Rather than removing the item from the table display to properly measure, she tried to hold the tape measure up to the display. She told me it was 60". I got it home and it did not fit. I called within 15 min of making the purchase. The woman then said it was actually 63". I said I had to return the item. She told me I can only return for a store credit! I paid cash, the error was hers, and I don't get my money back??? She said that's the store policy- credit ONLY. I was told I would have to talk to the manager the next day. I decided to properly measure the item myself. It was actually 78"!!! I called Adesso again. I asked the sales-women to repeat the measurements. She said 63". I then told her "I just measured and it is actually 78"!!! "So I assume I can now come in for my refund!" She had the audacity to still say I would have to talk to a manager the next day. I again told her it was her mistake and not mine. She would not budge. After 3 phone calls, about 5 minutes of going back and forth trying to get a refund, she says that her sales associate is telling her they can void out the purchase and I can return it. She made no apologies for their lack of professional conduct or for my aggravation due to her error. I will never shop at Adesso in Highland Park again :) When a business hires idiots - it only reflects on the store directly.

I continue to be so in love with this store. If you're into shops that will have you looking in…read moreevery single corner wanting every single thing, then this is your stop. Tonight I finished my holiday shopping for my niece and picked up a couple of beautiful gifts. The kids section contains high-quality merchandise. My hubby was literally double-parked outside, and I thought I could just run in and out, but no way. I wanted to buy the entire collection! From adorable natural cotton baby clothes to books, to stuffed animals, to toys, you will not leave empty-handed. They have something for every budget, and I think the prices are spot on for the quality. I truly admit to being completely obsessed with an adorable owl stuffed animal. Sooooo cute! Now, the best part about this store? Well, aside from the well-curated merchandise, is the owner. She's a total sweetheart and helped me pick out the perfect gift. She also gift-wrapped it in a super cute burlap bag with my choice of tissue color and a tie. Thank you...thank you. I'm so happy to see that this store is around. I need to stop in more often. Of course, not just for baby gifts, because they have grown-up goodies and cards too. Run, don't walk to this store. You won't be disappointed. Plus, it's super cute inside.

You know you have little ones at home when you pass by a new store and can't get a nursery rhyme out of your head. Yes, there's a new store in Glencoe...whoo hoo! I haven't done much shopping in town since Shirise closed their doors earlier this year (RIP), but it's fabulous to have a store where you can quickly pop in for a housewarming gift or just a little something for visiting a new baby. In the few weeks BlackSheep has been open I've stopped in twice to purchase: a) a lovely candle for the host of dinner during the jewish holidays b) a lovey for a new baby visit (the "real" gift wasn't ready quite yet) And of course I can't forget the few times my pre-schooler has dragged me in there for "just a few pieces of candy." Based on the fabulous candy display they have set up I have a feeling we'll be spending lots of time (and $) at BlackSheep. Welcome to the hood BlackSheep!

But when I'm looking for a new idea the sales associates are always super helpful and I'm in and out within minutes....with a beautifully wrapped home gift in my hands. My most recent purchases have been beautifully smelling candles, berry bowls and even cocktail napkins with funny sayings. It's super convenient that this is right in town. Whenever i"m in here something catches my eye for my own home, but with the exception of a napkin holder for our own powder room I tend to just shop here for gifts. Perhaps one day I'll take the time to do some shopping for my own home, but in the meantime it's a great spot for gifts!

They have nice things but the prices are very high for what they are. The salesperson asked me a veiled question "are you from the area or visiting?" It made me feel bad. I've lived in town for 12 years and I said "we don't look like people who live here but we do live down the street". To which she said, and it kinda floored me, " I don't judge people by their clothes." I should note we were dressed very casually. She was trying her best to size us up which is just gross to be honest. She exhibited the type of off-putting vibe that gives the North Shore a bad rep. I really don't know who's buying all this oversized white serve ware but it won't be me.

AFTER purchasing it and leaving the store, the owners texted me wonderful information they had researched about the piece without my even asking. The selection at Ravinia Books, Antiques Etc. is excellent but it's not as wonderful as the kindness and knowledge of the owners.
