Love going to Arturo's! It seems to be the hidden gem in that neighborhood. Very intimate, cozy and romantic but also a great atmosphere for family dinners. Arturo is a remarkably talented chef and has had various restaurants in Houston for years. I love the bread! My favorites are the mussels, house salad that is enormous - love the hearts of palm, and the shrimp pasta pesto. I'm sure everything is delicious and the seafood dishes have gotten rave reviews. Nice creme brûlée taste at the end! Wish they had a full bar but it's just beer and wine. Service is consistently good. Valet is available but I've never used it.

I didn't intend to eat at this restaurant initially, the restaurant across the street had a bar that was full so I decided to come here instead. Very quaint, but nice ambience inside, the wait staff were incredibly hospitable and put a seat at the bar for me so I thought that it was going to be a good experience. Unfortunately, the owner was incredibly condescending to me and even made a comment about "watching me "and that he had cameras. I am a person who spends a good deal of money at restaurants, and so I was incredibly appalled at his remarks. Saying something in a joking manner does not make it better. Please know that my server was amazing and I let her know about my experience, and she apologized for him and insinuated that this was not the first time he had offended a customer. I will not be back. Please make your decision wisely.

4 top table in the wine cellar makes for a cool and uniquely Houston experience

This neighborhood gem is the complete package. The valet is a permanent fixture and is friendly and professional. Fresh and tasty specials every night, a wood burning oven for pizzas and rolls - and an excellent wine selection. Service makes you feel comfortable - as they have a professional and tenured waitstaff. The red snapper, carnitas pizza and mussels with the jalapeño/tomatillo broth are unique and worthy. If you have a party of 4 and you are very proactive - you can book the wine cellar table. Expect Arturo to say hello. Such a nice touch. And the crème brûlée spoons are perfect ending. Just love this place.

Dear foodie readers, a new review, I have been a little off my game...a lot going on, but let's get to why you are reading this...Arturo Boada...nestled on del monte street in in the briar grove area...unfortunately the facade doesn't do it justice, but I felt it added to the charm of the whole experience...it's a small space, I recommend reservations...we were welcomed by the super friendly staff...once we sat down, we took in the vibe...I loved that it was just a tad old school...nothing over the top...and honestly no need for fancy, because his food is fantastic. We started with delicious garlic bread, along with the sautéed calamari....yes you read that correctly...sautéed, and let me tell you, wayyyy better than fried....the garlic and oil sauce was beyond amazing, we wanted to dab anything we could in it, it was that good. We also had the ceviche, was excellent as well. Our entrees next, I had one of specials, it was branzino with crab on top, sheer perfection. Simple no frills, and paired with some veggies...my husband got the tuna, and enjoyed it as well. My kids loved their steak and pasta. We then ordered dessert, 3 of them, we couldn't resist, I was celebrating my anniversary so why not. In house pistachio gelato, apple tart, and flourless chocolate cake...can't say which was my favorite, they were all wonderful. The best part is Arturo comes and visits his guests, very hospitable man. Thank you for a great evening.

I've only been here once, first time on Wednesday 02/10 for a surprise early Valentine's dinner from husband. We were also accompanied by two of our kids (elementary kid and preschooler). The staff-awesome- in welcoming us to the restaurant, and even considerate to our kids. There were no eye rolls or scoffing, lol, at us. They offered custom off menu items for us as well, especially with children accompanying us. SERVICE: We were politely asked permission to have our temperatures taken and hand sanitizer, I absolutely love that it wasn't something forced upon us! Doors were held for us upon entry and exiting. Tables were separated well enough apart. Drinks refilled in a timely manner, plates moved in a timely manner, food was given in great timing, everyone was extremely polite including the chef himself, server knew the menu items, and just all around great service! FOOD: -Tacos Snapper-YUMMY, best fish in a taco I have ever had! Seasoning, flavor, moisture-it was all PERFECTION with the the fish. The tortillas, I wouldn't say it's store bought, but the taste similarly aligns with that. Overall, if you're a fish taco lover like me-this was still a good choice. -Cauliflower soup-YUMMY -Tuna Tartare-Decent, slightly salty -Charred tomato basil-eh okay, server warned us it wasn't like La Madeleine style tomato basil which we were okay with, but tasted like gas to me. -"Why Not" Margherita Pizza-YUMMY, even kids enjoyed this pizza dish, everyone did -Rigatoni Pasta-decent, chicken was more dry than wanted for me and pasta could've been slightly softer. Sauce was good -House spaghetti marinara side order- kids ENJOYED, I liked it as well. -Frutti Di Mare-Husband was absolutely DELIGHTED with this dish DESSERT: -Tiramisu-Not for me, I was not a fan with unexpectedly tasting an orange flavored Tiramisu -Key Lime Pie-although it definitely tastes homemade with real limes, it was too soggy and more tart than would like. -Wood oven baked Apple Pastry-favorite dessert of all for husband and kid, I didn't try -Creme brûlée- to be fair, we did not order this, but got complimentary spoons of tasting for this. I think getting the spoons didn't do it justice how we tasted it...so tip, I heard if it's your first visit and you don't order any dessert you may be able to get the whole creme brûlée complimentary. AGAIN, we have only been here once. Although some of the food items could have been better, the service made the entire experience feel like 5 stars. However, don't expect it to be five star dining with hot towels, someone waiting by your table to collect crumbs, seat pulling each time, and coat collection-it wasn't like that. It was just a great, laid-back welcoming atmosphere!

Chef Arturo is highly passionate about his creations and it shows in every dish. This is my 6th time and have never been disappointed. They have an excellent selection of wines which are paired well with each dish. Do try the chef tasting menu as it's an amazing feast.

Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

I would like to preface, this isn't a cheap quick dinner restaurant but I highly recommend coming at least once. We found it on the Michelin guide. I love the inside of the restaurant, the layout is fun and intimate. *grilled oysters were good. The flavor from the n'duja with the bits of pecan was something I would never think to pair. Great start! * elk tartare was surprisingly amazing. I always find tartare to be a tough dish to make outstanding and with elk I was hesitant to try but happy we tried it. The plate was cleaned by the time we finished. The cracker was light and paired well with it. * maitake mushrooms were so good that we had to split it evenly so no one got an unfair amount lol The sauce is like a coffee/caramel/chocolately savory sauce. Mt description doesn't do it justice. It's umami but has a caramelized feel. Just get it! * pork chop was the best pork chop we've had. We typically order steak over pork chops at restaurants but heard great things. Tender and flavorful. I will say it's a very rich dish so be mindful of that but highly recommended * grits, this was the dark horse. It was our favorite tapa. We laugh bc we didn't think grits would be the fav, out of all the amazing dishes. But the beef cheek underneath the silky grits... YUM! I'll be craving them *basque cheesecake was good but not the best we've had. But it's also hard to compete with all the other dishes we had

We love elevated tapas style restaurants so we had to see what it was all about! Unfortunately, the food just didn't wow me at all. It was fine, but fine doesn't cut it for this price. Food: - Duck Liver: 6/10 I LOVE pate so this one was extra disappointing. They pureed it so much that it lost all texture and was like a butter. If that was the only thing off, it would be fine. But the other flavors in there just didn't work for me. The sweetness and oiliness that they added were too overpowering that I could hardly taste the liver itself. The bread was great though. - Elk Tartare: 10/10 I'm not the biggest fan of tartare but this was the best tartare I've ever had and the best dish of the night! The sunflower cracker was amazing; it gave a nice toasty nutty flavor that contrasted with the yuzu underneath. I love all the different textures going on in this dish, which is why I like it better than other tartares which tend to be only chewy/slimy/wet. - Maitake: 8/10 Cooked really nicely. Perfectly crisp and flaky. Just a little too sour for me. - Okra: 7/10 The Gouda sauce was interesting but the okra itself was nothing special. It was nicely roasted and charred. - Pork chop: 6/10 As the main dish of the night, this was quite disappointing. No interesting flavors whatsoever. You can't really taste the chamomile dusting unless you lick it directly. The jowl that they spread on top didn't taste like anything distinct. In fact, I didn't like the texture of it because it was crunchy in a way that felt like I was crunching through little bits of tiny bone... - Basque cheesecake: 9/10 The dessert rounded out the evening nicely. Solid cheesecake. No complaints. Service: Honestly too "attentive" to the point that it was annoying and disruptive. They would interrupt us every 10 minutes it felt like. And the food came out pretty slowly.

From the moment we arrived, the valet experience was unprofessional. The valet demanded payment upfront in a rude manner, did not return the correct change, and responded with a disrespectful tone when I asked about it. This immediately created a negative and uncomfortable impression. Unfortunately, things only got worse inside. The staff were unwelcoming and dismissive from the beginning. Despite multiple empty tables, we were seated right next to the entrance where cold air was constantly coming in, making it very uncomfortable for my family. When we politely asked for a different table, we were refused without any reasonable explanation. Instead, we were told that because we had a child and needed a high chair, this was the only table available, which made no sense at all. The table itself was cramped and clearly unsuitable for four people. What made this even more concerning is that a manager appeared to be present, yet no effort was made to resolve the situation or assist us. At that point, we decided to leave. This experience was not only frustrating, but also embarrassing in front of my family. I expected a much higher level of professionalism from a restaurant listed on Resy. I chose this restaurant based on my trust in the Resy platform and its association with American Express, and I expected a certain standard of professionalism that was clearly not met. I will also be reporting this experience to both Resy and American Express. I do not recommend this place.

As with several other restaurants I've reviewed recently, this is one that I normally wouldn't frequent, but since they were participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks they were on my radar. We got a table for three for the volunteers in one of my service groups to check it out. One of us had been here before, but the rest of us hadn't. The appetizers were pretty good, but nothing spectacular. The tapas variadas were more of a charcuterie plate than actual tapas, but were still a nice appetizer for the rest of the meal. The calamari was different from what you normally see (fried and served with marinara). Instead, this was boiled in garlic butter and onions, almost like a shrimp scampi type of dish. It made the calamari a bit more gummy than we'd like, but still worth trying. The item I was looking forward to most was the paella langosta, which I'd heard amazing things about. I'd been told that this was one of the best places to grab paella in Houston. Sadly, out of four different restaurants, this was by far the worst paella I'd had. It was lacking in flavor, seemed to be thrown together at the last minute, and just didn't live up to the hype. The atmosphere seemed like it would have been nice if not for an absolutely obnoxious table right next to us. They were boisterous and completely oblivious to the negative experience they were providing to the people at neighboring tables. On more than one occasion they got up and bumped one of our tables. The worst part is, we later found out that it was the owner entertaining some friends. You would think he'd have known better than to have other patrons treated like that. Service was a bit of a mess also. The waiter disappeared several times, never refilled our drinks, and we practically had to go searching for him after 20+ minutes of sitting around waiting for our checks. At least two of us were completely disappointed in our visit, and even the third, who had been there before, acknowledged that it wasn't quite what he'd experienced in the past. Oh well, he might be back, but we definitely won't.
