Cool cafe vibes for quick coffee or casual date. There isnt much about the cafe to highlight. In prime location, friendly service. Tried their madeleines which were quiet good.

Honestly, cold brew ($4.50 + tax) here was so mediocre. Price was very standard. Store is small so not really a place to hang and work for long hours. More of a grab your drink and leave place. Would only come back if in area or if I was craving a drink desperately and nothing else was open.

I went to Hungry Ghost with a friend as a starting point for a walk. Full disclaimer, I don't drink coffee, but as someone who feels hopelessly in the minority of adults I am occasionally open to a coffee shop meet where I know the only viable option for me will likely be hot cocoa. Well, I ordered one and honestly, it tasted kind of like any coffee shop hot cocoa I've had, kind of bitter (like dark chocolatey? I don't like dark chocolate at all) and not smooth enough. Like the problem could be too little cocoa or too little sugar. Either way, for me it was nothing special, but if you're a coffee lover, obvious your mileage has a lot more potential for variation. PS- When are coffee places gonna start keeping lactose free milk on hand? No love for us!

Cute space, great coffee, King David Tacos, fast service, convenient location on Flatbush. What more could you need? Had a large almond milk latte, and it got me wired for hours! They also sell whole beans (from Stumptown).

I was a dreary, decaffeinated ghost until I came here to return to the land of the living as a happy human. You can hear the spooky voice, saying "reeeeeallaaax" through the walls. (Not really, Hungry Ghost usually plays mellow R&B, chill pop, or sweet 00's hip hop - where are you now my dear Ne-Yo?) ~Whole milk cortado is thick and flavorful ~Iced coffee is delicious ~Iced Matcha Latte, if you like matte, is yummy and grassy ~Salted Peanut Butter is the perfect amount of soft and crumbly and potently peanut buttery *A highlight* Baristas have always been kind! Bring your laptop weekdays 11am-4pm but otherwise, expect to not find a spot with your machine, and enjoy the ambiance - live edge cedar tables, dark wood, light walls, filament bulbs and exposed brick as you listen to 2011 Adele. Reeeelllaaaaaax

I stumbled across the Hungry Ghost while I was on my way to having a nice brunch a few doors down. This up and coming area of Park Slope / Flatbush (I say that as Doughnut Plant gets ready to open up next door, and Shake Shack just opened up down the road) just keeps getting better and better. As you walk into the Hungry Ghost, the first thing you'll notice is the relaxed atmosphere that just seems to come together in a very Brooklyn way. The staff were super friendly, and they've got a full pastry case with sweets including doughnuts from Dough, which also has its own shop just down the street. I asked about their Mocha (uses a chocolate syrup per the barista) and their Chai (which is a Chai concentrate per the barista). Not expecting anything spectacular, I asked which one they preferred, and we ended up flipping a coin lol. I ended up ordering my usual, which is the Chai with Soy and a shot of espresso (Dirty Chai), and it was just perfect to the last drop. I came back after brunch after those sweets in the case were just tantalizing and taunting me. They make most of their sweets in house, and the chocolate chip cookie is just to die for. You can be assured whenever I'm in Flatbush I will be making this a regular stop. They also have a menu full of light bites like sandwiches and such that are also made in-house that I didn't have an opportunity to try. Hopefully I will soon.

One of the best coffee shops in BK, preferably the location on Flatbush Ave, because they have a full menu.

You must have the Brussels sprouts!! I'd go back for those in a minute! I very much enjoyed my salmon dish. Lovely presentation and preparation but portion a bit small. However, the Brussels sprouts were so generous portion that even after sharing there was "take home" for us. The chocolate mousse was extraordinary! I don't even want to know the calorie count - but worth it!! My one negative was the chill of the Cabernet Yes, I know that's the trend but personally I prefer room temp especially in cold weather The restaurant owner was gracious, staff actually charming and accommodating We are recommending this place to family and friends and plan to return especially when going to BAM ENJOY!!

Walked in and was able to get a seat without reservation, but it definitely filled up by 6/7 pm. The place is dimly lit and the tables are quite small. For the food, we got their Brussel sprouts, shrimp, salmon entree and chicken entree. Our favorite were definitely the shrimp. But everything else when eaten together tasted a bit too greasy and felt monotonous in terms of flavor. Brussel sprouts were fried and held to a decent amount of oil, then the addition of tahini made it even more oily. Pan chicken we expected whole pieces of chicken but it was more like a thin chicken cutlet. The salmon came with a cauliflower puree which tasted so rich (with butter), but I couldn't finish it bc it was so rich.

I ordered a single burger and a Sudan spiced peanut butter latte, for ~$15! That's pretty inexpensive for New York City. I note this as some consider it overpriced. I suppose the food is fairly inexpensive, the lattes slightly higher than average. The "burger" comes wrapped in a homemade pita with diced cucumber, onion, and tomato, plus a few crispy, thick-cut fries and a yummy house sauce. It was a cool twist of the traditional burger and had a nice flavor. The sauce was like a slightly Mediterranean version of Big Mac sauce. The girl working as the barista and cashier was very nice and friendly. She had a nice presence and warm smile, made suggestions, and even gave a stranger free utensils when they popped on to ask. I think it's definitely worth checking out, and it's a good place for a cheap & simple meal that's still quirky and fun.

Perhaps I should have anticipated that, or my mistake in ordering. I also ordered a Moroccan egg salad sandwich which was substantive but surprisingly bland--sparse with the advertised capers and pickled red onions to give it more punch. I've always loved the look of the spot and the vibe--funky decor, outside and indoor facing counters to order, with some outdoor seating for people watching on Dekalb or heading nearby Ft. Greene Park. I see they are renovating and rebranding a bit and adding some burger component. While I didn't love it, I'd definitely give it another shot.
