and grilled by me). Not a bad price though. Thai drunken noodles with shrimp - we asked for extra spicy but it wasn't really spicy. It was a little bit saturated in sweet sauce (Americanized). Also the noodles weren't the wide rice noodles we were expecting. They were the pad thai type of noodles. A little disappointing but not bad. House special duck - battered and deep fried but totally delicious. Good portion size. Volcano roll - pretty good special sushi roll with fresh tasting fish and tightly made. The sake we had was amazing too. Fuji apple flavored Hana sake. I think $17 and my wife and I both had enough delicious drink to have. I'll definitely pick up a bottle next time I'm at Total Wine. The service was slow. Our waitress was running around all night. Food took a while to be served after ordering... maybe 40 minutes. Other than that it was a very good meal!

I just had the worst Chinese food in my experience at this place. While I didn't expect it to be like dinners I have enjoyed in San Francisco or Los Angeles Chinatowns, I expected it to at least be on a par with the average modest Chinese restaurant one finds in strip malls. No dice. Their formula seems to be to give a customer a whopping plate of too much really not good food. For example, the sweet and sour chicken consisted of tasteless tough pieces of chicken buried in a half-inch of fried batter. Awful. Perhaps people who have never experienced good Chinese food might be mollified by a large plate full of lots of bad stuff, and think this place is good. Who could give it five stars? Not even any fortune cookies! read more

I went for lunch at 2 pm. Waited at the server stand until 2:25, was seated and did not see a waitress until 2:35. Asked for the lunch special and was told it ended at 2:30. Waitress said she asked the manager and was told she could not give us the lunch special. I think you have me confused with someone else. As I know my arrival time was at 2, and never said anything as leaving. If you would like to show me the security tape/ footage I would be more than happy to watch them with you. I will say I know you have good food, but service is always slow. Thank you and remember I only want to improve your service. read more

Very dishonest service and business. We have 6 people dine in. Yeah we know we need to pay 18% tip for the server since we have 6 ppl. However, they included the tip in the bill and asked for tips again. So we paid $23.4 which is secretly included in the bill and paid extra $30 due to the sneaky bill and dishonest server. I don't even know why they playing the game with us. There is no reason for us to pay a $50 tips for a $130 bill. As I said before, Very dishonest service and business. read more

I'm half Chinese. The other half is Black. I typically support Asian businesses. But this one is racist. I overheard the waitress or Owner saying if customers complain about the food being too cold, they give it to the Black customers. I'm half Chinese. I speak Chinese even tho I look Black. Great food in Williamsburg. Take out was easy and each dish had good portion sizes for the price. When picking up, it was extremely busy so I would guess it's a popular spot locally, which makes sense. We got a mix of American style Chinese food as well as more authentic foods and they all tasted great! Would definitely come back. Short of 5 stars since it was Just a little pricey and they wait was longer than estimated when ordering. read more

Came here with a big group for their all you can eat lunch special. They were very accommodating for our group and placed us in our own room/dining area. It was nice and private for our group to enjoy. The all you can eat special is a great deal so long as you don't have extra food left over for which you will get charged. I think this is a great rule to have in place considering how much food goes to waste at buffet restaurants, it allows for customers to enjoy the all you can eat experience but also practices accountability for not wasting food. I had more than enough food and tried several delicious items from the appetizers, rolls and kitchen entrees. You can also share with others so you can try other things or if you just want to share plates. I had edamame, and the wonton soup which was great and the perfect amount. For rolls I ordered the Avocado roll which was just ok, not the most inventive roll but decent. But my all time favorite pick of the meal was the Sweet Potato roll. It had a nice texture with the fried sweet potato in the middle and a nice sauce on top. It was sweet and savory and so good. I also had the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Lo Mein which were both great. I tried a piece of the peanut and avocado roll which was pretty good as well; if you're a fan of peanut sauce flavor, it also had a bit of a kick. Over all a great dining experience. read more

I visited Ichiban with a friend soon after they first opened and was unimpressed. The atmosphere was nice, food was so-so, and our server was just plain weird. Recently, however, a coworker encouraged me to go back and try the recently introduced one-price, all you can eat sushi lunch. The lunch includes all the maki you care to order from a list that is only slightly abbreviated from the regular menu, plus up to 5 "bonus" pieces of nigiri. On this visit, I ordered three rolls, the salmon, tuna, and the aptly-named for size Godzilla roll which features cooked salmon and is coated with a light and crisp tempura crust. The quality and presentation were exceptional. The raw fish was very fresh, plump, and colorful. The maki were perfectly and quickly prepared. The Godzilla maki was a flavor explosion and has become a favorite of mine, and more recently my two sons who are themselves sushi fanatics. I have been back several times for the sushi lunch special, a bargain at only $11.99 and is an easy recommendation. I have not ordered off the menu recently, so I can't make any informed recommendation there - maybe soon, though! **UPDATE** Although the price has gone up (I believe it is now $12.99) this is still a bargain for sushi lovers. AND the meal now includes great appetizers like spring rolls, and fried calamari!! What a deal! read more

Ordered carry out from Ichi Bon. The wife ordered general tso w/white meat chicken and added broccoli and she really enjoyed it. I had the Kung Pao chicken( I wanted chicken and shrimp) but they could not do the combo) my dish was real good, could have been a little spicier. I also had a spring roll, unfortunately you don't order spring rolls on carry out. They get mushy. My child had the fried rice with shrimp and she loved it as well. I have to say, I can't wait to go back to Ichiban and dine in. They have a lil sushi bar, stocked bar incl. Sake and the atmosphere was really cool. read more

Seriously? Door dash on two sushi rolls $40. Both rolls were so fishy smelling indicating non fresh fish. Come on. Moved here from California so I get it but I have eaten here before and never so bad. This restaurant needs to check themselves and their quality of raw fish going out the door. read more

How quickly one can turn. I used to give you all 5 stars! I'll write a brief summary: 58 minute wait (I looked at the time stamp of the phone call when I placed the order) to get: 2 soups (as pissed off as I am, their Hot and Sour Soup is THE BEST) and the 2nd WORST General Tso's Chicken I've ever had. So bad I can hear my cohort vomiting in the next room. So bad was the service, and all I got was a lousy "sorry about the wait". I should blame myself though, I should have walked out of the restaurant sooner... Shame on you Ichiban. read more

Terrible terrible service. Food is relatively mediocre but the service is absolutely terrible. I ordered fried calamari and they have no warnings that there are pine nuts in the sauce. No allergen warning at all. When I asked to speak to the manager about this the manager came at me very aggressively and was very rude and unapologetic. I wanted to have a nice and calm talk and spoke very calmly and yet the manager decided to still yell and come at me. The manager blamed the entire incident on me and told me all I could do was go to a hospital and they'll reimburse me for it. I usually refrain from writing reviews but this experience was so terrible for me that I had no choice to. If you value good service I would refrain from coming to this establishment. read more

How have I not discovered Ichiban before now? I grew up in England eating Chinese food, and Peking Duck was always my favourite dish. I've been yearning for it years and here it is. A whole Peking Duck, just as I remember! With spring onions and hoisin sauce. Absolutely delicious! We also ordered a combination fried rice, and my son ordered Teriyaki beef. Both were equally delicious. Ichiban will be a regular haunt for our family from now on. read more

I have been going here for years and have not been disappointed. Whether you're getting take out or eating in the food is great. The sushi I would have to say is some of the best in Williamsburg and on weekdays during lunch they have an all you can eat sushi lunch. Just be warned if you do not finish all the sushi you order, you are expected to pay for it. The atmosphere is really nice and can be used as a place for special dinners and events. read more

In many ways, the customer experience was simple. We take minimal risk, yet hold a position of influence over those who share their expertise and themselves with our judgment. We often find joy in negative criticism, which can be amusing to write and read. However, the truth we all face is that, in the bigger picture, the average piece of food may be more impactful than our opinions about it. But there are moments when a customer truly takes a chance, especially in discovering and standing up for the new. The world can sometimes be unkind to new talent and innovative creations. Today, I had the pleasure of experiencing something truly special -- a remarkable meal crafted by renowned chefs and the manager, who is the younger brother of the manager I work with. To say that both the dish and its creators have challenged and reshaped my views on fine cuisine is an understatement. They have truly moved me to the core. In the past, I've been open about my criticisms of the environment and culture of Ichiban's Asian-inspired surroundings. But now I realize I understand better the intention behind their interior design. Recognizing Asian-inspired settings isn't always easy, but a genuinely great Asian atmosphere can be created anywhere. It's hard to think of a humbler beginning than the talented chefs at Ichiban, which I honestly believe is the best Asian restaurant in Williamsburg. I hope to return to Ichiban again soon and enjoy more delicious experiences. read more

Had a reservation at 8 pm on a Sunday (Super Bowl Sunday). Resturant closed at 10 supposedly. Arrived and was told "you can order takeout" as the employees decided to close 2 hours early because they weren't busy. When informed of the reservation, the hostess flipped through the book, signed, and said oh. We were seated but felt very pressured to leave. After not eating all day, because we were going to ball out on sushi, we ended up eating a lot less (and spending a lot less), not even ordering coffee. In fact, went to the nearby Starbucks for coffee. Bottom line: Your waitress could have made a lot more money (we ordered about 1/3 of what we would have ordered), your Resturant could have made a lot more money, we won't be back, and we WON'T recommend it ( one of our party works at a Marriott in town and often recommends places to eat). The food was good, but the service was awful. If you want great sushi and awesome service in the area, go to Saisaki in Newport News (a 20 minute drive, but well worth it). read more

This place was fantastic! The food was delicious, and I especially appreciated the setup and seating options for large groups. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food came out quickly. The only challenge is the parking, as finding street parking can be tricky. I loved the variety of Asian cuisines they offered. I would give them zero stars if I could. They are very racist here. The owner does NOT like black people and it is very obvious when trying to dine at this location. The owner and her daughter are very rude and likes to refer to black people as POC's. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. The food isn't worth the racism. read more
