Ice Age did a good job with the installation of the system. While they did not properly patch anything after, and we had to pay someone to come in and fix their work, the system has worked well for 2 years. However, now two units are not functioning properly and they do not respond to messages to set up a service call. Concerned that they do not seem to stand by their work. So keep this in mind if you are looking to have a system installed! read more

We have just had 2 mini splits put into our 1 bedroom apt. We met with Victor and Johnathan to go over the installation and have them send an estimate. They promptly sent the estimate that evening! We set up our date a couple weeks later and they never changed or cancelled our appt (which I thought was amazing!) Johnathan arrive promptly at the time he said and the guys started the install. The 2 men who did the install were great! I think they actually work for Ice age and not contracted out. The 2 guys who did the repair did a very nice job and everything looks great. My only complaint would be the plumber who came to cap the gas, I feel as though there should be more communication with the client and vendors and more explanation on exactly what needs to happen. The plumber did not turn our gas back on so now we are having to spend additional money to have the gas put back on for our tenant. We called him, texted him and sent email to Ice Age and no help yet! Overall I would recommend ice age,but I would be hesitant to trust the contracted plumber they use. I have this plumbers info if anyone wants to reach out to me to check if it's the same company ice age is planning on using for your future job. Ice Age Mechanical just finished another installation for me. This time it was 3x 3 head units. It was part of the Con Ed rebate program for heat pumps. Ice Age filed the paperwork and I was approved almost immediately which reduced my cost my almost 40%. As mentioned previously, their work is impeccable. They did the job in the time they estimated. They had to work around tenants, so they needed to work smart and neatly and clean up each day. Their electrician, Carlos, routed the power with little disruption of another apartment both in time and how he ran the line. Victor does the finish work which was included in the price and I can't tell where the lines were run. I obtained three bids on this project. Ice Age was the only one that was all-inclusive so I did not need to find an electrician or someone to do the patching. I would (and did) use them again. read more

Installed wrong capacity units in two rooms, and it has been hell dealing with Victor, Ice Age, and Mitsubishi since. They dragged their feet and did minor fixes that never lasted instead of re-doing the job properly until the warranty ran out. Not trustworthy. Money down the drain. read more

Ice Age Mechanical did a great job installing a mini split AC in our 2 bedroom apartment. We worked with Alex Chica and decided the best places to install the 3 indoor air handlers and the 1 outdoor compressor unit. The whole team was very good at their work and did a great job. They were considerate of me an my wife working from home during the installation process. The installation team was great and installed the units with minimum damage to the ceiling and walls. The electrician did a good job running the wires to the units. There was in an issue with a unit not getting power and he came and resolved the issue quickly. And the person doing the painting and patching was excellent. You can't even tell where the holes in the ceiling and walls were. I highly recommend Ice Age Mechanical. read more

I personally believe that reviews should be either 1 or 5 stars (i.e. like or dislike). In the case of Ice Age, these guys managed to get a 1 star without even doing the work. If I was the owner, I'd be pretty upset :) My Mitsubishi units have a unique problem and are leaking inside the room during hot days only, so not something I can easily schedule 1+ week ahead. My request was for a very experienced technician to come out. I finally got a hold of Jessie, who is responsible for scheduling and promised a technician to come out when the units leak - makes sense, very logical. The fact that this was even offered to me was impressive. Can't recall if this was 2 or 3 weeks or more of back and forth and constant excuses that the technician can't come out and what not. Just tell me that you can't have the guy come out and no hard feelings. This is fundamental customer service. FYI, Ice Age was not the original installer. They might be better for regular service work. read more

I am completely satisfied with the job that Carlos and his team were able to do for my house. A new HVAC system was installed, old cast-iron radiators, a gas boiler and wall air conditioners were removed. It was a complex job that they made seem so simple and came every day by 8 AM, worked full days and were always super friendly. The workers went above and beyond on a daily basis. Ice Age Mechanical installed a split system in our 3 story house several years ago. We thought they did a decent job until we encountered 2 problems this summer. Victor and staff did not return our calls when we told them we had problems They pitched one drain pipe improperly so the pipe burst and did not drain. Victor ignored our calls for service so we had to hire a different company to replace and pitch the pipe properly. Also, one remote control was broken and was still under warranty. Victor kept telling us that he ordered us a new one.. Two months later, we hadn't heard from Ice Age and they began screening our calls again. I had to call Mitsubishi to tell them that my installer was not honoring my warranty. Mitsubishi got involved and still Victor wouldn't order a remote for us. Mitsubishi sent us a new remote because they couldn't believe Ice Age's non-compliance! If you hire Ice Age, be prepared to know that Victor will not stand by his contract and Mitsubishi warranty. His "niceness" stops the minute he cashes your check! read more

In the past I had some differences with Victor (Ice Age Mechanical). Everything has been resolved and we are on very good terms with each other. Recently, I had Ice Age service my system. They did a totally professional job at a reasonable price. They spent their time looking and cleaning each blower. They advised me that everything was in good working order. update. victor got in touch and profusely apologized, there is some inter office communication issues that they need to work on, but he had a crew here that week and fortunately the issue in our bedroom was an easy fix. We are sill waiting on a new grate for the baby room that should stop the leaking. but for now everything is good. Victor does stand by his work and he is honest that his company is always learning and improving. We hired Ice Age Mechanical 2 years ago to install our HVAC system at our townhouse in Bushwick. We met with 4 HVAC contractors and Victor was by far the friendliest, most communicative and knowledgable contractor that we met with. We hired them to install a mini ducted system over 2 floors, covering 1600 sq ft. From the 1st year we had some major problems with all the units upstairs. They would jsut not cool. on hot days the units would not go below 85 degrees. We lived with it as best as we could the 1st year. The second year it was unbearable. we were calling Ice age every other week. Many of the technicians they sent were not very knowledgable and we had to beg victor to send someone competent who could assertion what was happening. Victor eventually admitted that the units were not properly installed and that he fired the guy who installed out units because of his sloppy work. That summer they had to rip up all our ceilings and insulate the system, and for our daughters bedroom the problem was so bad that he had to install an entire new system out of pocket. our patience was being tested but we were grateful for his attention to the matter, the performance of the unit in our room was declining RAPIDLY! It only works on days when the temp is around 80. when it is hotter than 80 our unit does not cool We installed a new ceiling fan and bought dark window shades to help offset. This is only our second year with these systems and we are at a total loss. We called to have them service our units last week and the technician again was quite ineffective at explaining the problem. he said that our unit was set to 78 and said the he reprogrammed it, when we asked him how that happened and asked him to show us how to program it he was unable to. The unit in our daughters room smells like mold. He said that they will have to come back and clear the lines which they have yet to do. Our biggest shock to date came when they billed us $326 for the technician to come and tell us that our remote was not programmed correctly. our contract states a 12 year compressor and parts warranty and a 4 year labor warranty. The communication with Ice age has been challenging and arduous. We have lived with a mostly non functioning system in our bedroom for 2 years, we have had our life upended countless times as they have had to tear our our ceilings and fix the sloppy work that they have performed. read more

I hired ice age mechanical to install a Mitsubishi ductless unit in my 90 year old Brick house. It is a two day job and day one 3 very nice techs came and they worked in 95 degree weather without one complaint. They were so neat and polite and left the house perfect. They came Day 2 an hour earlier and got right to work. We couldn't be happier with the service we have received from them. Job is complete and everyone who did any work in our house were excellent. Called them for a mini split ac system earlier this year. They showed up as scheduled and provided a written estimate that was reasonable. Based on the estimate they provided, and reviews on various sites, I decided to go with them. The work was scheduled right before all the shut downs due to the caronavirus. They arrived as scheduled and all work was completed in one day. The work was neat and the area was cleaned. While it has not been warm enough to use the system yet, I have turned it on several times to make sure it is working and it seems to be functioning well. We have only praise for Carlos and his team at Ice Age. Their company deserves an A+ for both their excellent workmanship and service. In choosing Ice Age, we first brought in several other Mitsubishi Diamond Elite companies to conduct walk-throughs of our apartment and provide estimates. From Carlos's first visit to our home, we were impressed by his knowledge, attitude, demeanor, and professionalism. We also appreciated his willingness to think outside the box. For example, in our living room, we wanted to place the AC unit directly above the entrance door to our apartment. Several other companies told us this couldn't be done; Carlos said it could...and he was right. Carlos was also incredibly patient and responsive in answering our many evolving questions. As impressive were the Ice Age workers that physically uninstalled our old PTAC and split ductless units and installed our four new AC units and the condenser. The team consistently showed up on time, and their output was top notch. One of the best parts of Ice Age is that they are a soup-to-nuts contractor. In practical terms, this means that they will not uninstall old units and install new ones, but they also have electricians, plumbers, and other folks on hand to make sure that no further work is necessary once the job is done. (Other AC companies, for example, weren't willing or able to insulate or patch the holes in the wall caused by uninstalling the old units or running new wiring and piping through our ceilings and walls. Others still would patch the walls, but wouldn't paint them or replace the moldings affected by their work. Ice Age handled all of this, leaving no trace of the old units, and installing the new ones perfectly.) In short, we were highly impressed by the quality of their work, and thankful that they ended every day by cleaning our apartment, and leaving it in the condition they found it. (Because they did the installation during the pandemic, they also wore masks at all times, and shoe-coverings whenever they were inside our home, to avoid tracking dirt and germs.) On top of all of this, Ice Age's estimate came in below each of the other companies we were considering for this job. For all of these reasons, we cannot more highly recommend Ice Age Mechanical. read more

I contracted Ice Age to install a 3 head hyper heat Mitsubishi mini-split system. I selected Victor and his crew because he was the only contractor who suggested that I upgrade the electrical service and install wall thermostats. I actually verified with my electrician that the current service was inadequate. I also researched the system and discovered that variability in temperature existed when using the system for heating and installing the wall thermostat was the fix. Even with the extras, his price was comparable to others that I received. Regarding installation, his crew was great. Carlos set up the configuration for the crew. They were very considerate of the apartment, polite and neat. The configuration allowed them to just channel through one wall. They installed the system actually 1/2 day earlier than they initially proposed. I even received a significant credit for the electrical upgrade since the job was easier than in the contract. Finally the office staff was very helpful and always responsive. It is a pleasure when someone calls you within a few hours of your email with answers. I would highly recommend Ice Age Mechanical and would use them again. read more

A true class act. You don't need to bother calling anyone else, start with these guys and you will be happy you did. I went through two other companies claiming they were going to do the work, not showing up, not communicating whatsoever before I got to Ice Age. I'm a handy person and grew up fixing anything and everything in a workshop, and even with having a little background experience these guys impressed me. Their work was CLEAN, their demeanor friendly and easy going. A little late on starting work in the morning, but hey it's NYC - traffic and driving around here is a mess so it's understandable. Their prices are on-par with the industry, some may charge you a little less, but will probably do cheaper work also - there's no way in the world they will do work that you'll be proud of to show off to people like Ice Age does. My fiance laughs at me, but I really am proud of the work they did and recommend you get your work done with these guys, you'll be happy you did, and you'll avoid the months of headaches I had before I found Ice Age.
