Jon from Soho HVAC came highly recommended and he replaced 3 Ptac units in total. One of the units was not working properly and he tried to figure out the issue but it kept acting up. So he advocated for us with the supplier to swap the unit out for a replacement since there was something wrong with it. He took it upon himself to do the right thing and we really appreciate that a lot. Thank you, Jon. read more

After using two major HVAC repair/suppliers over a 7 year period which included many nonproductive service calls, a new Ptac unit, a new sleeve, a new coil, a new thermostat , new sensor and various other attempted interventions for a leak in the system, none of which ever resolved the actual problem. Finally, by chance I got hold of SohoHVAC and John spent time discussing the issue in detail with me before he came to diagnose in person and when he did come he fixed the issue in no time at all, as what he originally diagnosed was the problems so he came prepared. He is a straight shooter, extremely knowledgeable, and fairly priced. I am so happy to have this issue resolved after all this time and thousands of dollars later, it's truly amazing. I obviously highly recommend this company and will use them again. read more

Had a similar experience as others -- this company is completely unresponsive; asked for a quote, someone came by to scope, and then a month later I have no formal proposal. I've followed up about 5 times, and sometimes sohohvac would confuse my project with another one and sometimes they'd just say, in effect, "working on it." Eventually they just stopped responding. Don't think this company actually wants new business. read more

I reached out to SohoHVAC based on their five-star reviews. Within a few hours their owner John G was in touch with me over Yelp Messages. We had a fairly detailed back-and-forth and he diagnosed the problem with my large Friedrich Kuhl air-conditioner as being caused by a Freon leak. He offered to recharge the unit for about $400 but with a cautionary note that it might not fix it for long ("could be a week or a year"). And that I was better off replacing my unit. It is impressive that a business owner would take the time to understand your problem and then objectively suggest you not use their services. But John went the extra step and also advised me on cost-effective replacement options. As a small business owner, when you do the right thing for your prospects and customers, it always rewards you in the long run. I wish SohoHVAC and John great success. read more

Our Mitsubishi mini split ductless hadn't seen a serviceman since it's installation...14 years ago. The bedroom return was only throwing mildly cool air from the rear return (there are 2). It was pretty obvious we needed a Freon recharge. I reached out to SohoHVAC & John explained he was really busy but could schedule me late in the week. True to his word, despite his van breaking down, he sent his guys as agreed. They observed, cleaned & charged the unit in just a couple hours. We very much appreciated their service and would highly recommend SohoHVAC to anyone who needs reliable service. John says they primarily do installation, so those who need it...call John! read more

Our initial service appointment 2 years ago was fantastic- efficient, friendly communication and reasonably priced. I guess they've been very successful as the current service/maintenance fees are 100% higher and it's difficult to make an appointment. I've moved on to a different company. read more

When one of my apartment through wall a/c old units failed, I looked for a good company to repair or replace the broken unit. SoHo's reviews were excellent and the service was right on the mark. Spoke to Jon, the owner, who recommended a good replacement unit at a very fair price and in two days the new quiet and energy efficient unit was very professionally installed by two knowledgeable and experienced employees. Other companies wanted an "upfront" fee to check out my old unit but Jon was candid based on its age and manufacturer ( now out business) that it would be throwing good money after bad; especially since replacement parts would be extremely difficult to locate. Jon advised to call anytime for questions, etc on new unit and would quickly return if any adjustment, etc was needed. If another of my older units also passed on I would not hesitate to call Soho for replacement or service. My experience with previous companies is that they talk a good game but send inexperienced service people or ones that look at a broken unit and upsell you after wasted repair fails. Soho is the real deal for an excellent, honest, fair priced company. read more

Thanks to Yelp create the platform able for me to find SohoHVAC! Bring a business owner I can sense the caring and transparency from the first phone call with John. He came by in a 20 degree weather the same Day and got our retail store heater system working in less than 2 hours. I'll recommend anyone who needs the service and continue work with John on the maintenance of our system. read more

Jon and his team replaced our 20 year old PTAC unit recently and did a great job from start to finish. From identifying the replacement model that would fit the existing sleeve, to recommending the proper BTUs needed, to competitive pricing, Soho HVAC checked all the boxes. But the response time and the personal service was what really stood out. Jon responds quickly (and personally) to inquiries, he answers all the questions you have, he gets you scheduled promptly and sticks to the schedule, and at least in our case he handled the installation personally. For someone new to the city in general and PTAC units in particular, he and his company were a great comfort. read more

Jon was so communicative, transparent, efficient, honest and most importantly skilled and competent in installing and replacing PTACs in my condo and wiring up Nest thermostats to them. I got quotes from 10+ HVAC specialists to replace 10+ year old heat pump PTAC units. Jon responded much faster than every other supplier I called for a quote, including the bigger shops - and his rate was the most competitive as well. Jon wasn't at all pushy either, and his quote was honest and the final price - which from working with a handful of similar HVAC professionals in the past has not been the case. He was on time (a bit early!) for the estimate, easy to work with, ordered the units really quickly (within the week!) and set up an install. He was also much technical than other pro's I contacted (on yelp and thumbtack), understanding what the Nests work with, how to wire them up and how to make them work. The job did take a bit longer than expected and had a few hiccups along the way, but he and his partner made sure to be respectful of the space and most importantly make sure the install was completed to code and worked great. He even texted back and forth after the job to make sure everything was set up correctly and small things were ironed out. Most importantly - the units so far work great, the thermostats look great and sync with alexa to make a seamless smarthome experience and Jon got it all going smoothly. Would strongly recommend Jon and SohoHVAC as an honest, reasonably priced and professional service, and will (hopefully not for some time) definitely hit them up again for maintenance, repairs or new unit installations. read more

The owner mostly took a long time to respond, and never provided with a quote, while he kept insisting to proceed. I could not give him a couple of thousands dollars job without a single written quote. It's a pity! The whole thing took more than two months. it was a waste of my time. read more

Our central AC compressor outside unit wouldn't turn on and I reached out to many A/C contractors on Yelp. I received many eager early responses from highly rated contractors when I first reached out with my problem. And then things would fall apart with responses like 1. I can't/won't go to Manhattan 2. Our technicians are too busy to get to you because we are really busy 3. It's $350 for the contractor to walk into my house before any work is even done and on and on. Only Soho HVAC (Thank you John) was straight-forward and upfront with no surprises and while he was too busy to get to my job immediately, he followed up and within a week had the problem diagnosed and fixed for a fair price given the time spent and the labor involved. read more

John and his Team are top notch, including Aram, who is a master with all things AC. I can't say enough about this company, both in terms of responsiveness and quality of workmanship. I used a different company previously to service our units in Manhattan, and they did not assess and clean the coils properly as well as add the anti-bacteria tablets to the drain pan. I have now referred SohoHVAC to a number of apartments in my building and all are quite happy. 5 Stars. read more

Professional, knowledgeable, punctual, reasonable, and personable. Terrific service. Resolved my heating issue promptly and efficiently. Got a bit of an education as well. Very glad to have found them. Very highly recommended! read more

Great service, good work, slightly expensive but that's good, you get what you paid for, my AC runs amazing! Shout out to Jon!

I was extremely pleased with the service provided by Jon and Soho HVAC. He was very professional, punctual, and friendly. My building requires full insurance and a bunch of paperwork. Other HVAC companies ignored the instructions I gave them, but Jon spoke with me, looked through the requirements properly, and provided all the paperwork in a timely fashion. He recommended excellent units at a reasonable price. The install day went smoothly with him and one of his workers. I would 100% recommend Soho HVAC and perhaps most telling, my super immediately took his contact information after seeing his work. read more

Contacted John at SohoHVAC during the hottest week of this past Summer as our through the wall AC died. My young Daughter and I were sweltering in our roasting apartment. John answered all my questions honestly and accurately and provided a very competitive price to install the new air conditioner. He arrived promptly the same day and the unit was installed with no issues. He saved us from a sweltering apartment. I highly recommend Soho HVAC and commend John for his high quality work and fine customer service. I am grateful for his service. read more

We moved into a new apartment while 8 months pregnant over the summer and learned the central AC was not working at all. Jon responded to my message quickly, understood the urgency and was able to visit to assess the units. He appropriately determined that they were very old and needed replacement, and was extremely helpful in fitting us into his schedule. It was not an easy job, but Jon is experienced and the new units work great. We later had him also replace an old PTAC unit which also went well. I feel confident that I could reach out to Jon if we ever came across an issue as he is very responsive. Definitely recommend! read more

I had an issue with my AC unit compressor, which needed to be replaced. My family went without running AC during peak summer for almost two months while I was sorting this out. I first called TWO other HVAC repair companies in NYC, who quoted me estimates for parts and labor that were 1) wildly expensive, and 2) wildly different from each other. I was desperate to get my family AC but I had a feeling I was about to get violently ripped off. So I found Jon on Yelp, and called him out of desperation. Even though he already had a completely booked schedule, he went overtime to come and service the issue during the evenings. The job took two nights to complete and at one point required an ingenious solution by Jon to work around an issue but it got done, and the AC's been working perfectly since then. All this and Jon charged me substantially less than the other two companies I'd called. It is really tough as a normal customer to find an HVAC company you can trust because most of them know you're uninformed and probably desperate, so when you do find someone who is actually a good guy and also very skilled, consider yourself very lucky. Jon is the only guy I will trust in this business going forward, he is as straight a shooter as they come and he will give you the good with the bad but you can rest assured he will always be honest. read more

I would heartily recommend Soho HVAC - I found the guy with the most positive reviews on Yelp. I had engaged another company (the "preferred/recommended one" for our building) for several "maintenance" arrangements - uniformly, the units would leak a few weeks after indicating that they hadn't been cleaned. There are two places PTAC units in our building can leak - either the hot water pipe (that is the building's issue and one needs to be careful to inspect them every winter) and the other is the PTAC condenser unit gets clogged from lack of cleaning. The PTAC maintenance is simply to clean the filters and remove the gunk buildup from the condenser outlet. Anyway, I had all my units replaced with Islandaire units. Jon (the owner) personally oversaw his very courteous staff and patiently explained all the things I need to worry about. I would recommend him heartily to any other resident. read more

Jon has got a very professional team in SohoHVAC. I choose Jon because is the most responsive among others and his fee quote is also very competitive. He helped me cleaned the PTAC unit, added Nest thermostat to it, replaced the motorized valve and coils. The quality of the work is exceptional. He also checked in afterward to see if the system is running well. I will definitely recommend SohoHVAC. read more

Jon is responsive and does superb work. I was able to schedule a replacement PTAC replacement within a couple days of reaching out. He even cut the floorboard to accommodate the slightly longer base of the new unit. Plus, the Ice Air unit that he installed works great, and is much quieter than the previous PTAC. The compressor is so quiet when its on that it's often hard to tell that it's not just the fan running. I'm extremely pleased with the results, andI highly recommend contacting him for his expertise and services! read more

Very helpful. I requested for quote and SohoHVAC gave me tips on how to check a few things myself to fix the issue.

This is the company to use if you are a single woman and need a new HVAC unit. Jon, the proprietor, is honest, competent, and incredibly helpful. The unit he installed was well-priced, quiet, get's the job done and energy efficient. After dealing with other companies who thought as a single woman I was naive and unintelligent, and attempted to charge double for a unit that never worked, I was so relieved to find Jon and SohoHVAC. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I have owned my condo for over 20 years through many heating and air conditioning glitches. Jon has the best service I have ever experienced. SohoHVAC is now the company that the super of my building recommends. Did I mention that Jon is the best? The absolute best. :) read more

Customer Service Review: I was in need of a replacement AC Unit in my apt. I came across SohoHVAC and they had the best reviews so I reached out to Jon and he got back to me within 30 minutes. We exchanged yelp messages, moved to text, then got on the phone to chat about the Installation, etc. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what I needed. No runaround. He said he would be able to get the job done quick once the COI was in place. His price is in line if not better than other places. We had begun the COI process with my building but it turned out my building requires certain vendors that have been in the building for years. Unfortunately I was unable to use Jon for the installation of my new AC unit but I have all the confidence he would have done an excellent job if he did based on how responsive and easy he was to talk about the job. When I let him know I needed to go another way, there were no hard feelings or zero response. Sometimes things just dont work out. Thanks for your time Jon. Excellent customer service. read more

I had an issue with my thermostat wiring and AC power, so I messaged SohoHVAC for a quote. Jon is great! I've worked with him a couple times. He's always professional, responsive, on time, and gets the job done quickly at a fair price. Jon was amazing to work with. He was very responsive during initial exchanges via Yelp, responding even during late off hours. Jon and his partner came to my apartment to fix an a/c unit well prepared: masks, gloves, mat to put the a/c unit on not to scratch the floor, even disposable bags on their shoes! Now THAT's a way to approach work during pandemic! Jon was super nice and explained that my unit had lost some of its refrigerant. They quickly refilled it and the unit has been working perfectly since. Quick, attentive, reasonably priced service - SohoHVAC earns its place on my short list. read more

Absolutely perfect experience with Jon and SohoHVAC! I called him because my central AC was making an odd sound that permeated both floors of the apartment and he responded right away and came the same day on time. He was phenomenally patient and spent a lot of time checking out the huge central AC unit to figure out what was making the sound. He got the correct replacement part and came back promptly to install it and the problem was fixed! His pricing was extremely reasonable and he was able to work with my very finicky wireless thermostat as well. Above and beyond my expectations- I would recommend Jon to anyone! read more

I cannot say enough good things about John and SohoHVAC, yes praising his professionalism, great work, honesty, and overall so happy I found them. I called 5-7 other local AC repair shops to find out if/when they could check out 3 Ptac A.C. Units - right in the middle of HOT NYC SUMMER - like 88-95 degrees - busiest season! John made the time to talk to me and listen to what my A.C. issues were and gave me his professional opinion via phone. He then made time in his busy schedule to go look at the units. He has experience, and can assess a lot of problems quickly and over the phone. He does not waste your time or money. He communicates. He and his assistant are timely. I ended up replacing all three of my units - again, he made the time and installed them in and all is working very well. I highly recommend SohoHVAC. read more

I needed to replace a really old, extremely heavy, thru the wall a/c. At least a half dozen companies claimed they couldn't do it and one who said he would, wanted to charge me a ridiculous price, It is apparent that unless you are going to hire these companies to install an a/c in your window, there is no interest. Installing an a/c in a window is not rocket science, I do it it every summer, though I do understand why some people may need that type of service. Calling your company a/c experts when all you do is window installations is a bit much however. In the beginning of July I found Soho HVAC. Jon is responsive, personable, experienced and honest. He has been in the business 20 years and certainly didn't need the work. We texted over the week while he was busy on other projects. I will be eternally grateful for his help. Came on the weekend, gave me a good price, did the install and hauled away my old clunker and we had a couple of laughs in between. Doesn't get much better than that. . read more
