BIG WARNING / TL;DR If Victor from 212 HVAC tells you your Daikin system is "obsolete" and must be completely replaced--or that he needs to bill extra hours just to ask Daikin for warranty parts--STOP and get a second opinion. He tried to upsell me from a simple warranty repair ($2.5 k labor) to a $21 k full-system replacement using inflated prices, scare tactics, and outright falsehoods. Read on for the details. I almost never write negative reviews, but this experience was so egregious I feel obligated to warn anyone who doesn't have the time or technical background to verify a contractor's claims. What happened Rushed, sloppy "diagnosis." Victor spent ~30 minutes on my six-year-old Daikin VRV-S system, left control wires dangling and panels unsecured, then charged me $190 for the visit. Hard sell for total replacement. He declared the outdoor unit "obsolete," insisted the indoor air handler was incompatible, and produced a $21 k quote to swap both units. Wildly inflated parts story. When I pointed out the 10-year Daikin parts warranty, Victor pivoted to a "repair" price of $8 k (labor + refrigerant) and claimed the warranted parts would otherwise cost $5 k--even though wholesale on those items is $2 k and Daikin supplies them free under warranty. Blatantly false warranty hoops. Victor emailed that "Daikin won't supply parts unless we create a case with the service department on-site; we'll need 1-2 hours at $260/hr before the claim is approved." I verified with Daikin myself: complete BS. One phone call with model/serial numbers generated a warranty authorization--no paid "troubleshooting call" required. Left equipment in hazardous condition. A second Daikin Comfort Pro found Victor had unplugged compressor leads, left service valves half-open, and failed to reassemble panels--conditions that could have caused further damage if I'd powered the system. Proof he was wrong. Using Daikin's warranty authorization and a reputable tech, I replaced the outdoor unit (fully compatible with my existing indoor unit) for $2.2 k total labor and refrigerant--less than 10 % of Victor's full-system quote and about one-quarter of his "discounted" repair figure. Why this matters Misleading pricing: Parts costs exaggerated; labor quoted at 3-4× industry norms. Pressure tactics: Pushed an unnecessary indoor-unit replacement and invented fake warranty "procedures" to pad the bill. Questionable workmanship: Left the system partially disassembled and potentially unsafe. Potential exploitation: An older or less tech-savvy homeowner could easily have been duped into spending tens of thousands of dollars. Bottom line 212 HVAC--through Victor--demonstrated either serious incompetence or a willingness to gouge unsuspecting customers. Always verify your Daikin warranty yourself, demand an itemized labor-only quote, and get at least one additional bid before allowing this company to touch your HVAC system. Fabulous service by an extremely competent technician. Our Rheem furnace was giving us lots of trouble, thanks to a sloppy installation. Incredible service! 212HVAC was easy to schedule and arrived at the start of the service window. Seth was absolutely amazing. I was burned by another service provider who basically told me the issue was that I had not cleaned the filters (which was not true) and quoted me an absurd amount of money to move the condenser to the backyard and running new lines for the broken unit. Seth was patient and listened to my concerns before getting started. It took Less than 2 hours and he repaired all three units (including the one I was told was completely broken). The lines were not connected properly to each HVAC unit which is why they were not working properly. ISSUE: I turned on my thermostat this past week just to check to see if my heater was working in preparation for the upcoming winter. Well, it turned on temporarily, then produced a fowl smell 2 minutes later, - then shut down. I then called Atlas Air Masters. SOLUTION: These guys came same day and quickly replaced the burned-out master controller board with a brand new unit. The were very friendly, courteous and professional ! - In addition they cleaned up oxidation build-up on the metal rod piece of the flame detection sensor at no extra charge. The technician explained that carbon buildup on this unit could cause bad or inefficient heater cycling. They also provided great advice for keeping my furnace clean by recommending me to replace the filter periodically. They were in and out in about 40 minutes. I've noticed that my heater now turns on very quietly and gives me heat when we need it. Great service and I highly recommend these guys! read more

I had 4 HVAC companies (all highly recommended by reviews on this site) check my malfunctioning CAC, each giving me a different story, suggesting more work and providing no help. These guys came (on time), were very friendly, clean and professional; explained everything, found what the problem was and fixed it (not enough refrigerant - does this require a genius to figure out?). They also ruled out some of the more expensive problems other companies "diagnosed" (no leakage, for example). My CAC has been working better than it has for years. After a quick Yelp search I narrowed down my options and made some calls for an HVAC issue. 1/2 of the numbers were disconnected, some just went to VM and seemed sketchy but 212 HVAC picked up. I had a professional discussion w them and they dispatched an engineer within 48 hours. I'm in CT and their engineer came to my house, did a fantastic job while reaching out with periodic questions/updated and then resolved the issues, took pictures and left. A technician from a different company had not only given us a quote of $20k to replace our whole heating and cooling system (which I felt was unreasonable), but wouldn't respond when I asked about just fixing our current system. After that I knew I needed a second opinion. When I emailed 212 I got a response right away and Seth, our new technician came out the next day. He immediately found that the problem was just the blower motor and only that part needed to be replaced. His honesty and professionalism saved us thousands of dollars. One mini-split was not working. Called 212HVAC on late Friday afternoon and got appt for Monday. The office and the technician both called on Monday to say he was running a little late (like 20 mins). Technician arrived and began work efficiently - checked all the mini splits in our loft, checked condensers on the roof -- finally resolved that the problem was a glitch maybe caused by a recent electrical problem -- and that the unit itself did not need fixing -- he had it up and running in no time. Called and set up an appointment to service my PTAC units and get a quote for new units and other options. They were nice enough on the phone. When the day of my appointment came a tech called to try and reschedule because it wasn't convenient for the,CTC come at the time they set up a week in advance. I said fine and as they said they would accommodate any other time for me. So then next day I call to confirm and the supervisor says "oh we don't service or sell PTAC units".... Obviously this annoyed me as they said they did when I originally called but I asked them to come anyway to see what other options I had. Well they never showed up. They called and said they would be late and I couldn't stick around to wait for them. So they tech said he would call the supervisor and I never heard back from them. UPDATE - A surpervisor did reach out to me today (next day) and offer to come out himself to check out my PTAC unit at no charge which was very nice of him. Don't need it at this point but it was a nice gesture. read more

Service Date: July/August 2019 Was glad to have called 212 HVAC! Our central air went out during a heatwave. They were able to come assess the issue within 24hrs and gave a detailed explanation of what needed to done. They keep me apprised of when needed part would arrive. They were able to have it up and running in a week due to needed part was for my older model unit and required more time to find and ship.
