Hana Sushi was alright overall. The sashimi was decent, but a bit inconsistent--the white tuna was very thin on one piece and much thicker on another. Service was fast and friendly, which made the experience smooth. I did takeout, so I couldn't really judge the ambiance. Nothing stood out too much, but it wasn't a bad experience either. I'd give it another shot and see how it is next time. read more

10 out of 10 always for the food. The sushi is definitely top-tier and you can taste that it is fresh. The service tends to not be great, because they are shortstaffed. So definitely expect to wait on a refill on your drink. I will always go here because the food is excellent. read more

So conveniently located a mile from work..parking is easy peasy. The food selection is quite appealing, fresh sushi, bento boxes, hibachi off menu as well as hibachi that is prepared in front of you, for larger groups. I normally get the bento box, and it has a mix of great stuff. Today i got the hibachi chicken and it comes with a nice salad w/ginger dressing. My guest had the hibachi shrimp..looked lime alot of shrimp. Overall service was good and compliments to the Chef..the food was excellent. Thank You read more

I'm sure you've heart wonderful things about this place and, honestly that's exactly what you should be hearing. This place has so many memories for me and for good reason, this place makes you feel so at home and cozy but still gives you the feeling of fancy. The sushi options here are endless, and if you find yourself the great pleasure of experiencing the hibachi or the delicious savory miso soup you will walk out those doors feeling filled with fantastic food and full of contentment that you've chose this restaurant. The service was excellent and the waiter i had was very sweet. No wonder this restaurant has such a sweet place in so many locals hearts read more

Just had an awesome dinner with some great friends celebrating a birthday. With 10 people in our group, our chef Eugene not only prepared all the food perfectly, he also put on a great show and kept everyone entertained and the kids smiling. Servers were great and patient with our picky needs. read more

Best hibachi around! I have been eating here for so many years and every single time i love it the same! I highly reccomend the experience of them cooking the hibachi infront you! awesome service very sweet staff! read more

Good food reasonable prices great place for friends and families to get together. We have always had a great cook and a lot of leftovers to take home read more

I always order to go as I do not enjoy the shared eating experience. I always order the steak and scallop or the shrimp and scallop hibachi for my husband and I. The inside of the restaurant is small and I can imagine some truth to reviews below. If the restaurant was extremely full, I can imagine mistakes being made. Nevertheless, no matter how cosmopolitan the area, I have never found another hibachi equivalent in price, quality and quantity. The service is consistent. I spent $50 per meal for the same options at a higher end hibachi in VA Beach that couldn't compare. I went to Teppan Edo at Disney and was not as impressed with my $150 meal there. I've been to others, but I've enjoyed Hana Sushi's hibachi the most. read more

This place is amazing! We all sat facing the grill and watched Eugene entertain us with his captivating skills, tossing knives and spatulas, chopping, cooking, adding all kinds of flavorings. What a great menu to choose from! Soup, salad, and main meals, I took enough home for a couple more meals. Well decorated, and a fish tank for the kids. All of the staff were very attentive to us. Will definitely go back. read more

Went out to celebrate a friends new job. I recently moved to the area so I am learning about the area constantly. First off incredible service/waiting, our waitress was phenomenal. Im so sorry I forgot the name of her (yes I am terrible with names). Eugene was our chef, he not only fantastically prepared our food, both keeping in mind our preferences but also cooked it to perfection. The sushi was absolutely amazing as well. I had leftovers to take into work with me. The ambiance was incredible. They had the super bowl on one big TV and another program on the sushi bar side of things. Wonderful appearance all around when you walk in. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area or new to the area. read more

Great service, busy but welcoming environment. We sat at the sushi bar, but everyone at the hibachi tables were having a great time! Excellent sushi rolls. read more

Horrible customer service from the cook. The cook was rude to our table and refused extra condiments... tell me you will charge me for extra but to flat out refuse is absolutely unacceptable. I don't know the man's name but if the owner would like to reach out to me I'll give him his description. read more

This was our first time back to Hana Sushi since COVID-19 regulations were lifted for restaurants. It was much slower than their usual dinner time hour(I've been going here for years and it is always busy around 5-7pm)! We noticed a lot of people were ordering takeout and there was one other family there in the sushi section. The service was exceptional and our dinners were delicious! The miso soup is always the perfect temperature and the salad is consistently fresh and tasty. We were a little disappointed that they didn't include the two small shrimp with our meals. They have ALWAYS thrown two shrimp on the side with any hibachi dinner(even if you get a dinner that includes shrimp). It's not a huge deal, but everyone looks forward to the little bonus bite with their meal because they're so good and it adds a little variety without having to pay more for one of the combination hibachi dinners. This is a quality meal for a good price and always friendly service! read more

This review is on behalf of my husband. He loves this place! Even though my husband is easy to please when it comes to food, he does really enjoy ordering take out from this location. Food is fresh, pick up is quick and staff is friendly. Husband is a repeat customer! read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside or upon entrance but the food is delicious. I order the Sukiyaki Steak lunch special with Miso Soup. It came out to $12.08 and was ready in less than 10 minutes. I ordered to-go, and was pleasantly surprised to open my meal and see not only a hearty portion but perfectly glazed strips of steak. The soup was also full of flavor. Definitely worth it for a quick lunch. I only wish I took a picture! read more

Yikes. Do not go here. Travel to Yorktown for hibachi. I ordered steak hibachi and the guy doing the hibachi realized there wasn't enough steak so he himself left the hibachi table to go get more to cook. Turns out it was bad. I spit it out in my napkin and was sick all night. Thank goodness my kids ordered chicken and my husband ordered seafood. Beware. The ONLY reason they get two stars is because the service was good and my kids were not poisoned. read more

Food was awful, spent $120 on valentines for takeout and food was cold and 1 meal was completely wrong. I will never go back.

The sushi was overly warm and the server was terrible. I had ordered Miso soup which never came and neither did my husbands soup and salad. Which was part of his entree. My sushi roll seemed as if it were prepared earlier and not fresh in the slightest. I ordered a beer which came about 1/2 way through my meal....terrible..save your money!! read more

Hana always provides great service and great food. The sushi is good at a responsible price. It is a go to for our family.

The food is the best hibachi food ever. The staff there are super friendly and talk to you. They play games with you and make sure your comfortable. The place itself is great, they even have a fish tank inside. They also have a lot to look at inside of the place. read more

Decent sushi and a good selection for people who don't eat raw fish. The menu is on a piece of paper where you mark your selection. The menu has many items and there is a description for each, which was very helpful. If you like deep fried rolls, you have plenty to choose from! My two rolls were tasty and well portioned, especially liked the eel and spicy mayo. Prices were fair for a sushi place. My hot green tea was refreshing and they also have a large drink menu. Most of the restaurant was dedicated to hibachi tables, with a small area of booths as well as the bar seating in front of the sushi chefs. Service was excellent for my group of four on a Thursday evening. read more

Tried Hana for the first time this past Sunday. We went right around peak Dinner time but thankfully there was no wait. We opted for a regular table and not an Habatchi table. Our wait staff was attentive. The floor however was a bit dirty and stained in certain areas. The food came out really quick. I ordered a Virginia roll and the Habatchi meal for 2. The soup that comes out before the meal was not very hot and sadly they gave us regular spoons to eat it. Anybody that has ate the soup you get at an Habatchi place is almost impossible to eat with a regular spoon lol. Overall the food was good especially for the area. I will more than likely return read more

Hana Sushi - Virginia Roll - Sushi Bars Near Me - Hayes, Virginia

New area to us so we are trying all the local favorites. Let me first say our visit was at 5:45 on a Sunday. So they were getting busy. However we were disappointed with the service. Since we have never been here before we walked in and stood at the hostess stand. No sign that says please wait or seat self. So we wait, and wait longer. Finally someone came over and asked us and since we did not want hibachi and all 6 regular tables were full we sat at sushi bar. Never having done this before, again we wait and wait. Finally hostess tells us what to do to order sushi. They finally took our drink order and we asked for menu to see the other menu items. Ordered shrimp dumplings(appetizer) which didn't arrive until we had our sushi. Sushi was in making, no dumplings yet they hand me my order but tell my husband they can't make his roll as they have run out of cream cheese. Really, you serve sushi AND you are in a strip mall right beside Food Lion??? The sushi was prepared well and was very tasty. We decided we didn't care for the dumplings, not because there was anything wrong with them, just personal taste. Overall nothing special. Will more then likely come back at some point but will not be our first choice for asian food in the area . read more

Hana Sushi - Checking in review to follow - Sushi Bars Near Me - Hayes, Virginia

We have eaten here frequently since it opened (actually ate there for their grand opening). But, we only go for the sushi, not the "Hana" show. So, I'm always disappointed when I can't get a seat at the sushi bar, which only has about 8 seats (it only had 4 when it first opened). I have to say the sushi is generally very good. Not the same as San Fran or L.A., but of pretty high quality. One of my favorites is Uni and, believe me, you can tell when it has been around a little too long. They also do a lot of nice rolls, like the spicy tuna roll and the Dragon roll (cooked eel)--very tasty. They also will happily make you chef specials that they think you will like. The wait staff is usually very friendly and attentive. But sometimes they get very busy on weekends and service can lag a little. On weekends, there are always large groups at the 4 Hana tables where the chefs put on a good show. Lots of birthday parties usually. Everyone seems to enjoy it and has a good time. From what I see, not much food left after folks leave. If you are looking for fresh sushi with nice staff and no pretensions, this is a good place to go. Hard to believe it is in Gloucester. read more

What a great place. Service excellent, sushi wonderful, price good. Have never sat at the group table, always the sushi bar, but the show and the food look wonderful. Great variety of sushi and fresh! read more

Wanting Sushi tonight I started to look around Yelp, and Hana's was without a review; so here it comes. Walking into the restaurant I was surprised no one had reviewed it yet. The restaurant was full, and there was only room at the sushi bar, which was fine for me. The majority of the restaurant in the novelty of cook at your table type restaurant, and I will not review that. I had sushi and nigri. The only reason for giving the restaurant three stars is the miso soup which I found mediocre. For the rest the two roles I had were good: The Hana's role was very different, good, but I am not sure if I would take it a second time. I try eel in every sushi place and this one was great. Their nigri had copious amounts of fresh fish which was wonderful. Again the sushi bar is worth 4 stars were in not for the miso soup. read more

For the price point, I have a hard time complaining. Only sushi restaurant in Gloucester pretty much so it gets pretty busy. This place could use a good deep cleaning for sure. The staff is a bit impersonal at times. For take out sushi, not a bad place over all. Lots of options on the menu. read more

Great service and quality of food. Not a fan of the sushi - freshness may be questionable. But the hibachi! Wonderful. Staff spunky and entertaining, wait staff on the ball, and food is worth a trip in or even take out. read more

Recently went to the restaurant and the place was not busy at all, we had a party of 7 but were waiting on 2 that were a few minutes away. The server was very rude and said that we would have to wait to be seated since every one was not there. I can see why they weren't busy if they were being rude to customers. Doesn't make any sense. I did speak to the manager about this so they would know why we were leaving. I read another review about the cleanliness and I have to agree that the place could use a good cleaning. We won't be going back. read more
