Konditori has a rustic, comfy charm, which was the aim of its founders, a Swede and a Brooklynite when they opened this location in 2010. My friend and I stopped by for a coffee and bite to eat earlier this month. I had an everything bagel and a latte, which were very good. I don't know why this place has such low reviews. I came inside, stood behind 2 people in line and waited about 5 minutes while the staff of 2 cleaned, vacuumed and did everything except acknowledge the line. It was just before 7am. I saw the guy just shaking his head mumbling to himself "I'm not open. I don't care. I'm not open". That led me to ask, "are you open?" he replied "uh no. this guy in line likes to come 5 minutes before I open and just stand here" (referring to the 1st gentleman in line). So I left. Sure it was a few minutes before 7am, but I didn't look at my watch. I saw a door open, sign outside and 2 people inside at the counter waiting to order. What more do I need to question about it being open or not? With the abundant amount of coffee shops in the area, (with better coffee as well) customer service is almost as important as the coffee itself. This isn't the customer service I look forward to before having my first cup of coffee of the day. read more

After waiting five minutes to be acknowledged with no line, at 7:45 when all the bagels were out, the cashier quoted me a 20 minute wait for an *untoasted* bagel with cream cheese because the kitchen "wasn't open" until 8--and gave me major attitude acting like I was a horrible person for asking if there was any way they could make it sooner. This kitchen opening time isn't listed anywhere online or on the signage, and in any case the attitude of the cashier was totally unacceptable. Came here as I was looking for a coffee shop to do some quick laptop work before heading to meet a friend in the area. It's an unkempt coffee shop with wooden tables and chairs in the front, a printing machine (not sure why), and a couch in the back. Random boxes stacked in the back and behind the counter is not a really good look. I got myself a maple flavored Iced Latte ($6) from their flavor selections. I liked my selection and it wasn't super sweet as you'd expect. I sat myself with my cup of coffee by the window where there was a ton of flies flying around and chillin. They gotta take care of that. Had to move away from the window area although that's where I usually like to sit. Didn't order any food so I cannot comment on that. read more

Konditori offers familiar faves like Cappuccino, Lattes and other coffee delights and unique pastries. I wanted a quick pick me up, my first coffee of the day and a sweet bite after my post Thai lunch. Konditori bakes a Cardamom Almond loaf and I was going to choose that for my sweet treat until I learned it was ..sold... out! 'Bamar! ( that's bummer in Swedish). I opted for their Swedish cocoa ball covered in coconut. I ordered a Flat White to accompany it. Now, where to sit.. the space is open and airy. There is leather seating in back of house and farmhouse tables. I opted for a sunny table near window. Then took my first sip of my Flat White Wou! ( not a typo, that's wow in Swedish). The most delicious Flat White I've tasted! A velvety concoction! The disappointment was the Cocoaball.. it's lovely to look at but not much taste and very dense. I just watched a heavily pregnant woman come in and choose not to purchase anything when she saw that. In a neighborhood full of families, a coffee shop charging $5 for a coffee needs to do better. Found this new bagel joint near a laundromat. My favorite is always everything (toasted) with cream cheese. I know toasting bagel is not very authentic but I like the burnt taste of a bagel. Konditori also had Red Eye, coffee with an extra shot of expresso, which I've never had before. The first real bagel in 3 years tasted amazing. People are extremely friendly. read more

After paying for coffee (& tipping well) the barista said there was no indoor seating. "Oh, because of Covid?" I asked. She said, "No, we're remodeling." Not a soul was in there doing anything, remotely like construction -- so felt like the person just didn't want us there. We sat on a bench outside. Down the street from my friend Jenni W.'s apartment, Konditori was a convenient spot to grab a quick breakfast and coffee before our workout class on a Saturday morning. Maybe not the best idea to fill up before working our butts off... but worth every calorie in my belly (ok, i know that's not how it works but ya know what I mean). There's quite a line but it moves quickly and if you're like me, you need that time to decide on an order. I ended up ordering the maple latte with a brown sugar pear pastry that I can't recall the exact name of. They carry Dough Doughnuts but they had already run out of the hibiscus, which was one I really wanted to try! I ended up getting the sugary pastry that honestly was more buttery than sweet. It was sugary on top and soft, flakey and delicious inside. The fruit was sweet but not overly so. The maple latte was perfect - they use maple syrup to sweeten the beverage and I found it to be just right. You can ask them to use a little less syrup if you're worried it will be too sweet. There was plenty of seating but also quite a few people taking up the tables. We were lucky to score a table for two. There seemed to be a few people hovering for tables as we were getting ready to leave. I can see how some people could stay all day getting work done, especially with the free WiFi! Overall, I do notice some poor reviews due to long waits or poor service but my overall experience was just fine! read more

Bagel was, oh, I don't know - fine? Average? Oat cortado was fine. But $1.50 surcharge for oat milk, and $6 for 2 teaspoons of veggie tofutti on a sesame bagel is highway robbery. Walking down 5th Ave in Park Slope you're presented with a sea of coffee / breakfast options and Konditori is one you should definitely make a point to try. I got an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. The everything bagel seasoning was delicious and flavorful, the bagel itself was crunchy yet chewy as well. It tasted homemade and fresh! The egg and cheese sandwich also comes with a garlic aioli which brings the whole sandwich together. Lastly, maybe we went on an off day, but we didn't feel a very welcoming atmosphere in the cafe itself despite missing the breakfast rush crowd. read more

This place was really cute. Descent coffee selection and a number of pastries. The biggest sell was their impressive selection of gluten free muffins which were so moist and delicious! It's so hard to find a good gluten free pastry and this place delivered. The staff was really nice and was so patient and kind to my whole family shoving in to the small space for breakfast. My baby can sometimes leave a mess but they were very nice even before I dropped some money in the tip jar. Definitely recommend checking this place out. It was really good. read more

The cafe serves delicious iced latte & dough donuts. I came a little after 4pm and they told me all muffins and donuts are discounted to $1 and the bagels are 50 cents. Staff was very friendly, happy and hospitable. This cafe has a very laid back environment. If you are looking for a quiet cafe to study, I don't recommend this place. This cafe is quite lively in a good way! Love their music selection & the window view seating. Great spot for people watching. Came here for a small meetup with friends. It's not as big as other Konditori's I've been to but serves its purpose. It's a place where you can meet up with friends, grab a cup of coffee to go or kill time. Plenty of outlets for those that need charging. I ordered an iced earl grey, a bit pricey but I did notice they used two teabags of Harney & Sons. Staff was nice. After 4PM, they give sell their pastries at a discounted price. I got a banana blueberry muffin was, which was super satisfying at the time since I was hungry. I'd stop by more often it I lived closer to here. read more

Rating based on service alone. The woman working the register overcharged me for a drink (I ordered hot but she charged me for iced). There was a one dollar price difference, so when I looked at the receipt I said, "oh I think I was charged for an iced?" She pulled a dollar out of the tip container, started to hand it to me, and then took it back saying, "it's only a 50 cent difference." The prices are posted on a board behind her, so I said, "I think it is a $1 difference." Then she snapped at me, "Sir, I'm looking it up in my system." She finally gave me the dollar and then held eye contact literally glaring at me. It was a super bizarre, off-putting interaction, especially considering the fact that I was totally calm and neutral throughout and didn't even frame the pricing error as being her fault. There are thousands of coffee shops in Brooklyn. Next time I'll go to one where the staff isn't so rude. read more

I've come here on two occasions - once to drop by and grab a cold brew, another to sit for a bit with an iced maple latte. Their cold brew is okay, but if you're not one for plain coffee, adding a bit of milk and their brown sugar simple syrup can jazz it up a bit. The maple latte had a strong maple flavor, and was also pretty sweet. There's quite a few small tables inside as well as a slightly larger community table and a couple seats at the bar. In the afternoon, most people were on their laptops or doing some other busywork, so they seem pretty chill with having people sitting down to work. The wifi worked well, the atmosphere was good, and the baristas were all nice! I found both drinks to be a tad pricey but not incredibly overpriced - after all, the maple latte is one of their "specialty" drinks as far as I can tell. Tip: if you're craving some baked goods, a sign at the bar said that all pastries are $1 after 4 PM! read more

Just another New York bagel shop with rude people running it. There's nothing Scandinavian about that place. I was excited to roll up at 6:45, since I still have jetlagged from my trip to Denmark and Sweden. And the website and every social media site says they're open at 6:30. I walk in and some rude New Yorker just barks, "730" at me. I said excuse me and he says, "I'm not open till 730." Fair enough I told him the door was unlocked and it says you're open at 6:30 online. He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and could not care less. There's nothing special about this place. Go to any bagel shop. And by the way, Swedes don't really do bagels. read more

I have reviewed a couple other coffee shops and usually always open by saying that each have their own strength, with the exception of every coffee shop closing by 10pm (seriously someone could make a killing if they kept a coffee shop open until 11pm-12am). Anyway, if I were to rank Konditori among the other coffee shops in Park Slope, I would say that they are in the high-middle. They have ok coffee with the best bakery items in the area (seriously a huge selection for such a small area). As for their coffee, it's hit or miss. I think depending on who is working, you can either have the best coffee around or seriously re-evaluate if you are in fact drinking coffee. Positive note, this is one of the most study friendly/work friendly coffee shop in Park Slope (Clever Blend should take note). Unfortunately the space can feel cramped if it's busy, but overall definitely give this place a try. Initially gave this place 3 stars but after trying a few other menu items, it has definitely moved up on my list of favorite coffee places in Park Slope. I highly recommend the iced coconut latte. Give it a try and you will be happy that you did! read more

If you're looking for great coffee then please give Konditori a chance. I personally prefer decaf because I can't have much caffeine and it's very good. Won't be super expensive like many others in the area. Very friendly people work there in my dealings with them and there is a card loyalty programs so you get a free coffee after 10 times. Small but nice selections of sandwiches for breakfast or lunch. Prices are in line with others in the area for those choices. Just one Avenue up from the R train on Union and 4th. read more

I just walked in to another Konditori in Park Slope in an attempt to really like these chains. This is a message to the owners, I won't be coming back. I came in with my daughter just now. I asked "May I please have a plain croissant" in a very pleasant manner. This dirty looking and nasty woman seen here in the photo, replied "no you may not!" In a disgusting and nasty tone. I didn't tip her as a result. Owners, hire good people. Customer service is everything. This is truly the last time I'm visiting a Konditori location. Sad too ...because I usually enjoy the employees/baristas that are working. Since this person failed to provide her name, here's a photo so you know who I'm referring to. I can't help but compare this place to the nearby competition... Ambiance- fresh, new, new york buzziness that makes for good conversation and writing as long as you get a seat out of the bump-zone. Better than the stuffy, awkward Cocoabar and the murky humid abyss that is the Tea Lounge. Coffee- WAY better than "Cocoabar", "Tea Lounge", "Starbucks"(blegh!), "Connecticut muffin" and the terribly overpriced "Sweet Melissa". BUT, really not even close to the consistently fantastic "Grumpy" a few blocks away, or even the runner up "Crespella" right down the street. Neither of these two, however, have space to work. All in all, this is a good Park Slope alternative for those of us who pay daily rent at coffee shops at about a cup an hour for impromptu office space to work on websites, design, business ventures and dissertations.
