I've been here multiple times after a race at the park before heading to the subway home. Plenty of seating inside and some outside to sit at on nice day and watch the world walk by. I held off submitting this review because I really like this place but my last couple of experiences have gotten worse each time. About a month ago, I ordered via GrubHub and received the wrong order entirely. I figured it could've been the drivers fault. Two weeks ago, I ordered a pickup only to arrive to half my order because they no longer make 2 of the items I had selected. Then this morning, half the order I was delivered was missing and the half that did arrived was missing options I had selected. At this point, you have to walk in and order just to make sure it's getting done right. I used to recommend this place to everyone but not so much as of recently. I feel it's hit or miss when you place an online order and with the fees that these apps charge nowadays you'd expect better service. A little confused because the sign says Connecticut Muffin but the cashless register says Park West Cafe? I stopped by for an iced coffee ($4.60) and a bagel with veggie cream cheese ($4) after a walk in the park across the street. There was lots of seating available and the staff member was really nice, but the quality of food and drink was painfully average and nothing to write home about. I'm going to give a two part review, part 1 is for the pastries, 2 is for the drink I got. 5 stars for the pastries here. I've ordered many things from here as well as gotten a few Too Good To Go orders at the end of the night. Highly suggest the lemon poppy Pune cake slice or one of their bars. Moist, tasty and just makes me so happy. Try one of their cookies if your into soft cookies, delicious! The reason for my 3 star review is on the iced drink I just got. I ordered a iced matcha chai latte with oat milk as I can't drink dairy often. They used some weird oat milk brand that literally tasted so strong and kind of like fake oats. The drink didn't taste like matcha or chai, just weird oat milk. Not worth the $7.40 I spent on it at all. I suggest switching to Oatly or Trader Joe's oat milk. read more

Tension and Peace When I stopped for a break from work at the Park West Cafe yesterday, I ordered the freshly made Connecticut Muffin yogurt and Poland Spring water. I sat down next to the window overlooking the Square and the Park. The panoramic scene of summer leaves in the sun was soothing. But suddenly, the sound of broadcast from a cell phone from the table behind penetrated the scene and overpowered the music from the Cafe. I noticed that a regular--a man with a white baseball cap--was sitting behind with his phone. I thought of changing table, but I arrived 25 minutes earlier with my order. I decided to talk to him. I went to his table. Before I had a chance to say anything, he bursted out in anger. He yelled, "You don't like to listen to this. You should go back to your house, woman! F**k you, F**k you, F**k you!" He continued shouting hysterically for another five minutes, "F**k you! Go back to your house!" He then left for the sidewalk and began raving with a group of regulars outdoors. I mentioned this incident to the staff Daniel while he was raving outdoors. I find the verbal abuse to me as a customer deeply offensive and unacceptable. I am a paying female customer. Why should I tolerate such abuse? I also worry that such shocking abuse might lead to unexpected future incident. Will he throw something at me to hurt me next time? I would not want to associate danger with a delightful Cafe. I asked for resolve from the manager. Before I left, I picked up another yogurt for my family. The staff at the counter looked serious. He did not want any payment. He said that he had called the manager. Connecticut Muffin serves to be my beverage pitstop when in the area. Sitting on the corner of Prospect Park West, this shop (like all Connecticut Muffins) is abundant in serving baked goods and pastries. Recently, I tried their pumpkin spiced coffee which was very good and today, it was the Matcha chai latte. I was a bit bewildered as there was no hint of chai flavoring. Simply put, it tasted like a Matcha latte. But good. The chalkboard states that they serve breakfast and other bites, but again, I've only visited for beverages whether iced or hot. There's alcove seating with a few tables and just 5 tables on the main floor. During the summer, benches situated outside accommodates for limited outdoor seating. I like this place. The muffins are regular sized, not big like I'm used to seeing in the stores. The bagels are also a little smaller than I'm used to. The taste was okay, nothing spectacular, but it wasn't bad. A very fine coffee establishment. Its near the train station, has a lot of seating and the food is really good. I got a bunch of bagels from the office here and although it wasn't exactly what I was hoping I was still satisfied with what I got. In regards to their food, they have a good selection of different foods to eat besides muffins. For breakfast they have oatmeal, cereal, bagels, crossiants, bear claws, and of coarse muffins. Lunch they even offer paninis and sandwiches. The bagels and muffins I had hear are pretty good for their price and I can see myself casually coming in and getting something quick over the counter. They offer both coffee and tea. As for coffee they offer a variety of espresso drinks. I remember my drinks I got here were fine though I wouldn't rave about them. The think paired with the food here you can get a really nice meal. The inside of the place is very spacious which is pleasant if you just want to hang somewhere. There is a lot of seating and some places you can get a view facing towards the park. They offer wifi as well and the The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have to warn others though that this place is very casual and so you shouldn't expect to do what I tried to do a few weeks ago. I tried ordering a dozen or so bagels with cream cheese to bring to the office and they ended up making a dozen hot bagels with cream cheese already spread inside. I was really hoping for really fluffy bagels and cream cheese separated out but I don't think they normally offer that kind of service. I discriminated against Connecticut Muffin for a long time. I could never figure out why--maybe because I don't like muffins. And I don't like Connecticut. And both of those things together just didn't seem promising to me. But on a day where I needed to be up at 6am, with a dire need for a latte and a breakfast sandwich--Connecticut Muffin was there for me, so I am grateful. First off, they have a FANTASTIC Chai Soy Latte. Probably one of the best in the area. Secondly, if anything made waking up at 6am better, it was the lovely egg & cheese croissant they gingerly handed to me, piping hot and glorious. Their 2 feet "egg cooking station" behind the counter looks cramped and unassuming, but that egg was no joke--it was buttery, soft, and fluffy. As I sat in their cozy sitting area overlooking Prospect Park at 6 am, with that sandwich and Chai Latte, I contemplated discrimination and how something named after two things I don't like wasn't all that bad after all. read more

Last time I was in here I had a weird and bad experience with a staffer. I specifically and clearly asked if I could have a small coffee and in my own travel mug to which specifically said simply "Yes." Then she filled it with large coffee and charged me for a large coffee while criticizing my mug for not being to her liking. There are fresh pastries, bottled juice, package coffee, places to sit and read, the prices are affordable, and it is in a great location next to Prospect Park and the subways and restaurants and shopping. Now I remember why I haven't been here in years! It sucks! They are so slow and disorganized and the product is inferior to Terrace Bagels up the block. I was too lazy to walk up there the other day so stopped in here. I wanted to order coffee and a bagel but the lady walked away to get my coffee before I could tell her my bagel order, and then acted all put out when she came back and I gave her my bagel order. The line is always slow and disorganized and I don't know where they get their bagels, but they are just so-so. I know the reason there is always a crowd is because it takes them forever to serve one person, I just don't understand why anyone would go there. A good place to kill time before you head to your movie at the Pavilion. It feels like a different world than the Connecticut Muffin on 7th Ave (which is yuppieland with crazy strollers). This location is filled with people seemingly without food or drink, hanging out for eternities on their laptops. There's a good number of tables, but they're very scrunched together and always all occupied. Kids will come by and loiter on the stairs to the seating section and the staff will not say anything. If I were in junior high again I'd have more sympathy, but you're being fire hazards, kids! Go away! Teas and pastries are standard (yes, even my muffin). Free wifi - ask the staff for the password. The cleanliness of the place is kind of ehh - things behind the counter look haphazard. There was a baguette just sitting openly near where they kept pens... Do they even serve anything using baguettes?! To use the somewhat grungy bathroom you have to find the key attached to a giant metal spoon lying on the counter somewhere... and bring the giant metal spoon into the bathroom with you. We went to Brooklyn on Sunday to run the Al Gordon 4 miler at Prospect Park. At about 45 minutes before the race, we had to find a place to use the bathroom. We found Connecticut Muffin. I grabed a bagel for el novio. The place was packed with fellow runners. I'm sure they were excited at all the business they were getting. The cafe is perfectly placed right next to Prospect Park and Park Slope. They have a variety of bagels, muffins, and pastries. I didn't try the bagel, but el novio said it was good, but nothing to be excited about. It seems like a cute place to read a book or meet a friend for some coffee. read more

I just tried to find out if there are Connecticut Muffins in CT, but the first page of hits on google is pretty much just places in Brooklyn and NYC (the first 2 are Yelp- yay!). It IS on a "best of" for Connecticut, so I guess it's there, just not as big? Strange. This is the best Connecticut Muffin I've been in. Delicious coffee, vanilla chai lattes, pastries and, of course, muffins! The people are really nice and competent which is more than I can say about employees at other Connecticut Muffin locations. The little cafe feel is awesome and they have a bunch of tables distributed through out the place. Nothing worse than trying to cram into a table that's directly on top of someone else. This place is easy to find and they have a lot of seating and a great view of the park. But man, the bathroom, if you can call it that, is horrifying. And their baked goods don't look that great--mostly they look dried out and stale, with cracked icing and sad little raisins. The prices are about what you'd expect. I go here to meet friends before heading into the park, and so I'm glad this Connecticut Muffin exists. It's a reliably boring, tacky little coffee shop with mediocre but passable joe and plenty of tables by windows. But I wouldn't come here just to come here.
