Came in here a couple times. Got the vanilla latte. Decent. But the staff are really nice. A very welcoming environment for a neighborhood coffee shop. I'll be back for tea or their baked goods.

The coffee was good and the lady who took my order was nice, but the store has an offensive sign on its door. Actually 2, but I only took one picture.

Hot Java is such a gem in Long Beach. The seating is amazing--super comfortable and inviting, whether you're meeting a friend or just enjoying some quiet time. Their iced caramel macchiato with oat milk is an absolute delight--perfectly balanced, smooth, and refreshing. You can really feel the local charm here. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to. Highly recommend!

So I've been trying every coffee shop in Long Beach. This one is located on Broadway and junioeto Ave near the beach and the park. There's street parking and free wifi. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They got table, counters, and couches. They got a couple of outlets. They use more natural lighting and the door is open, so if you have any allergies, this might not be the place for you. I love that they allow dogs in here and have treats for them. I noticed the crowd in here is more older. They are LGBTQ friendly business. The staff is pretty efficient. I love how they have local art where you can buy and follow the artist. I do like how they close later than the other shops at 6 pm. It did start getting business around 4 pm but during lunchtime it was pretty empty. Also, the pastries are gone in the display. The price for coffee is pretty affordable for about $5ish. I got the iced Mexican mocha as they recommended that being 1 of the most popular item. It's pretty light. Why they lost points is that this cough needs more shots because I'm struggling to stay awake and I keep yawning, so there's not enough caffeine, which rarely happens to me. The other deduction is that the bathroom floor is dirty and needs to be mopped. If there was an option, I would have given this place a 3.8.

A lovely little neighborhood cafe near a park in Long Beach! I love how spacious and homey this cafe feels; they have couches and plenty of seating. Hot Java is ideal for large groups and if you want to do work in a group. The last time I came here, a group of eight people was at a table talking for a meeting. I also enjoy how they have a big screen to go outside, where you can feel a fresh breeze inside! It gets a little chillayy so bring a jacket during the Winter/Spring! The coffee here isn't the best, their Skinny Vanilla Latte is their most popular latte and it's okay. Instead, I order an iced oat latte and that does the job. Looking at their food selection, they always seem to run out every time I go! I understand I may get there later in the afternoon, but the food I order is frozen and not fresh. Lastly, their restrooms are musty, and smells like fermented urine every time I go in! They seriously need to deep clean the restroom.

    This person particularly low energy.

A very welcoming vibe upon entry, we were greeted by a friendly couple who answered our questions about popular drink flavors. We decided to go with a Hot Cinnamon Dulce Latte and an Iced Blueberry Lavender Latte. While waiting, there were plenty of chairs, tables, a comfy couch and even a bar area to sit and relax. Tons of board games, books and wonderfully mellow music helps make the experience feel comforting and inviting. Our drinks were prepared quickly and shouted at the coffee bar for pickup. The presentation was great, but the flavors, out of this world! The Cinnamon Dulce Latte was OUTSTANDING. So good, in fact, that my girlfriend stole it from me! Not to worry, her Blueberry Lavender Latte was also top-notch, with a smooth, not-to-sweet flavor combination. Friendly staff (which comes with occasional karaoke renditions from the Bluetooth speakers), a chill vibe and outstanding drinks make this a top spot in the area for hardcore coffee lovers. Check them out!

I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. The texture of the pancake itself was divine as it soaked up any bit of warm and fresh maple syrup while still maintaining surprising integrity and no sign of sog in sight! My partner enjoyed the buttermilk pancakes with no complaints and a particular taking to the thick cut bacon! 8.5/10 the only reasons for docking points was parking and the mocha muchaco being a little too milk forward. I stopped in for a coffee and a side of bacon, and my total was almost $20. For such a simple order, that's hard to justify. I understand food costs have increased, but the pricing feels excessive compared to other local restaurants that serve quality food at much more reasonable prices. My biggest concern, however, is the impact the business has had on our neighborhood. Since Zuzu's Petals opened, we've noticed a significant increase in litter, much of it appearing to be food and drink packaging from the restaurant. Weekend traffic on the sidewalks has become overwhelming, customers often park in alleyways or in unsafe locations, and it has made our neighborhood much more difficult to navigate. We brought these concerns to an employee, but were told there wasn't much they could do. If this business truly wants to be part of the community, I hope they take more responsibility for the impact they're having on the surrounding neighborhood. Encouraging customers to park responsibly, helping keep the area clean, and offering more reasonably priced menu options would go a long way toward building goodwill with the people who actually live here. I always want local businesses to succeed, but right now I can't recommend Zuzu's Petals based on both my experience and the ongoing issues it's created for nearby residents. Also beach cleaning isn't cleaning our neighborhood. That's no support to our neighborhood. Maybe have a neighborhood clean up day instead.

The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

I watched him make it and had to ask our server to confirm what was in the drink. The staff was friendly and welcoming each time I stopped in, and while service ran a bit on the slower side at moments, they stayed attentive enough that it never felt like a real issue.
