6. Pho Eye-Round Steak Large Size
Benjamin C.

This place was a wonderful surprise !! Perfect spices in all forms ! Ambiance was real chill & cool. The food was spectacular I didn't even get a chance to take a before picture of the brisket pho it was too good ! 10/10 recommend

If a comically tiny bowl (see picture) and a microwaved french bread chunk is worth 17 dollars to you, you will not be disappointed. If you've been to another pho place ever in your life, you might be disappointed. The soup tasted the exact same as the beef stew at QFC and seems to have been bought there rather than made in house. On the plus side, I probably won't get food poisoning even though one bathroom was out of order and the other had only remnants of soap and a sewage smell. 3% charge for debit cards (not just credit cards) is illegal, fyi. Edit: The owner's response is embarrassing, the picture says it all. I feel sorry for the staff who have to deal with someone so serially dishonest. Maybe it was a legit restaurant that got bought out recently? As of today, it looks like it's just a spot to defraud tourists.

The pho was good and 5 stars for the amazing drink that went above my expectations especially for not being a boba store. The coconut juice with coconut pieces and matcha cloud was so good i downed most of it by the time my pho came. Love the arch windows as well. The bathroom could be slightly better but same quality as other comparable restaurants. I def would come back to check out the other drinks. They also sell tea in a pot.

Combo 18. Pho Combination of Steak*, Brisket, Flank, Tendon, & Tripe Large Size

This places feels like Mexican shop turned pho place. Broth was on point and delicious. Cozy little hole in the wall. There's a whole downstairs section as well.

Hairy tendon. Nice.
Leyla N.

Had the #18 combination pho. The tendon was FULL of hairs. I have eaten a lot of pho and tendon over the years, including at this place multiple times, and I've never seen even a single piece with hair in it. When I told the server about it, he started arguing with me and said it was normal and I can't expect them to remove it completely. He pulled up Google on his phone to show me that it's normal, and even the result he showed me said that *hairs should be removed during preparation*! When I pointed that out, he just argued further and asked what do I even want from him. It was like pulling teeth to get him to even apologize and get it removed from the bill. To be clear: I had to ask for both an apology and the removal from the bill. Then he came by with some raw tendon to show me what that looks like, one piece of which had a hair on it. He compared it to pork belly and said that pork belly also has hair on it, which is normal. When I said that I've never had pork belly with hair on it, he said I just haven't had enough food experience. The gaslighting and doubling down is crazy. Used to like this place and come a lot and tip big, even though the pho itself was just okay. Thanks to this one guy's garbage service, I will never return. Take your money elsewhere to get pho that's not full of hair and service that isn't disrespectful. Update: he kept coming back to argue with me. When I respectfully said I wasn't interested in arguing over the issue any further, this regrettably only escalated his anger and he started yelling at me in front of many other customers that my behavior was why small businesses struggle. I told him I used to like supporting this place. I then repeated that I wasn't interested in fighting him and just wanted to pay and leave, and he retaliated by going back on his agreement to take the charge off my bill. Incredible. Thankfully the female server working the register finally agreed to remove it for me anyway after I pushed for it to be removed from my bill as per the original agreement. Small businesses don't fail because of customers like me who enjoy supporting small businesses and tip generously when they go. They fail (in part) because of unhinged behavior like this from the business owners. I would have considered continuing to support this place even with the hair-filled tendon (I would just order something else) if not for his conduct, and I'm upset and saddened that he made that no longer possible.

21. Pho Chay

Cute lil hole in the wall spot right downtown. The veggie pho broth was SO FLAVORFUL, could actually taste the anise and other spices and herbs and it was 10/10 on a cold rainy day. The dessert special (forgot the name) was a fried banana with coconut of sorts, it was warm and creamy and delicious. Not overly fried, just right. Sweet service too! Def would return

Quick and friendly service, good food, comfortable/not crowded. We very much enjoyed our lunch!

Amazing food, great service! Best place to eat when it's cold outside. Nice and warm inside

Vermicelli and grilled pork
Lisa T.

This small business is family owned. The grilled pork was a bit tough, but other than that vermicelli is what you would want on a hot day. Service was quick and they were diligent with refilling water.

We were in the Downtown Seattle area and saw the name of this restaurant and decided to stop by this place for lunch. We were seated once we stepped inside. The dining area was decorated with Vietnamese decorations and even had a tv playing Vietnamese music videos. I ordered their Pho with meat, tripe and tendon. The food came pretty quickly. Right about the same time as when I came back from washing my hands. The broth was light and the meat was soft and tender. The pho did have some decent pieces of tripe and tendon. The staff was friendly and looked like it was family owned. I would come back here if I'm ever back in the Seattle area.

Delicious banana with sticky rice!

I really, really liked Hot As Pho. The set up is a bit different as you have to call their number posted in the door in order to let you in. I think it's a preventative measure so no unsavory characters try to come in and then they can't get them to leave. If you do call they answer the door right away. I came here super hungry and got a good Vermicelli Bowl with Pork but was still hungry so I got a Pork Banh Mi Sandwich and it was fantastic! It literally melted in my mouth and was so very flavorful. Between the bowl and the sandwich two different transactions were done as you pretty much have to pay after placing an order and I wasn't sure if I was going to eat more so that is arranged a bit differently too. When I ordered my sandwich I also got their dessert too which was very good as well. Really good sticky rice and banana. Despite some things being atypical here the food is really good and service is very efficient!

The marine-like atmosphere was also fun and made dinner really casual and enjoyable. We got some of the best sellers, the bo la lot, the ma la beef cheek noodles, and the Hokkien wok noodles, and they were all a hit. I enjoyed the different Asian-fusion dishes they had from different cultures as well as their wide selection of drinks. Our brides ordered the Chaca La Vong Wok Seared Tumeric Rockfish and they both enjoyed it. My son ordered the Pad Kee Mao and I went with the Reckless Fried Rice and we both devoured them! I was expecting small plates like tapas, but the portion sizes were all generous. Everything was tasty and had a home cooked vibe. My favorite dishes were the JaJang Beef Pancake Roll and the Cilantro Spicy Beef. Both of them used the same braised beef shank which is one of my favorite cuts of beef. It's super meaty and flavorful with lots of tendon and collagen giving it a tender melt in the mouth quality. The beef roll had fresh lettuce and green onions all wrapped in a flakey crispy scallion pancake. The cilantro spicy beef was a cold salad with tons of fresh cilantro and aromatic chili oil. While I loved the beef dishes, some of the other stuff was good but I wouldn't order them again. I think this place is known for Peking Duck, but it wasn't my favorite. The fat on the skin wasn't rendered enough and I wish it were crispier. The meat was also a little tough. Also, a lot of the food was labeled spicy but I didn't think anything was spicy, not even a little. Overall, for the price, I still think this is a good place to try.

So you go in the corner of the restaurant and do your best to walk yourself through the menu. Everything costs an additional fee here. You want an egg? $2. Pork? $9. So for $14 you can get a bowl of miso broth with noodles, negi and raw onion or you can shill out an almost entire entrees worth of additional toppings to make yourself an actual bowl of ramen. There were probably 7 servers for a 500sqf dining room but all they do is bus you at the end and drop a check. It must be the easiest serving gig in Seattle. Broth itself was decent. The noodles lacked any character or flavor. My egg was cooked perfectly but was cold as ice. If you're going to charge me $2 for a single poached egg please use a sous vide or hot water bath to hold them at temperature. No designated parking means you're looking at another $5-$6 to park on the street. Simply not worth it for what you get.

We got the preserved meat clay pot rice, salt and pepper fried fish filet, and beef brisket and wonton noodle soup. The clay pot rice was okay - the pricing is fair but the execution could be a bit better. I felt like the rice was a bit lacking in flavor, and they only have the standard soy sauce, not the ones in a sauce tray that is usually a bit sweeter. The salt and pepper fried fish filet was good - definitely recommend that for the taste and value. The noodle soup was also good - the wontons were okay but I loved the beef brisket. Noodles seem to be handmade as the texture is a bit uneven, but I appreciate these types of noodles more. This place is a true gem, serving satisfying, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price. The restaurant looks small from the front, but space is used efficiently and they manage to fit quite a bit of seating into not that large of a dining room. Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much. There are so many other items on the menu that I'm eager to try, so I will definitely be back.
