Truly a great cafe/restaurant. It was very busy but upon entering we were greeted by the manager/owner, I think who said someone would be right with us and they were. The wait staff is very good and very professional, if a tad fast (I am still used to european cafe's where you're in for an hour just for coffee), and the food was excellent. Lots of healthy choices. Even the burger came on a whole wheat bun. My son had the spag bol and he loved it. My other son had the burger and it was very good, so he says. My husband had the Eatin Wrap and he loved it. I had the Trio salad plate and I loved it. What I loved the most, however, was the white Sangria. I literally sat there and did not leave til all the diced fruit that lay so invitingly in the wine glass was gone. I will go back for sure with the girls and drink on the terrace on a sunny day. I will go back as well for the excellent brunch choices on a Sunday before hitting the museums. We will all go back for more. I highly recommend. read more

We came here for Restaurant Week and overall were VERY disappointed. We didn't realize it was valet only and when we tried to self-park, the valet boxed us in w/ the cones--not a good first impression. We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip and it came w/ stale chips and a layer of greasy oil/butter on top--disgusting. I actually poured it out on a plate to show the waiter who just shrugged. After we complained, he brought it back in a wider dish so the grease wouldn't be as noticeable. DUH! Luckily the salmon was good but the chocolate lava cake was stale. VERY disappointing as I'm a choc-aholic. For the price, it seems they could afford fresh chips and cake and healthy dip, esp if trying to find new patrons. Nice enough service but lots of guys hanging around the back who could/should be helping customers. The bar area next door had an upscale atmosphere and great outside seating. I had good memories of this place in the past but sad to say, we won't return to this location. read more

I was really looking forward to coming to this place because I heard that it has a great selection for breakfast/brunch. Little did I know, I came here on a Thursday morning and they advised me that breakfast/brunch is only on the weekends. OK, no problem. We ended up order the hummus and crabcakes for our appetizers. Crabcakes are not too bad. The crabcakes are served with corn and bellpeppers on top of a bed of a spring salad. The sauce had a slight kick to it, which I like. The jalapeno hummus was not spicy at all. It was just ok, I've had better elsewhere. I ordered the crispy chicken cobb salad for their Thursday special and my other half ordered the gyro platter. It didn't look appetizing to me, but he said the rice tasted like Uncle Ben's rice and the meat was just ok. As far as the cobb salad goes, you usually think of corn, ham, eggs, avocado. etc. This "cobb" salad just came with 3 chicken tenders, few slices of avocado mixed with greens like kale. Nothing close to a cobb salad whatsoever. The salad was also drenched in the dressing that it was a tad bit soggy. Besides the crabcakes, the only other dish we liked was the spagetti from the kids that we ordered for our son. Simple angel hair pasta with chicken tossed in a marinara sauce. Overall, I would come back here again JUST to try the breakfast/brunch. Other than that, everything else is just mediocre. read more

Mediocre. Lovely venue, lackluster food. First, the spinach dip was very good, but the chips given with them was stale. The caramelized walnuts that came with the salad were chewy, rather than crunchy and refreshing. Also, the crab cake Benedict had overcooked eggs. Great service! I am a huge fan of their brunch and we always go right before the crowd on Sundays. The wait staff is quick, always attentive, and never let's a cup of coffee go unfilled. Their southwest chicken brunch item is my favorite and Next Door is fun too. read more

The food is always good here, fresh and hearty sized portions. And there is something for everyone, whether it be vegan, vegetarian, gluten free or carnivore with a sweet tooth. I have never had a bad meal here, we eat here once every month or two. The wait staff is always attentive and accommodating. Tonight was definitely the exception on wait staff. Our waiter came to us promptly but that was the last time he did. We had to look for him several times for refills, once my husband got up to find the tea pitcher and had to ask the waiter who was standing behind the counter. We order our meals and an appetizer. I repeated myself twice on the appetizer because I got the feeling he didn't hear me, he said yes, he got it. Well, our entrees came and no appetizer. It came as we were starting to eat our entrees and it was wrong. I asked the waiter(not the staff that delivers your entree) if it was the right hummus and he said yes, well, it wasn't. But since I like their hummus we ate it, with our meals. Then came ordering dessert, we had to repeat ourselves several times because we didn't think he was following us. And again we asked for refills of tea. 3 of us got our desserts and the 4th was no where to be found. We had to ASK about the 4th dessert, he said it was coming. What? Why wouldn't he wait to serve all 4 at once? All beit 3 were cold desserts and the 4th was a warm one, but still, why not just wait and serve all 4 at once? It was a very frustrating meal always having to look for the waiter. We will go back, but will avoid that one waiter. Hence 3 stars where I would normally give 5. read more

Great for lunch on west side of Houston. Lot's of folks from the energy business. You need to get there before the lunch crowd. best to get there by 11:30. The parking is tight bt there is valet. This place can never get an order right!! Several times now I have ordered their basic side salad that comes with spring mix, feta cheese, tom., and candied pecans. They always send me some other random salad! This has happened to me THREE times now!!! To include the word "bistro" when giving this place a name is tantamount to McDonald's using the word "cafe" to describe its coffee. The crab cakes were the size of silver dollars and tasted like they came out of a freezer at Sam's Club. This would be ok had they not come on a plate as a set of two for the bargain price of $10.50. My double gin and tonic was in a short glass and yet I barely tasted any gin at all. For $20.00 I drank them both and felt no buzz whatsoever. The turkey sandwich was a pretentious combination of bread and alfalfa sprouts, stacked high hide to obscure the generic classification of meat nestled between the even cheaper ingredients. After spending fifty five bucks for my wife and I to enjoy our greasy snacks and watered down beverages, we proceeded home to eat properly. Oh yeah, and the service sucks. read more

Be careful of this place - especially at night! My husband and I and two other guests left this establishment at approximately 9:30pm after experiencing a large number of big cockroaches all around us while seated in the covered patio area of this restaurant. One of these cockroaches flew across our table as we sat. My husband killed one by stepping on it. As we got up out of our seats to leave the area, a waitress came out to the area, shrieked at the sight of the bugs, and left. The bugs began running across our table, across the top of the bench seat where we were seated, and along a small wall adjacent to our table. We all (me, my husband and the other customers) went inside the restaurant and told our waiter what was going on outside and that there is a dead cockroach on the ground beside where my husband sat as evidence. We all said we wanted our checks and that we are leaving. The waiter went outside to inspect. When he returned while preparing our checks, it seemed that he was informing his manager of what happened. The manager approached us, apologized for the inconvenience, and said he will make sure they take care of this. When the manager returned with our checks, he gave us a 15% credit - definitely not enough of a consideration in my opinion for this type of incident, or enough to prevent me from posting this review of extremely bad pest prevention for a food establishment. read more

I have been here for lunch on numerous occasions as it's close to where I work. The food is phenomenal!! I would definitely recommend trying the Homemade Hummus Sampler or Baked Goat Cheese with Toasted Baguette for an appetizer! The only complaints I would have, is that during peak hours, the parking can be difficult (only if you choose not to valet) and the service is kind of slow. read more

My family (3people) and friends (2 people) went to the Memorial location for breakfast. At the time we were seated these was only one or 2 other couples in the facility. We ordered our breakfast and and 45 mintues we still had not received our food. We noticed that there was food on the pass waiting to be served. We saw other couples being seated.....order taken...food served...they ate their breakfast and left..and WE STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED OUR FOOD. We ordered the following: Eggs benedict, french toast, the Traditional breakfast, Eggs and bacon and a hamburger with Mayonaise and onions only. When our food arrived, everything was cold the eggs benedict was congealed as if sat under a warmer plate for a significant length of time, french toast was cold, and the burger was served with bacon and pickles. We asked to have the french toast the burger and the eggs benedict remade and sent it back to the kitchen. The 3 plates were put in the warming oven and returned to us even more congealed than the first time. We saw the waitress speak to the manager and...nothing was done or said to us. A discount off of our bill was not offered, the manager did not acknowledge us in any way (over $50.00 for breakfast that rated Poor at best). I have to say I have had better food served at a McDonald's I believe he set a poor example for his employees. I have worked in the food industry previously and realize that mistakes happen.....it is however, how we deal with these mistakes that makes or breaks restaurants and quality customer service. I approached the manager at the kitchen counter and "Thanked him" for apologizing to us and acknowledging our horrible experience in such a professional manner. (Yes this was meant completely sarcastically as he did not have the courtesy to say anything to us at all) He rolled his eyes at me. I told him he should be ashamed for his lack of professionalism and embarassed by the example he is setting for his staff. We will most definitely NEVER return to ythis establishment and I will share this negative experience with everyone that can stand still long enough to listen. I am embarassed that I took my friends to Hungry's and will not make this tragic error again. read more

I come here often for lunch with my coworkers and always have a good meal. The Gyro plate and the meatloaf are my favorite things on the menu. The only problem seems to be that their menu is too big. It's a lot to look through to try and make a quick decision. But so far, what I have decided on has been very good. read more

Placed an order with the restaurant through Eat 24 and 2 hrs passed no order..Called the restaurant to check on the status of our order and the first man that got on the phone was very polite. Another man got on the phone with an attitude and actually raised his voice at me saying that it was Eat 24's fault.. Mind you I wasn't upset or yelling at him. I don't care who's fault it is you don't yell at a customer, especially when they weren't being nasty after waiting over 2 hrs. We usually order from them once or twice a week. The food here is unique & different. I tried the pita plate w/fries. It was very good! The fries are home made style with a great taste, & the pita was very flavorful/fresh. The service is fair? We have been going to Hungry's since it opened and have always had great service. We also often order over the phone for carry out orders, and usually everything is great. Tonight sadly we were very disappointed. When I ordered initially they said our number wasn't in the system, which is odd because we've ordered there several times but hey there are computer glitches so I gave them all our info again. My husband went to go pick up the food since it was under his name. He paid for the order and came home. During our meal we get a call asking if we had picked up our food, we said we did and they told us our order was "still open". We told them we paid with a cc and they said ok. Then over the next 45 min we received THREE more calls with them repeatedly asking if we had paid for our order, all but accusing my husband of stealing food. He dug the receipts out of the trash that all had his name and the credit card transaction on them. The final call was from the manager who requested our cc info over the phone so he could "sync up" his records. All of this hassle for a $30 meal. I understand errors are made and we understand management does their best to resolve situations like this but tonight was handled very poorly. As much as we enjoy this place, we will now most likely only dine in for fear we may be bothered all night about an error that was not our fault. Went for a early dinner at about 3:45 on a Monday. Was seated promptly and I noticed only about 3 or 4 other tables of customers. After too long of a wait our waitress finally took our order. I ordered the salmon and my son ordered the chicken fried chicken. Well 45 minutes later our meal arrives (by now we are about the only occupied table in the restaurant) without an explanation of why it took so long and instead of salmon the waitress gave me chicken fried chicken and when I stated that I ordered the salmon her only response was that she thought I had said the same thing (as my son). She did say that she would get me the salmon but I declined afraid I would have to wait too long again. A few minutes later a lady manager comes to our table and ask if there was a problem. When I explained the situation she stated the reason the food took so long was the kitchen was changing shifts! I worked in the restaurant business for years and this was a really bad excuse. If you can not figure out how to change over you kitchen help without sacrificing your customers then you need to do split shifts. She did comp my meal and gave me the salmon I ordered as take home and gave me a free dessert but the poor attitude the waitress had never changed and she never apologized. To top off the ordeal the vegetables on our plate where basically raw and the chicken fried chicken was no better than you would get in a school cafeteria. I hate to see what happens at the restaurant when they are busy. read more

I normally love eating at Hungrys. The food is always good and the service is normally great. However tonight I have to admit the service was poor. I am not sure if the server is new but I can tell you he needs additional training. I ordered water as soon as I sat down and literally had to waive at him (he was standing in the bar area where the food is served) to get water! He hadn't been back to check on me but had visited the table next to me at least twice. I had already eaten half of my appetizer by this time. Once he brought the water he did apologize which was fine. However he never came back to check on me While I waited on my 2nd course. I noticed him going to other tables especially the table next to me (two couples there) It was not at all busy tonight so I don't understand the issue. I'm sitting here now with an empty water glass as he visits the neighboring table. This is the first time I've experienced bad service here so I would definitely look at it as a training opportunity for this gentleman. Very Unfortunate. read more

Went here for the first time with a girlfriend last night. We originally wanted to grab drinks and a bite at Next Door but smoking is allowed on the patio and we opted to eat at Hungry's (the same facility). They had a DELICIOUS grapefruit spritzer drink special which was my staple for the evening. The Kabab plate was flavorful and my meat was well marinated and juicy. Loved the ambiance outdoors; next to us were potted herbs of rosemary, thyme, and basil which have a pleasant aroma. I was disappointed that their menus did not have gluten free bread or pasta alternatives because that limited the menu options for me (which, is the price you pay at some places) and the crab cake was less than stellar (it's a flat patty, not a lump). Overall we had such a great time and the staff was so lovely; when walking past the glass walls of the kitchen even the Chef looked jovial. I'll definitely be returning. read more

I went to brunch with my friends this morning,food was good. Server Esteban was great. But we had some issues. We could tell it was busy, so waiting was fine. We are all servers. We could definitely tell the managers apart from the servers. The male manager was great, brought over some of out tables items. But we had no idea what was wrong with the female manager. She dressed like a high school student, she also acted as if we were a bother. She never once had anything to say to us just dropped our stuff off and left. We had the rest of our table come in as she was dropping something off and didn't ask if they needed anything just left. We looked at each other kinda shocked. But our server came over pretty soon after that, so everyone was taken care of. We just couldn't believe that a manager would treat us like that. But overall food was great everyone loved what they had. Service was great. Definitely coming back for the server and food. read more
