The food delivered was horrible. Terrible smell to the fried rice. The general Taos chicken was not edible. It was a waste of my money. It was delivered by Uber eats. They make their dishes a tad bit different from your usally Chinese places so make sure when you get meals you ask what's in it . It's always great but if you got a picky eater I would make sure . China Cafe has a party platter that is just so practical for us! We love the beef and broccoli and the chicken and broccoli. I make steamed rice in the time it takes my hubby to go pick it up, then we have a comforting feast for days... can we talk about how delicious broccoli is prepared by these professionals? The best Chinese food in St.Augustine IMHO! China Cafe is a family owned/operated that uses fresh produce and natural ingredients to make DELICIOUS Asian fare. They offer both take out or in house dining, with very efficient service to boot! Seriously the best Chinese food I've had in St. Auggy, and definitely as good as eateries of Japantown in Frisco! In fact, it was as super tasty as the food I bought from Uwajimaya in Seattle! Prices range anywhere from $2.75 for a fried rice to $11.00 for the seafood entrees; they also offer a lunch special from 11am-3pm for $5.25 which is a choice from 32 entrees served with pork fried rice and a drink. A dinner special is also offered for $7.25 which is a choice from 32 entrees served with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I've only had the lunch special (as well as the take out food), but the lunch special was enough food for both lunch and dinner that day! I had Chicken Lo Mein and Broccoli Beef and it was very good ^^ The Lo Mein was soft and the veggies were crunchy The Broccoli was soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside, everything was warm and just what I wanted for lunch! The portions were much larger than I was expecting even at lunch time ordering a small meal. I will definitely return in the future! There are plenty of places to get Chinese takeout, but not very many around the small neighborhoods that surround the plaza it's situated in. Im honestly not sure why anyone would give this chinese restuarant a bad review. Its so hard to find a good chinese restuarant around here, and this place is such a gem. I always get the house fried rice, pork lo mein, fried dumplings, and egg rolls. All of it is so good. The wonton soup is great and the shrimp and broccoli and the beef and broccoli are my favorites as well. They're reasonably priced, and very friendly. Don't believe the hype from the other reviews I scanned the entire menu which is included in 4 pictures at the top of this page.... I had Fried Rice and Seafood Soup - separate items Lunch special $5.25 -- Dinner Special $7.25 Dinner Specialties $8.25 - $12.95 - 4 basic tables similar to McDonalds but less comfortable (no booths) --- everything is out in plain sight ---one additional table outside - much nicer than the ones inside -- You order at the front counter --- if you eat inside at one of the 4 tables the food is brought to your table -- you're given plastic utensils and Styrofoam plates and bowls -- Basically take out food..... This place is out in the boondocks with some new housing developments nearby but even with a GPS I couldn't find it the first time. It is right off of US 1. If you live out here this place is probably paradise with very few restaurants located in this area. The address is misleading. Their website http://chinacafefl.com/ DOES NOT WORK. I listed all of the additional items at the top such as YES outside seating, NO wifi, NO alcohol, NO delivery etc--they weren't listed before. I read the other "great" reviews of this place and they must have been written by people who live nearby who don't want to travel into town. While I live on the island (I have eaten real Chinese food in Frisco) I was excited to hear about how good the food was at this place (best in St. Auggy) and so I drove there. It is mostly a take out Chinese place. It is the only business in the small mall---completely vacated otherwise (except for the Walgreens in front of it). I ordered some seafood soup and shrimp fried rice and a diet drink. I was eating in. I was handed an empty Styrofoam plate and bowl with my drink and I sat down and waited for about 10 minutes until the lady brought my food. The soup was in a plastic container and the fried rice was in the usual white cardboard container with wire handles. The portions are reasonably large. Using the plastic spoon I scooped the soup into the Styrofoam bowl and the fried rice on the Styrofoam plate and ate with the plastic spoon and fork I had picked up at the front counter where I ordered. They have decent take out Chinese food but with the lack of ambiance and eating out of Styrofoam dishes and plastic utensils I wasn't pleased with the place. The food wasn't any better than Lucky Garden on the beach. Based on the reviews I was anticipating a nice Chinese restaurant with some ambiance and being able to eat off of regular plates and bowls with a glass of wine to boot. NO WINE OR BEER at this place. When I read "...definitely as good as eateries in...Frisco" or "...food I bought from '...Uwajimaya in Seattle!' I was impressed and was willing to go out of my way to try this place. Best Chinese I've had since I moved to Florida. Most places are the same when it comes to what type of chinese food they serve and what it tastes like. This place doesn't stand out above all as far as taste goes, but that doesn't mean it's not good. They are on US1 south tucked away in the forgotten shopping plaza that once housed the Food Lion. Now it looks like a storage place for extra cars at the dealerships... Back on point, The prices are good and the food is always ready when they say it will be. I love trying all kinds of food, and with the amount of dishes I have ordered from them, I have not been disappointed. My only issue is that the last couple times I ordered, the fried dumplings seems to be half the size. Seems like they are trying to cut back on costs. I understand this from a business standpoint, but am disappointed as the fried dumplings were my favorite thing to get. Now it's almost more breading than filling...
