Keep Cool installed my wall-through AC unit. We prepared the sleeve and then the KC technician came and unpacked the AC, inserted it into the sleeve and sealed around it. Not complicated and I probably could have done it myself but it was worth the $100 to make sure it was done right. If you need a Certificate of Insurance it's another $20 but you can process it online and it comes fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dave at KC was excellent. He responded to emails promptly and the technician showed up at the very start of the 3 hour window I was given[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I've used Keep Cool NYC twice, and have been so grateful each time. The first was in June 2020 - definitely an uncertain time - when I needed new window units that I'd purchased installed in two windows in my apartment. I was so impressed with their responsiveness, efficiency, and the work that they performed. They also took safety precautions at the time quite seriously which I appreciated, as it was a scary time. Fast forward five years, during the record-breaking June 2025 heatwave in NYC, and a friend who was staying in my apartment reported that each unit was having issues. The bedroom unit was leaking into the bedroom and had to be shut off; and my downstairs neighbor reported my living room unit was leaking into her apartment. In spite of the heat wave, when I'm sure they were busier than they'd ever been, [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dave responded immediately, and diagnosed that the bedroom unit was probably clogged (I'd left it in the window for five years) but could be repaired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And he perceived that the living room unit was likely *not* malfunctioning, but working as expected, and it was probably an issue with the downstairs neighbor's window. In spite of the heat wave and how busy they must've been, they were able to come out within a day, and Dave's initial expectation was right on the money. They were able to fully clean and repair the bedroom unit, which is back to good as new, and help diagnose the perceived issue with the living room unit. Indeed, it was a problem with the downstairs neighbor's window (and she would've been vulnerable for the same reason to rain or any other external water), so the super is on the case for that. The prices were completely reasonable and I was only charged for the one repair, at the quoted price. Keep Cool NYC personnel truly know air conditioners and they charge very reasonably for their work. On July 28, 2024, a technician named Roman came to my home and did a beautiful job installing an 8000 BTU Friedrich inverter AC, model CCV08A10A, into a 39 and 5/8" wide window frame, which is wider than the maximum width for which this model was initially designed; to accomplish this installation, Roman expertly cut on site and then attached to this AC 1/8 thick polycarbonate side panels. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Working with Roman and with everyone else at Keep Cool NYC, notably Maria and Dave, was an enjoyable experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Accordingly, I have used Keep Cool NYC two more times since the above installation. In November of 2024, due to the impending winter, I needed to remove from the window the AC that Roman had installed therein on July 28, 2024. On or about November 4, 2024 I contacted Keep Cool NYC again and arranged for Roman to remove this AC, which he then promptly and efficiently did. Thereafter it became summer's turn to be impending, so I arranged with Dave Messina for Roman to visit my home on May 21, 2025 and reinstall this AC and also install in another room two units I had recently purchased of the same model AC. Technicians came Thursday the 29th, and have to say, the whole experience from setting up the appointment (they ask of you detailed questions but it's important that they get as precise as possible to prevent mishaps) to the day of installation. I offered to show them YouTube guides, because many people noted that this particular AC is a tough install. They told me it was ok, and that they can handle it. The other was a top window installation...took 40 min or so...it looks great and works perfectly. Would recommend! My technician came out the day after I received a quote from David and did an excellent job installing my air conditioner. I had to have mine installed in the top panel of my window and he made sure that everything was secure and supported. Also went with the plexiglass option which I would definitely recommend - those accordions are terrible - especially if you are doing a top panel installation. The technician installed plexiglass above the unit as well so we had some leeway in how much the window needed to be open. I also had gotten quotes from other companies and Keep Cool came in on the lower end, even with all the custom work. They also seem to be one of the few who will actually do a top panel installation. The only reason I dinged a star off was because it did take a while to get a quote back. I had submitted my information on their website but there wasn't any movement until I reached out via Yelp. I engaged Keep Cool NYC to remove an old Window AC unit and replace it with a new one of identical size / brand. They were responsive and quickly provided a quote. It is a large unit and is placed at the top of a window and so I thought the cost of $250 for the installation (+ $30 for COI) was reasonable. The installer also suggested contacting 311 to remove the old Window AC unit which was appreciated, even though I ended up paying for a professional junk remover. Communication ahead of the installation was clear / prompt and the team quickly removed the old Window AC unit and replaced it with the new unit. While the speed was appreciated, the team could have moved more slowly but more carefully. Following the installation, I noticed that a cabinet near the window was kicked in, with the cabinet appearing to have been kicked either when the old unit was being carried down the ladder or when the new unit was being carried up the ladder. When I mentioned the damage the next morning to the Keep Cool NYC team, I received a conflicting response. The installer stated that he believed me while simultaneously putting forward several implausible theories that I (not the Keep Cool NYC team) had damaged the cabinet. Given that I wasn't asking for Keep Cool to fix the damage to the cabinet or to compensate me, it seemed odd that the response was to deflect. I ended up having to pay a carpenter ~$150 to fix the cabinet. The old Window AC unit, which was heavy and had sharp metal edges, was also placed directly onto the wood parquet floors of my apartment, even though it could have easily been placed on towels that were nearby (on the floor) or onto cardboard from the box that the new Window AC unit had been delivered in. The wooden floor was scratched under the Window AC unit and I will have to get it sanded back and polished at some point in the future. While I'm happy to have my new Window AC unit installed, it is disappointing that my apartment was damaged in the process. Keep Cool NYC has many positive reviews and I had assumed everything would go smoothly. I wish that I had been watching the entire installation more closely and could have asked for the old Window AC unit to be placed on towels / cardboard. My experience may be an aberration but I would recommend being remaining close during the installation process, if you can. read more
