No sauce on my orange chicken, fried rice was flavorless, and overpriced for what you get.

We were in the area and early for an appointment so we stopped in here for a Diet Coke and snack…read more Very nice establishment. Music was perfect but soft enough to have a conversation. We ordered cucumber salad in spicy sauce and soup dumplings. We've never had either dish anywhere. Service was very friendly but we thought at first it was slow for what we ordered. The answer to that was, there was a party ahead of us that ordered quite a few dishes, but we were served before them, SO the answer became apparent that the kitchen was slammed and we were fine with that! The cucumber dish was fantastic! The soup dumplings looked and tasted fresh and delicious. The one downer was only one dumpling had soup, but we poured the spicy sauce on them and that was great. Looking forward to trying new dishes I've never had before.

We got two styles of dumplings: The chicken and cabbage, and the shrimp and chive flavors. We enjoyed the chicken and cabbage one the most. We also got one of our goto's: Turnip Cakes. These were also good, but very soft, almost fall apart. We also got some soup dumplings. I was wondering why they didn't give us any soup spoons, which is customary. Now, I may know why: There was no soup in them. They were soupless dumplings. I also ordered some spare ribs. I thought I ordered some blackbean sauce ones, but maybe I either mis-read the menu or they brought the wrong ones, because these were more like black pepper ribs. Regardless, they were decent, and tender. Even the connective tissue around the bones wasn't too tough. One dish I wouldn't get again was the Rice noodles with bbq pork. It was very bland. They don't have a large menu of non-dim-sum items. The service was decent, and the restaurant isn't very large.

Tried YH Dim Sum and it totally hit the spot!…read more Everything we ordered was on point the shrimp rice rolls, sesame chicken, and BBQ pork were all so good. Flavor, texture, portion... no notes. The lychee martinis were a highlight (especially since they were doing BOGO ), and the staff made the whole experience even better super fun and great energy. If you're craving dim sum and a good time, this place is definitely worth the stop.

I love visiting Saint Augustine so I was so excited when I found this dim sum restaurant!…read more Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I was dining by myself. I always order a lot of dishes because I like what I like and I also know I'll have leftovers. I sent back the pan fried taro pudding because it was so bland and it didn't have many of the main ingredients in it. If it were there, it was so skimpy I didn't find any. (The Chinese sausage and dried shrimp) The pain fries soy sauce noodles were overcooked. It's suppose to be pan fried and it was not. Also very skimpy on the black mushrooms. Not very flavorful. The Steamed shrimp dumplings were mediocre. The skin was gummy and fell apart. The shrimp filling wasn't too bad. The shrimp with rice pasta was probably the best dish there. But it was still lacking in flavor. The steamed ribs with black bean sauce was very bland. The ribs were tough and tasteless. The braised chicken feet were over cooked. The texture was horrible like eating mush. The flavors were also off. The egg tarts looked good but the flavors again were off. Borderline going bad. It had that slight aftertaste of sourness. The shell was also flavorless. The BBQ pork buns were also disappointing. The ratio of bread to filling was off. Very small amount. But I was a little happy this happened because the filling didn't taste good at all. The hot tea was also disappointing. I always order jasmine tea when having dim sum. They used a low quality tea bag instead of real loose jasmine tea leaves which also includes the flowers. No fragrance at all of Jasmine tea. Needless to say, I will not be going back on my next visit. It was very expensive for what they give you. Especially since the food was so bad. I gave it two stars because the service was very good and the view was decent. I am Chinese... born in Hong Kong. So I know what dim sum should taste like. I wish I had seen the review that had a photo of the salt and pepper shrimp before I went because I would not have gone. Their salt and pepper shrimp is not authentic and I would have not gone and saved myself $80 for my lunch.

Tucked away off Old St. Augustine Road in Mandarin, Lucky Cat Dim Sum serves some of the freshest dim sum in Jacksonville. Everything arrived steaming hot, a small detail that makes a big difference. Dim sum is meant to be eaten fresh from the basket, not after a leisurely stroll around the dining room. The classics were all excellent. The chicken shu mai were substantial, flavorful, and held together beautifully. The black pepper beef short ribs were fall-apart tender. The fried shrimp balls delivered the kind of crunch that announces itself before the flavor arrives. The barbecue pork bun was pillowy soft and packed with a sweet-savory filling that lingered long after the last bite. Dessert was equally successful. The mango mochi had the ideal chew and was loaded with chunks of ripe mango. The taro Lucky Cat bun, shaped like the restaurant's mascot, could have coasted on appearance alone. Instead, the filling was smooth, lightly sweet, and thoughtfully restrained. What separates Lucky Cat from every other dim sum restaurant in Jacksonville is its willingness to have fun. The menu is filled with East-meets-West creations that could easily become gimmicks in less capable hands. Everything Bagel Buns, Buffalo Chicken Buns, and other familiar flavors offer diners an approachable gateway into the world of dim sum. The standout was the Cheeseburger Shu Mai. It sounds like the sort of thing that should fail spectacularly. Instead, it works. Seasoned ground beef wrapped in a delicate shu mai wrapper and topped with melted cheese. The beef carried a bold Cajun kick, the cheese added richness, and somehow the whole thing remained balanced. It tasted far bigger than a single bite had any right to. I've eaten at every dim sum restaurant Jacksonville has to offer, and Lucky Cat stands at the top of the list. It delivers the classics with confidence while bringing enough creativity to keep even seasoned dim sum fans interested. The best dim sum in Jacksonville, and one of the most enjoyable meals you'll find anywhere in the city.

The servers are consistently friendly and welcoming, and while the atmosphere isn't fancy, that's part of the charm. Just great food, great service, and a place you'll find yourself craving again and again.

Jacksonville, and Orlando offer up some rich and diverse cuisine and that it's not uncommon for us to drive an hour to get good food. Living in Central Florida it is hard to get really good Dim Sum. But all that changed today when we visited the Dim Sum Express, located in Palm Coast. The place is a little hard to find, located in a beautiful strip mall behind the local Texas Roadhouse. Don't let the location of this place deceive you because this place is pure gold for those who love Dim Sum. The place is also very small, perhaps 4 or 5 tables, but you will be rewarded with some very fine food. We had heard of this place via the Internet, and, despite some glowing reviews, we were wary of them before we decided to check it out. And boy, were we pleasantly surprised. And what made Dim Sum Express exceed our expectations? The food, of course, both the freshness and taste of it. Many so-called Dim Sum places don't move the dumplings and meat enough to ensure freshness, with noticeable freezer and refrigeration taste, and the best ones make their items from scratch in house. Now I'm not sure what Dim Sum Express does, but the freshness and taste could not be denied here. We started out with the Cucumber Salad with Chili Oil. Talk about a palate awakening as the freshly cut sweetness of the cucumbers tasted delightful mixed with the spicy chili oil and fish sauce. Another winner was the Steamed Bok Choy severed with a sweet sauce that was very delicious. The Steamed Spare Ribs were also very tasty with the small pork riblets with black bean sauce were both fresh and savory. Now, the test of any Dim Sum place is always the dumplings and the Dim Sum Express served up some of the tastiest Classic Pork Shumai and Shrimp Shumai dumplings that we've ever had anywhere. These were the dishes that we had, and they also served other classic Chinese dishes, however, we were their for the Dim Sum and in Dim Sum Express we found a winner. Just how this place which has been open for the past six months and went under our radar is baffling. The whole meal, and it was very filling, came to $41 with tax, And I'm happy to report that we have finally found our place for Dim Sum in the Central Florida area.

I would come back for the experience but the quality of the food was mediocre. The best thing I ordered was the roast BBQ duck; not the juiciest but had good flavor. The turnip cake was mushy in the middle and hard/chewy on the edges; wouldn't recommend it. The beef rice noodle rolls had no flavor at all and it was ground beef for the filling instead of a compacted beef roll like a mini meatloaf that most dim sum places have. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The food comes out hot and fresh and while it is on the pricier side when it comes to dim sum, the servings are pretty big. Highlight for me was the crystal shrimp dumplings. They come stuffed full with these huge chunks of shrimp and the wrapper isn't too thick or chewy. The sticky rice was also pretty decent and had a good amount of meat inside. Usually the pan fried radish cake is one of my favorite dishes, so I am a little more picky when it comes to these. So I thought these were okay. They still hit the craving, but it was a little more dense than I was expecting. The server was also super friendly, making sure she got our order right despite a little bit of a language barrier.
