This has been one of my favorite stores but not anymore. I finally found some dinner plates I loved there and 9 were 3.99 and one 4.99. I went to the manager Lydia and she rudley explained that it depended on when they came in and I said it is very confusing to the customer and all the same plates should be taken off the floor and priced 4.99 so it wasn't upsetting or confusing to the customer. She refused to hear what I was saying and I handed her the plates and walked out. Over $1 she lost a customer and a sale. It was very upsetting. read more

Disappointing experience at today's HomeGoods. I purchased 3 rugs and various home decor totaling over $500 at today's visit, and was provided nothing but rude and inappropriate customer service. The gentlemen/associate helping to take down rugs demanded I retrieve him carts, carry the rugs myself, and offered no support to carry them out to my car (I am 25 weeks pregnant). Smug remarks when I told him I was purchasing 3 rugs at the work effort required. I waited in line to check out for nearly 30 minutes as only 2 associates were working the front. This is not the way your customers should be treated. I rarely provide negative reviews but this experience was notable and extremely disheartening read more

This Home Goods is one of the best and I can only compare it to it's cousin location in Morton Grove when it comes to cleanliness, fresh atmosphere, the smiling faces of employees who are happy with management as are the regulars. Basically today is the day I came across some rather rare goods in our day and time. Love the selection that arrives between here and Morton Grove store. Keep up the amazing work and keep making a difference in homes and families. Also they do have one last jar of summer truffles at this location if anyone interested. read more

My wife loves going here, they do have a nice selection for homewares like bedding, kitchenware and even for home décor. Recently bought my wife a new cooked ware and a pillow case. And it was on high quality items, for a reasonable price. This home goods store is awesome. So much stuff to look through, you've got to find that special something in here. Something for everyone awaits you. and even their staff was helpful, efficient, very on point to their work, Knowledgeable and very professional. This store is well organized and neatly. Horrible customer service! The staff here are extremely rude. A cashier at the register gave me a horrible attitude because I was buying a lot of items that she had to scan. She and another staff member kept looking at each other and smiling. When I saw how annoyed the cashier was, I decided not to buy plates. I just wanted to get out of there at this point. When I went to put the plates away, I overheard her say, " Oh GEEZ". I said, thank you to her several times as I was leaving. She said nothing just had a very annoyed look. I will not be back at this location again. No wonder this location has only three stars. read more

Since I went to Northbrook to do some things, and since I have spare time to do other things, I decided to visit their location of HomeGoods. The store is pretty much the same as the other locations I visited. The store is clean and bright, and everything is quite organized. There is so much stuff that I did not really know where to start. Their selections are actually nice and they have unique items that are new to me. I do not doubt the quality of products and items they have because I've been buying almost everything from this store for years and I've never really had much of a problem with anything I bought, and if there is, it is not really something huge. What I like about this location is that they have a lot of clearance sales. As much as I want a product, I also consider its price, and even though the prices of this store's products are reasonable, it is still a great deal if I buy something from their clearance. They also have high-quality products and unique designs, just like the chair I found, which can be seen in the picture. It is something like a glass chair, but I did not really get interested in it, but it is really nice. The things I bought from here are all actually really nice and worth it, plus all of them are such a great deal! read more

$8 Sports Bras. I repeat, $8 SPORTS BRAS. This is some pretty major news considering there's a Whole Foods AND Half Price Books right next door that I patronize on the reg, yet have never taken the time to walk the 40 more paces to stop in here under the school of thought that HomeGoods only sold goods for the home. Schooled = Me. t As fate would have it, one day I was drawn in. Drawn in to the deals... but mostly the deals o SPORTS BRAS! (superexcited) And they're not just the sh*tty Spaulding kind of sports bras either. They've got some real heck-of-a-deal, quality over the shoulder boulder holders and I simply could not be more thrilled. Usually I'll go to Target, get the $16-$18 ones and feel supported but also feel like I'd probably rather have gotten a two orders of Spicy Basil from my favorite Thai place. Then I weigh it out- Thai food, or saggy chi chas. Thai food, or saggy chi chas. :::doing the up and down justice scale thing with my hands::: It's a tough call. I mean, normally I put Thai food above all else but then I have to take a step back and think about what I really truly have going for me in life. Candice- are you business savvy? No. Are you decent at math, reading, or music? No. Are you a natural beauty? No. Can you tell your right and left hand apart without holding out both hands to see which makes the 'L' for left? No Do you have breasts? Hyup and hyup! Well, that should be enough... at least to a point. Anything beyond that and you're gonna want a sports bra to keep those Ts looking as double Decent as nature (and elasticity) will allow. Came here the other day looking for some furniture for a screened-in porch and a sisal rug. No luck on the furniture front, but we did find a rug we liked-- although it came in a nonstandard size, a bit smaller than we were originally looking for. And at a much, much better price than similar rugs at Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware! The only thing was, the place was understaffed, and the employees who were there seemed to have very little experience. Everyone who was working there kept asking each other questions and favors; meanwhile customers were waiting in long lines for assistance. One employee even abandoned the customer service desk with a line of people there! Still, we got what we were looking for at a very decent price, even if we had to wait a long while to do just that. Can't really complain too much! read more

I stop by HomeGoods from time to time but I was on a mission yesterday to find things to furnish an apartment. I was scouting things out and this place has just about everything you could need from kitchen cooking utensils and pans to comforters and throw pillows and candles and rugs. Everything is reasonable in price from the most part and they have a wide range of colors and styles to choose from (a lot of coastal themed decor for the summer too)! Pop! (That's the sound of my HomeGoods cherry being destroyed). I came here looking for the $8 sports bras that Candice G snapped up. I did not find any... but what I did stumble across was a pretty hilarious collection of home decor products. Now, I can host people at home because I can buy a ton of very large plates, or cake stands, or chalices. I will come back, armed with a list of things I need in the kitchen, and shop my heart out in an incredibly wallet-friendly fashion. I looked at every single shelf at the store and had such a great time (bring a friend). I'll call this my reconnaissance mission to plan for future shopping trips, but I simply couldn't resist leaving with this adorable little painting I found of a dachshund being walked by someone in heels. The price tag on this little weiner dog art gem? $7! Totally made up for the lack of $8 sports bras. Dachshunds forever! read more

Okay so I'm definitely a fan of home goods and it's like a Target for me, I come in looking for one thing and end up leaving with a cart full of serious damage and my credit cards not too happy with me. It is seriously one of the better home good stores in the northwest suburbs as I've been to a few and this one I just love. First of all, it's not super crowded where there's literally room to breath and move around without feeling like the store is going to crawl up on you. I think it's really organized as I know the vases are in their section, bathroom stuff is where it needs to be, wall art and decor is to the left, so I can always find what I need when I'm looking for something specific. The selection is amazing, anytime I need a last minute gift and I need something in particular, I always know that this store will have what I'm looking for and then some. I seriously think the prices are very fair and a lot better than even my favorite and beloved Target so if you're on a budget, this is the place to go and it's so much better than any garage sale since everything here is new and in nearly perfect condition. Last time I was here I bought new dinner plates, a kids step stool that looked like something I could have found in pottery barn kids, but this one was way more reasonable in prices, I bought new candles, a bathroom rug, tons of gift bags of all sorts of sizes and colors and a new painting for my walk in closet (yes, i needed that as well). I just think this place really has it all and I can spend hours looking through stuff. I don't normally buy clothes here so I'm not really sure if I can comment on the selection but anything household related, this is the place to be. I love it and can't wait to go back and back since I love that they always have new stuff coming in. And your favorites also sell fast, so think twice before you pass something by. So I was visiting from out of town (Las Vegas) and was searching for Chicago sports team merchandise in the area. I came across this store which obviously isn't known for things like this. I asked employee Erkela if they had anything and sure enough she knew exactly where the last and ONLY local sports item was located. Lo and behold Erkela found me a 48" x 60" Chicago Blackhawks tapestry throw in the clearance section for $8. Erkela was friendly and helpful and went above and beyond the call of duty. So it was my first time in a Home Goods store. I didn't know what to expect other than I expected it to be a little more exciting. I mean the commercials just make you want to march right in there and buy everything!! So, here's what I think. It's kind of a mix between World Market, it smells like Pier One Imports and reminds me of the sale aisles at Target, Michael's and JoAnn Fabrics. It's a mish mosh of things. For example you'll find baby stuff mixed in with pet goods mixed in with cooking utensils and pots and pans. The bed linen department looks pretty decent too. There was a nice collection of throw pillows, though, I'm not one for things that aren't packaged in plastic if I'm going to lay my head and face on them. For the steal, I think the rugs are the best deal going! Some are better quality than others, but I did see a few decent 8x10 rugs for $200. Pretty good price if you ask me. Dining chair for $200 or huge rug? I know what I would choose. Other than that, I might be back for some cookie sheets! Overall, it's just A-OK! read more

I think it's geared towards the northbrook crowd, and I like that because it provides a nice product selection. You can find anything from kitchen needs, home lighting, bedding, to specialty foods. Terrible staff and management. Trying to shop on a busy Sunday and it seems liked everyone who worked there was stocking merchandise in the aisles. In one aisle a worker had a gigantic cart full of merchandise making it impossible to shop. She never looked up to ask if we needed any help. The same in 2 other aisles, one was stocking pots and pans so loudly I thought she would break something. When I went to check out 5 lanes were lit but only one cashier, a line with 4 people in it and one worker behind the counter (pots and pans lady) doing something other than checking out. I had a horrible experience at this HomeGoods. I purchased a "universal" shower head for less than $20.00. The one question I asked the sales associate prior to purchase is "How can I be sure it will work?" The associate explained that if the label said "universal", it should fit all. When I went home and attempted to install this "universal" product, it did not fit. I brought back the product but apparently the associate doing the returns owns stock in HomeGoods because she refused to even give me store credit. Dawn the manager came up and just brushed me off saying there was nothing that could be done. She didn't even want to hear my explanation about how the sales associate told me it would work. I sent a message to HomeGoods through their website and never got a response. Even getting a "That is our policy" would have made me think that they cared. Stay home and shop on Amazon. read more

I love Homegoods and have been to this location many times, as well as other locations too. I think this is the best location in the area - maybe it's the biggest too? Whatever the case is, I consistently find cute stuff here, especially seasonal items like Christmas cookie cutters in the winter and melamine outdoor serveware in the summer. I love the variety of things they have with everything from dish towels to cocktail drink mixes to dog beds to storage baskets in one place. I could see where some people would not like that you kind of have to go through the items to find stuff, and sometimes, they might only have one of something (like a plate you like), but if that kind of stuff doesn't deter you, Homegoods is the place to go. Oh, and if you ever need a last minute gift, I can always find something here. read more

Come here when you have the patience to look through everything. Often enough, the store is in a state of casual disarray. I believe there are good deals here but I haven't had the patience yet to go elbow to elbow with others to pick out the best bargain. Sometimes I wish there were staff members nearby to assist with questions but to get a good deal, sometimes you have to be left alone to keep those prices down. read more

I wanted to buy everything I saw. I started to pick up things I didn't even need. Story of my life, let me tell you. Lots to choose from for decorating purposes. Lots of great colors in things, awesome accent pieces, fun and chic dining ish, etc. I find that this specific Home Goods (haven't been to others so I can't speak for the lot of them) is a much cleaner, more organized environment than your typical TJMaxx. The GM at the store came out in the freezing weather and tried different options until he found a way to make it work. All in the freezing temperatures that we had today. I love this place. They have all sorts of wonderful home goods at discount prices. It's located in the Willow Festival Shopping Center. Minus 1 star since there just seems to be too much stuff that some items are either on the floor (which can be hard to maneuver with your shopping cart) or was just dumped on the shelves. I have been to this HomeGoods location a few times. Luckily I have always been able to find parking, and what I need. However, the staff here is rude. They will walk right in front of you or step in front of you to restock shelves or put things away instead of waiting for you. Also the layout seems cramped. People are always running into each other in the isles and it is hard to maneuver. Checkout lines move relatively quickly. I am definitely a fan of HomeGoods, but this location needs a little help. read more

Have had great luck at this store - and the staff is always friendly and helpful when I've needed something. I find it more organized than lots of the TJMaxx/Marshalls places and the selection is great. Even if I only plan on running in for one thing, I do end up going down all the aisles. We were able to pick up a few of the items we registered for at other stores at Home Goods for like half the price. You have to be willing to dig around a little bit, or make repeat visits if you're looking for something particular, but the discounts are worth it usually! read more

While I am a fan of Home Goods in general, this particular store has a very serious customer service problem in its rude and condescending store manager. I found a lamp I loved for my son-in-law but it was broken and the only one of its kind. I had a nice interaction with a cashier and another employee who offered to glue the lamp for me. Both assured me I could return it if the fix didn't take. It didn't, so I went back to the store the very next morning. Problem was, I lost the receipt--I think it actually fell from my purse when I pulled out the "paid hold" claim check to pick up the repaired lamp the day before. In any case, the cashier offered store credit, which I understand is store policy and I was willing to accept. But, since the time I owned the lamp was so short, and it had been defective to begin with, I asked if she could possibly credit the Visa card I used to purchase it. She said she could not, but would be happy to call the manager to see if he'd be willing to make an exception. What a mistake! The "manager". Informed me that not only would he not credit my Visa, but he would not take the lamp back AT ALL because it was broken and I had no proof I bought it there. All tags were on the lamp and I described the entire transaction from the previous day, including physical descriptions of the 2 employees who helped me. I am a very calm person and rarely lose patience or temper in these kinds of situations but this man was egregiously obnoxious. He basically called me a liar by implication. When my patience snapped and I began to threaten and raise my voice, he said I needed to calm down and he'd try to find a way to work with me. Then he literally called the male employees working in the store to the service desk one at a time. Lucky for me, the young man who glued the lamp the day before was working, recognized me immediately, and corroborated my story. The 'manager' then agreed to give me the store credit I would have left with 40 minutes earlier had I not asked the cashier who helped me in the first place for a policy exception. I think both she and the young man from the day before were embarrassed by the "manager's" behavior. I think Home Goods has a good business model and I'm a regular customer. This particular location has a serious problem with this "manager's" definition of customer service and I won't be back until it's resolved. I hope that happens very soon. What a shame. read more

I had purchased a sofa and loveseat from this store in Spring of 2018. The furniture had tufted back cushions, and one by one, the tufting started to pop, so that some areas of the cushion were tufted and others were not. Didn't look so great any longer. Being that it had been a year since these were purchased, I contacted a furniture repairman to see if they could be repaired. When I was told that they could not, I took a big gamble and called the Home Goods Customer Service department. They were responsive and helpful. They got in touch with James, the store manager at the Northbook store, who reached out to me himself the very next week. He was wonderful to deal with - polite and friendly during the entire experience. Since I still had the receipt, he said that I could return the couches to his store for a full store credit. I couldn't believe it! I have always felt that TJX stores have had great customer service regarding returns, but this was by far the best that I have received from any store. I was just treated very poorly by the General Manager of this store and I will not be returning until I'm informed he is no longer there. I went in to return a framed picture I purchased from the store 11 days ago. A few days after I got the picture home I went to hang it up, took off the paperboard corner cover on the top right hand corner and realized there was a 4 inch crack in the frame. I went into the store today to hopefully exchange it for another that wasn't broken, but they didn't have another so I asked for a refund (the policy is 30 days to get a refund with a receipt and I had the receipt and it was well under 30 days). The nice young man working the register got the GM and he started questioning me about why I hadn't returned it sooner, "Most people would return this right away if it was broken when they got it home. This leads me to believe you broke it." I explained that I didn't live nearby, had been traveling for work the last week and had just now been able to make the time to return it, he continued to give me a hard time, implying that I broke it. I reminded him it had only been 11 days and that I would have wanted another if available, but he continued to be extremely rude. He did eventually return the money to me, but told me that if it happened again I would not get a refund. Well, it will not happen again, because I will never again give his store my business. I have never been treated so poorly as a customer. I have nothing against Homegoods as a company, everyone makes hiring mistakes. read more
