Great coffee. Stopped in for the espresso. Love it. Very cool nerd theme. Love giant Einstein mural. Great neighborhood place.

Medium red eye and a pumpkin loaf. Sadly, a quarter of the coffee wound up on my hand or the pastry bag during the walk home.

Need be cool makes a great coffee, with one of the better deals in the neighborhood: double or triple shots are the same price. I'm not a tea drinker but they have a wide assortment of flavors, and many specialty drinks (e.g. lattes). Need be cool has great pastries - lamingtons, Pumpkin loafs, lemon loafs, croissants, cookies, you name it. I've tried most of them. Need be cool has really neat interiors - both court street locations are inviting to sit and enjoy your coffee inside or on the sidewalk. There's just one thing that has bothered the heck out of me though, and it has led to MANY messy walks home - and that's their cup/lid situation. Maybe it's me, but every lid I've ever put on my cup from here has resulted in coffee consistently dripping down the side and onto my hands, sneakers, pastry bag - they ALL wind up covered in coffee. I guess I could bring my reusable mug and that would solve the issue. But I can't be the only person experiencing this. Please fix the lids. That is all I ask .

It's a cute cafe where sells organic food items and soaps. I like the name and music especially. The barista is welcoming and pretty cool to talk to. It's my first time here after shopping from IKEA. This cafe made my day!

Came here while visiting family over Memorial Day weekend. The matcha tea was made very well and we tried a few cookies and donuts on our visit too. Everything tasted amazing. We stopped by 4 times on our trip so that definitely says something! The staff was super friendly and the place was very clean. I also loved looking at the little knickknacks that they had for sale!

Love this place. It is a go-to for chai and pastries. The owners are wonderful and treat their customers really well.

The coffee was really tasty and the barista was so kind. The sticker with Einstein riding a motorcycle on the cup is a cute added bonus!

The best place for coffee in Brooklyn. Pastries are on point as well. Highly recommend!

People have left some odd reviews of this place, including a one-star review for the restaurant…read moreapparently being highly politicized--a vibe I neither felt nor could visually identify within or without the establishment. I ordered a single burger and a Sudan spiced peanut butter latte, for ~$15! That's pretty inexpensive for New York City. I note this as some consider it overpriced. I suppose the food is fairly inexpensive, the lattes slightly higher than average. The "burger" comes wrapped in a homemade pita with diced cucumber, onion, and tomato, plus a few crispy, thick-cut fries and a yummy house sauce. It was a cool twist of the traditional burger and had a nice flavor. The sauce was like a slightly Mediterranean version of Big Mac sauce. The girl working as the barista and cashier was very nice and friendly. She had a nice presence and warm smile, made suggestions, and even gave a stranger free utensils when they popped on to ask. I think it's definitely worth checking out, and it's a good place for a cheap & simple meal that's still quirky and fun.

I have wanted to try this spot for some time, and wound up a bit disappointed with what I tried…read more They feature a tahini cold brew, which features two things I love dearly, but instead of a rich cold brew it was overly sweet and icy--more like a slushie. Perhaps I should have anticipated that, or my mistake in ordering. I also ordered a Moroccan egg salad sandwich which was substantive but surprisingly bland--sparse with the advertised capers and pickled red onions to give it more punch. I've always loved the look of the spot and the vibe--funky decor, outside and indoor facing counters to order, with some outdoor seating for people watching on Dekalb or heading nearby Ft. Greene Park. I see they are renovating and rebranding a bit and adding some burger component. While I didn't love it, I'd definitely give it another shot.
