Kero Sushi is one place where Sophia and I have been to for many years. Over the last few years, we've eaten lunch after checking out movies. This visit last weekend was no exception and it's been a while since we've eaten here as a matter of fact. Let's see how it all turned out. We were promptly seated upon walking in. It was semi-packed but everyone seemed to be busy. The environment was very welcoming and calm. Always a great feeling from the staff every time we eat here. After a few minutes, we were ready to order. I selected one of their lunch dishes which we get in the afternoon. It was the shrimp tempura lunch box with french fries. It was good for the most part but lacked seasoning. Sophia said the same thing on her order which was the same but with fried rice. Nonetheless, I walked away full. Another nice visit here at one of our favorite spots in the Peninsula. You know we'll be back here again. read more

Update: This is our third time coming here. My partner absolutely loves the black Jack roll. I really wanted to try the uni but each times they have been out Black Jack roll: it was better last time and this time it felt a bit heavier and not as refreshing 7/10 Lobster roll: it came with two ends of a lobster tail which was fun to eat. This was my first time at Kero Sushi. Went for lunch and they have a decent lunch/bento box menu. I decided to get 3 rolls for $12.95: Shrimp Tempura, Sweet Potato, and Philly Roll. It also came with soup or salad. The flavor was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the Philly roll, but the other 2 were really good! 4 STARS! This place was packed!! And now I know why. I ordered to go and you can tell the food was fresh, made to order and packaged carefully. I got the volcano roll, shumai and shrimp/veggie tempura appetizer. Everything was so good! The wait for my order was longer than expected given how busy they were, but the food was worth it. We ordered a sushi boat to try different types. The sushi was okay, but I have had better sushi in the area for a lower price. The appetizer, tempura shrimp, was decent. The ambience is good, and we were seated tucked away in the back. The service is like any other establishment, but not great. First time here and it was very yummy! Service was nice and polite as well as prompt! For food we had the following and all was very good: Volcano roll, soup, salad, vegetable tempura and fried rice. The only thing I would not get again was the steak and shrimp hibachi. The steak and shrimp were a little tasteless and overcooked. Also the yum yum sauce was not that great. I love it! I've been to many sushi bars but this one is so cute and cozy. As you walk in they are greeting you and attending to you with a big smile on their faces. They are so sweet. I could almost kick off my shoes in here from how comfortable I was. The lighting was perfectly dim and the sushi was amazing. Definitely my new spot. read more

Came in for dinner on a Thursday evening. Seated after a few minutes and we took a while looking over the menu, there was a lot to look at. We finally decided on the fried pork dumplings, a volcano roll, and a dancing tuna roll. The dinner came with a salad or soup and I had the salad and was totally unimpressed. Iceberg lettuce with ginger sauce. Anyway, the pork dumplings were very good and the sauce they were served with was delicious. The volcano roll was crunchy and very tasty. The dancing tuna roll was good except for the tuna. It was very mushy and had the consistency of mush. The rest of the roll was great though. Our waitress was nice and very quick to take our order and let us look at the menu. We will try it again. read more

Don't get me wrong, I know that quality food takes time to make. But it doesn't take an hour an a half. At a sushi restaurant. Kero Sushi has good quality sushi- I wouldn't say amazing- but solid. The service is absolutely horrible though. The restaurant prioritizes delivery orders over it's actual dine-in customers. This has made it impossible for there to be enough staff to serve those who choose to dine in, causing less people to be seated since no one who is currently seated is being helped. When we finally did get our food, my mom got the wrong order. They realized their mistake and switched our orders back, so I'll give them two stars as opposed to one for that. read more

This is my favorite spot for sushi as of now. The fish is always fresh and they really take care in the way they present it. The sushi boat for two or three is worth it at $49.95 because you're getting a ton of sushi- and it's fresh and good quality fish vs. some of the AYCE places where the quality suffers. The service here is always great, sometimes it can get extremely busy though. The restaurant is decorated nicely, it's been the same for years. If you want some quality fish try Kero! read more

Not terrible but definitely nothing to ride home about. We decided to try something new and stopped by this place. The restaurant is very quaint and comfy. We had high hopes for the food. I ordered a Philly roll and the chicken yakisoba, my partner ordered the chicken hibachi. The roll was good, my yakisoba was good after I doused it in some soy sauce. The hibachi on the other hand was awful. It was like nothing had been seasoned... the broccoli looked like it was basically raw, still cold and hard. We hate to complain but it was pretty inedible. we told the waitress about the hibachi and it sounded like they were giving her a hard time about it in the back. She was very sweet and kind to us, but unfortunately we won't be back. read more

My wife, friends, and I decided to meet up for sushi after a baby shower nearby in Yorktown. There were 7 people in our party and we were seated immediately on this Sunday afternoon. The staff quickly got our drinks and orders within the first 15 min. They were helpful with ordering and salad/soup came out soon after our order. I asked for the Spicy King Roll and Miso soup. Kero has been our favorite Japanese spot for quite some time -- but it's also been a busy five years since my last review. In that time, tons of new Japanese places have cropped up (literally right next door to Kero you've got a Yama and Sasaki -- not to mention the nearby Wonderful Restaurant and Sushi Yama) so we've been bouncing around trying them out. Last week we decided to revisit our favorite for a comparison. Based on the experience, Kero still is amazingly solid -- but I wouldn't say it's my favorite any more. We had decent service - ordering the gyoza, some edamame, tempura udon and three different rolls. Everything was alright, but nothing really jumped out and grabbed me. Particularly the udon -- I've found other spots that have better broth by far, so that was a bit of a disappointment. But the sushi is still very on point - fresh and tasty. My baby destroyed the gyoza and they were just the perfect steamed texture for little ones. Altogether, the price tag was well over $50 (another reason we don't get to visit often...), so again, that's influencing my rating. It's not to a point where it deserves a 3, but it's in solid 4 territory now. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday evening - maybe because it's a holiday weekend but it wasn't busy at all. The staff were very attentive and the chefs made the rolls in no time. We ordered an appetizer of the Pork Gyoza- 7 pieces for $4.99 which I think was a good deal. We had bowls of miso soup and it was delicious. My daughter had a Spicy California Roll, I had a Volcano Roll and a Dynamite Roll. Both were cooked options and very filling. I had to get my second roll to go as I was full before it came out about ten minutes after the rest of our rolls. They said they do not offer a military discount here - I always ask and I do believe this location used to offer it. I did notice on the blinds by the front windows of the restaurant that they were visibly very dirty. If we eat here again I will ask to sit in the back of the restaurant as it isn't very good to think what else is dirty. But the food is good so if overlook the window blinds. read more

Let me start of by saying that I am not a big sushi person, I do not love raw fish whatsoever. However, this place has quickly become the place we go to when my husband is craving sushi. He was craving sushi and our friend had told us about Kero Sushi. Since it's COVID-19, we ordered over the phone which was super easy and the food was ready in the estimated time given. While he was eating, my husband repeatedly said he enjoyed the sushi -- the fish to rice ratio was good and the sashimi tasted fresh. I usually get cooked rolls , my fav is the Chicago roll. It doesn't smell "fishy" and it tasted great. We are hoping to try the hibachi next. They are also very generous with the wasabi and ginger too for a to go order. My only complaint is that it is slightly on the more expensive side -- but quality is worth it! read more

This was a very disappointing dinner choice. This place is officially a hit or miss. I was surprised at the time it took to get my roll, after my entre and salad was already eaten. I waited patiently only to get one that had obviously been overcooked and since I had it before I had to ask them shouldn't it be a lot creamier? The first waitress acted as if she wasn't clear but thankfully the other waitress showed up to say yes it should. I'll keep looking for a great local Japanese restaurant. read more

My family has been going to Kero for over 15 years. Always a wonderful experience. Great ambiance for a date night, and the prices are not overwhelming. Food is AMAZING. Sushi is always fresh. The Love Boat always has the best options and is the perfect serving size for 2. Kani Salad is always delicious. Chicken or pork Katsu is so fresh and crispy, and the portion is enough for 2 days!
