Garbage. Used to be a favorite. Recently visited a little late maybe, 8:45 when they close at 10:00. And were greeted very rudely by what I am guessing was the manager, which not sure why. He said we should look at the food they had left because they were not cooking anything else? We agreed everything looked fine, looking and being are not the same! Everything was very cold and most was edible. When we complained it feel on deaf ears. Still charged full price even though we didn't eat a full plate. Very rude and disrespectful. Fresh fare in a clean well lit atmosphere. Try the sushi bar,or the hibachi grill as well a nice salad bar and a chilled shellfish bar. There are scores of "expected" and surprising Chinese/Japanese buffet offerings. This place has your basic bland Chinese buffet foods, but what makes this place stand out is the hibachi grill, and Sushi.

I just ate here with my family yesterday for dinner (Wednesday) and it was great! They have a nice selection of sushi, and also a made-to-order hibachi grill. They have a wide variety of dishes, including seafood. My favorite items were the string beans, shrimp, dumplings, and sushi. They have all the items you would find at a typical Asian buffet, but I think it's one of the nicer buffets that I have been to. At $9.99 a person for dinner on weekdays, you definitely get a great bang for you buck! I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! read more

Honey chicken was really good, wide variety of passable sushi. The biggest plus is the huge variety of food available. They have a hibachi grill that I didn't try but what my dinner partner got looked good. They would have gotten another star but the food (other than the honey chicken) that I tried was passable but nothing to write home about. Went for the buffet during lunch hours and it was only $7.50 per a person. They had so much sushi, I believe around 15 different kinds. They also had a large variety of seafood items and obviously Chinese dishes. The food was warm and delicious too! I would go back here again! read more

The food and the service had something in common; utter apathy. The food was dry, mostly room temperature and unimaginative. The steamed fish was dry, the pan had a yellowish patina from dried sauce. Even the sushi rice tasted as if someone had tried sushi once and wanted to replicate it; it was regular long grain rice without the rice vinegar and slight sweetness sushi rice has. The dim sum was dry. Looked like it might have been salvaged from the day before. The staff guided my wheelchair bound wife and I to a table and left without saying a word. On checking out I mentioned the general disatisfaction with the experiance and the gentleman, presumably the manager, looked up and said "yeah" and went back to whatever he was doing. I am in Saint Augustine with my wife and two young grandchildren. What I expected is not at all what I got. The food and service were great. Far more on the buffet than I expected. And then the bill came. All four of us for less than $50 in this area. Great food great prices. read more

High points first. Cheap. Affordable. Good food. Many varieties of shrimp,beef, and chicken. Food is fresh and tasty. Sushi bar that's very good. Low points. Loud.Noisy. Can get hot if it's crowded. Crowded,crowded,crowded.....Having said that, your drink will be refilled very quickly,the employees are so-so in the "nice" category. Getting your check and finding your "waitress" can be a monumental task,as they seem to pull a Houdini and vanish. Checking out can be a hassle if you're in a hurry. They have a crude little credit card machine,circa 1980,behind the counter and if there's a line you might be here a while. I'll give is a c+ overall. read more

Definitely one of the better buffets I've been to. Unfortunately we are just here on vacation or we'd eat here all the time. The coconut shrimp is awesome. All the food was so fresh you could see the steam coming off it. There was a decent amount of choices and everything I tried was really good. If you're looking for a nice sit down place to eat with the family, the Ichiban Buffet might be for you. They have an amazing variety of food and cheap, yet delicious crab legs ( all you can eat!). Unfortunately my server had an attitude and rarely visited my table to see if I needed a drink refill. On top of that, the entire place was extremely loud and I found it hard concentrate while talking with my dinner guests. Between the kids screaming and table next to us expressing their anger over an over charged bill, I became quickly irritated. It's entirely possible the staff were having a bad night. We came to celebrate my sons 14th birthday as we've been here twice before and it was his special request. We came for dinner and I noticed snow crab at an extra $9.99 per person, but I wanted crab, so I grabbed a few legs and went to sit down. As I was walking to my table where my family was waiting for me, A waitress by the name of Joann reminded me that it would be $9.99. I said yes! I noticed the big sign in front of the crab. That's fine! and I sat down to enjoy my meal. As I was eating, she sat a few tables away in front of me, watching me eat. I tried to ignore her watching me but i couldn't help but feel like somebody was watching me. I would look up and see her staring right at me. I continued to ignore and engage in conversation with my family. My birthday boy asked to try a crab leg to see if he wanted to get a plate of some, so I let him try one. As soon as she seen me hand over the crab leg and crab cracker, she ran to the front desk to make sure they charged both of us for the snow crab. After she left, I felt comfortable enough to eat my food in peace without having someone staring me down and continued to enjoy the rest of my meal with my family. When we were done, I asked my waiter for our ticket to pay and noticed Joann was waiting at the register. I look down at the tab and see that they charged me 2 $9.99 charges for the snow crab. At that point, I was irritated. I told her if she would've stayed and watched a lil longer she would've seen that he just ate one leg to try it out and see if he wanted more. She was totally rude and disrespectful. She treated me as if I was going to try to load up on her snow crab for free. I don't mind paying for the food or the nice waiter who served our drinks, But what I wasn't going to do was pay $10 for 1 small snow crab leg. I will not be returning here..as I have a big family of 7 and we do not like feeling out of place and being watched while we eat or looked at like we can't afford to eat snow crab legs or that I am trying to get over on them by feeding my family the crab without paying. It was rude and disrespectful and I wouldn' recommend this place to any of our family and friends. The reason why I gave them 2 stars and not 1 is because the food is actually good. Great food. The sushi was better than most Chinese buffets I've been to (although still not as good as non-buffet sushi).

To start off with this place is not good. The pizza is not well cooked and very gross and doughy. The cookies are really bad and flakey. The chicken is so dry,and raw and the jelly cubes taste like medicine. The rice is also not cooked and we found some of the powder in the rice. The cream puffs were also stale and so were the cookies. The sprite tastes like tap water with a little bit of fizz it is terrible.I personally don't recommend this restaurant. read more

Went there for a date night and the food was pretty good for a buffet, but towards 8 pm employees were on their phones and weren't paying attention to the customers. As we went to leave we wanted to bring home some sushi for lunch the next day, received the check and saw that charged a full adult price for ONE to go box. Who does that?? The food is REALLY GOOD.! We have tried many of the different choices, and their use of spices is just right- I must mention this- we absolutely LOVE the green beans!! They are cooked al dente, but thy are not too crunchy (my friend is picky about veggies cooked this way... but their green beans are the BEST & we have a pile of them every time we go... I never thought I would say this, but their beans are better than what Outback served (that is, until Outback took that AND the rack of lamb off their menu entirely! Other customers I have talked to agree that those removals were BIG mistakes!) Ichiban Cafe has a large selection of foods- soups, salads, main dishes & numerous sides (be sure to try the beans & the mushrooms!)... they even have steamed fish & baked salmon- during dinner they have crab legs (however, Im not sure if that is available every day), a Mongolian BBQ & an assortment of freshly prepared sushi. If you aren't too full, there is a good selection of desserts to choose from- I like the fact that the cream puffs, cakes & cookies are very light, so they aren't overwhelming. Once you are seated, the staff is quick to bring the drinks right away... the atmosphere is pleasant & not too noisy, even during busy times. I would NOT hesitate to recommend this place- We have definitely been back on a regular basis! At opening, I loved this buffet. It was clean, it had friendly waiters, and the food was very good. Until it started aging. Food was commonly cold, and the sushi had undercooked rice occasionally, which makes me want to puke. The bathrooms smell like dirty fish, along with the entrance. This buffet is not actually 'bad', but not actually good either...! The food is uniformly bland to nearly flavourless. Even the 'hot 'n sour soup' ( my first 'test dish' anywhere!) had little 'bite'. There is nothing here that really stands out as good...or a 'winnner' as in most oriental buffets. Some items can be 'rescued' with hot sauce & chili oil, etc. but should this be necessary? The price at $7.75 for lunch was too high for what was offered. As a friend once quiped..."I could have eaten more, but just didn't want to..."...! The 'dinner' items laid on at 3:30 didn't look much better....and were certainly NOT worth the too high dinner price...! So.... To reward the kids for getting GREAT grades and doing a fantastic job in school, we decided to take them to Ichiban Buffet (they've been pestering for sometime now) .. Their food is pretty good there, but I am beside myself with their service! We informed the waitress that our son doesn't eat food and that we brought him his own yogurt & drink before we entered... WELL... While we was eating my son asked if he could try some red jello. So my husband went up and got him a few pieces of the jello and while he was eating it, the waitress came up to him (very aggressively might I add) & stood over him and said "NO"!!! I told her about his eating disorder and that he just wanted to "try" a few bites of jello and that I will eat what he doesn't finish... She said "absolutely not" "he will have to purchase a plate"!!!! REALLY?!?!? I have NEVER seen someone get so upset over a few pieces of jello! My son kept asking why he couldn't eat the jello & what did he do wrong So I went up to a manager and explained everything, and she still wouldn't let him eat till a "different" manager approved it... So in the meantime, I lost my appetite, I was so ticked off I was shaking... I didn't want to make a scene... So we stayed and I paid for us all (I just tried to do something nice even tho we didn't have that much extra cash) It all revolves around the help that works there... Very unprofessional..
