Fun, eclectic store! An interesting mix of upscale furnishings and unusual items you won't see elsewhere- elephant saddle chairs, anyone? We were lucky to snap up a pair of comfy (non-elephant!) armchairs at a reduced price. The owners got us in touch with Juan, who delivered the carefully wrapped items to our home a few days later. The chairs look fantastic, like they are brand new. Just having a quick, easy answer to the "How do we get the furniture home?" problem made our decision to buy the chairs a lot easier! Love this place. Fun place to shop. Owner puts a creative spin on furniture. Brought in an old side table and she reinvented it with paint, grass cloth and an interesting knob. Who knew it could look so good?! Love to stop in when I'm driving down Milwaukee Avenue. Never know what you're going to find. read more

This shop is a hidden gem! They specialize in recycling old furniture through decorative painting as well as custom finishes. Located in the Sale Barn Square up in Wheeling, they are a bit of a drive from the City, but well worth it. The pieces they create would make a great focal point in any room. A nice extra - the prices are very reasonable! They carry a wide variety of furniture in the store, ranging from more traditional antiques to mid century modern pieces. While you can purchase anything off the floor that's already been painted/updated, you can also bring in furniture to be customized. When I was there, Melly, the owner, was applying grass cloth to a beaten up mid century dresser. From the back of the piece, you could tell it was originally pretty gnarly, probably stored in a garage for years. From the front, you would never know, though. I just love this store! I have 4 pieces of furniture that Melly has painted and/or wallpapered for me. I just went in to order another one for my Mom who doesn't have enough room in her closets anymore, so for Christmas she will be getting a custom piece ala Melly. Mitch and Melly are a great couple, lots of fun and just basically downright nice people who my husband and I are happy to call our friends. You can go there and they will give you all kinds of ideas for a solution to a problem you may be having with you decorating or they may make suggestions that you never even dreamed about! I have sung their praises to all of my friends. It's a great shop and changes every week and with Melly's great artistic talents you won't even recognize your old piece when she is finished with it.
