As an avid antiquer for decades, I've watched brick and mortar antique malls and stores dry up as internet selling takes over. What malls are left are often filled with junk or new stuff. Be prepared to be impressed by Three Stars. The sizable new location on Milwaukee has easy street parking and is worth a 20-30 minute visit easily. While the store is packed with quality mid-century furniture (this is your place if you need coffee, end or buffet tables) and art, it's also beautifully curated. Each piece is priced fairly (these are good pieces, so don't expect thrift store prices) and tagged with informative descriptions. Martin the owner was a pleasure to talk to and clearly takes delight in sharing his knowledge and love of antiques. Three Stars is also a few doors down from several great vintage clothing shops. So the other day I turn my truck around just to go into this shop due to the fact that I've driven past it 20 times before. Absolutely worth the illegal U-turn that I performed LOL. I walk in and immediately Maria is there greeting me with A big smile on her face; started looking around and talking with her about different things & my eyes couldn't stop moving on the vast inventory they have there that caters to all different shoppers. They have two different storefronts and a basement full of great things, things you only wish you found a garage sales on your own, but here they all are under one roof. Very cute store that is stuffed with things to look at. Inventory is true vintage ranging from 1960's to 80's. However everything is priced accordingly and there was not one item, not a lamp or anything, in my price range. Don't go expecting a cheap find. read more

This shop is one of the best vintage troves in Chicago and certainly the best in Logan/Bucktown/Avondale in terms of quantity, quality and cost. Martin, the owner, curates great pieces from midcentury up through 70s and 80s. It's a browser's delight and always new interesting items are popping up. I've gotten little things like DVD's for my kids for $1 to a big working grandfather clock for my brother, which he said was very fairly priced. Their furniture is not cheap but nor is quality. Just walked into this place to get out of the summer heat while strolling the neighborhood, and what a find! From antique jewelry and furniture to an old NES console to a chair painted with Hugh Grant's face (and signed by Hugh Grant!), Three Stars has an amazing collection. Spent about an hour wandering through the store, and could easily spend that much again looking around and checking out more cool stuff. read more

I called ahead and Martin (one of the owners) not only stayed late so I could buy the mirror, but gave me a ride back to my apartment so I didn't have to carry it down the street. This is a fairly new shop at Fullerton and Rockwell, they have a huge assortment of used and previously loved merchandise, which is right up my alley. They also have a great selection of Bars, barware, vintage furniture, clothing, they even had jewelry and glassware, which I love to shop for..... It is good to have a new shop to go to, although there is nothing wrong with my previous favorites, the pricing is pretty fair for their merchandise. It is not like walking into a store filled with a bunch of junk, they have interesting items that people can actually use. I have some knowledge of designed objects and Bauhaus furniture design, and saw that they carried a number of Wassily lounge chairs, a Bellini chair (which I had purchased for an incredible price) and some mid century modern furniture.
