I haven't been to this restaurant in 9 yrs because of distance. Today, I was in it's area of town, and chose to make an order, only to be let down harshly. My lunch guest made mention and was disgusted, that his chicken in his chicken & broccoli, seemed to look and feel spongy and slimy. It looked swollen. I was shocked when I opened my General Tao's chicken seemed old as if it were sitting around or recooked. My chicken fried rice had absolutely no chicken in it, none. And the egg rolls were extremely greasy and lacked taste. I liked the sauce on the ribs but they were either reheated or over cooked. It was weird that we both, were disappointed. How does an entire order come out horribly wrong? We did not eat it. The food, minus the first couple bites, was tossed in the trash. Who can afford to throw $45.72 in the garbage? Came in at 10, they close at 10:30 food was freshly made and tasted amazing. Service was great and I would recommend this place.

Good food, my dad stopped in to get a soup that he gets quite often. I asked for a small chow mein. The chow mein was good, a little greasy but other than that it tasted good. I was surprised yet happy for the zucchini it had and snow peas. Super good. Egg rolls were huge and very deep fried looking. Inside was clean and spacious if you are looking to dine in. It's really rare to find a shopping plaza anchored by a grocery story that doesn't have a Chinese restaurant. China Wok serves that function for Winn-Dixie on the north side of St. Augustine. I've lived and/or worked on this side of town for years, so I've ordered a lot of food from China Wok over that time. They have some seating for dining in, but the restaurant is a little small, a little warm inside, and occasionally loud (the kitchen is visible from the front counter), so I prefer to order take out. It's got the standard Chinese fast food menu that you'll find anywhere. You can order from the counter, or from your desk via their online menu, and there are delivery options. I rarely have to wait long for the order to be ready. On the whole, the food is decent and just fine when you're hungry, forgot your lunch, and don't have a lot of money or time. This isn't a refined dining experience, but what they _are_ that's important to me is that they're one of the few places for lunch in the area where I can get a quick paleo-style lunch. Hit up the items on the steamed menu. Only salt and pepper are added to the food. If that sounds a little plain or frightening, they include a container of their brown sauce, which is actually a great idea. The veggies stay crisp, I can get a taste of the sauce by dipping the food and getting just the amount I want, which limits the total calories of the meal. The brown sauce is tasty, and if you're trying to avoid the temptation (I can't say no if it's in front of me), they will exclude it if you ask. read more

The food was hot! The lobster still had shell on the meat, and it was molting since it had a second shell underneath. There were small pieces of shell throughout the meal. The regions were not cooked crispy. I don't think I will try this store again. read more

I am not a big big fan on Chinese, and I was a little worried on ordering Chinese delivery because I haven't had great Chinese food, but this place was not bad. Good food, good price for what you get. I liked the coupon for free egg roll of $20 or more. Not many offer that. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the delivery time. It was close to 20 minutes past the expected delivery time, which was an hour past the time I ordered and it was only 3 minutes away... other than that, good job read more

I ordered lunch from China Wok & was nervous as to whether it would be good or not. Some Chinese restaurants are terrible. This one is fantastic. My food was delivered very fast so it was still piping hot! Everything was exactly as I ordered it & tasted SO good. Their Lo Mein is delicious. At some places the pork fried rice seems like they just dumped it out of a box & microwaved it but not this place. The pork fried rice was probably the best I've ever had. Closest Chinese take out near me so this is my go to spot. Everytime I order it doesn't disappoint. It's not the best Chinese food around but c'mon you know what you're getting into when you order Chinese take out. Chicken wings and fried rice or general tso's is the way to go. read more

After ordering several times over the past two months I have found that, like anywhere, there is good and bad. So, I decided to try many things. I decided to go on this quest because my first experience was a decent-ish one... Not a great decision on my part. I feel like the more I ordered the more down hill everything became. Last night it took them about 1HR and 20MINS to deliver to my house. Less than 2 miles away. This was a first for China Wok. The food wasn't hot. The spare ribs in the Pupu Platter were so BAD it was unbelievable. The meat turned into a weird, clumpy, dry matter, fused to the bone. Crab Rangoon is horrible as usual, same crappy crab sticks, good chicken wings and great jumbo shrimp, egg rolls aren't bad. The Szechuan Chicken Dinner Combo. I asked for it Medium Spicy. It was so disgusting, I laughed after putting into my mouth. The sauce tasted like ketchup and bbq sauce. Hugely disappointing. ALSO: HAIR WARNING. Found Hair in TWO different orders. Well the China Wok is a nice little Chinese place with the counter in a couple of tables that mostly seems to be at to go shop. They're very nice happy to be there and have an extensive menu, it looks like most Chinese restaurants. I think the pictures of the plates that are up above on the wall must be a standard set sold to Chinese restaurants all over the world. It's almost like I've seen these pictures before and would like to know if that's really how yours looks when it comes out. But who cares the question is how did the food come out. After all that's what I came here for a nice little evening meal. I had potstickers and kung pao chicken. The potstickers were very nice and they had a really great ratio of filling to dumpling. The sauce was the usual and tasted fine and I did Wolf them down I must say. Kung pao chicken was quite the mix of ingredients which was very appealing visually and taste-wise. There was lots of crunch and lots of tenderness lots of chicken and just the right amount of peanuts. When I go back you bet. The sesame chicken is phenomenal here but everything else is hit and miss. The food certainly has a fishy taste to it. Especially the lo mein. I ordered it hoping it was a safe bet but I was surely wrong. Their son is very nice but the woman working at the counter is cold. Very disappointed. Most of the food was either flavorless or had a looming taste of seafood (which nothing in our order contained). Chicken was rubbery. Both the lo mein and french fries were soggy and cold. Also found a short dark hair in our food (my roommates and I are all light-haired women with longer hair). The food is pretty good.There are new owners that took over and the previous one moved to green cove springs where he opened a new Thai chinese place that's awesome. The new owners aren't as good as the old one as far as quality tasting food but they are still good. The cook is very nice and the woman is very nice . She always remembers my voice and gives me hot oil which i love.They do have some specials which aren't on the menu that are good, one being Jalepeno beef which is super spicy but delicous. They also carry steam brown rice which i love. The only thing I do not like about this place is that the younger kid with braces is not very nice at all and gives us an attitude when we go there. I am not sure why really, I think maybe something is wrong with him. I did ask him several times to deliver food and he told me there was no delivery only for my husband to pick up the food and find him delivering food lol we tip very well so not sure what his issue is. read more
