We'd never had a real tree and since we lived across the street from Jayson Home, we decided to pick out our first live tree to make the season a bit warmer. Their tree selection was perfection. All the trees were healthy and came in many shapes and sizes. The staff was super friendly and helpful. When we finally found 'the one' it was love at first sight. We just knew. The staff gently wrapped it up for us and we left it there to pick up the next day. When we arrived to take our tree home, we were surprised when a staff member offered to carry it across the busy street into our house! We were prepared to make the arduous journey alone, but this man was a saint. Once inside, we grounded our tree, released its casing, and stepped back. Wow. After a horrible year this was just what we needed. The aroma hit us like a million happy Christmas memories years before. Thank you Jayson Home for helping make this year a little brighter for us and for your helpful staff!

It's one of those places where you pop in for a minute and can easily leave an hour later. This place is teeming with eclectic items for every room in the house. Even though the store is big, it has a feeling of being one of those small shops in a seaside town with great art objects and home decor. The kind of store you wished they had back home only it is back home in Chicago! My only quip about this store is the customers you run into during your visit. While Jayson's carries items for most people's budget, they do have items for those who have, let's say, extra, extra income. And for some reason the people I've come across in my path of perusing come off very snobby. That aside, I have found the service to be friendly and helpful.

I wandered around for at least 20 minutes; they have some really lovely options for your home here. I am still in the unpacking and arranging part of a recent move, so I can't really be buying much since I don't know what I'd need... but I did see a cool bamboo desk that I'm still considering. Wow! What a great find!…read more I just happened to notice a vintage shop while I waited at a stop light. I visited my son and we decided to headover to check it out. The shop is filled with fun things. I loved the kitchy light up paintings. There were a ton of ashtrays, cocktail glasses, artwork, sculptures, furniture and more. The prices were very reasonable too. The owners were so nice. Melissa was so friendly and chatted with us about all kinds of things. I will definitely return to see what items they have gotten in and also to chat with the owners again. This shop is a great place for anyone looking for neat vintage pieces at decent prices.

I typically shop at the Coral Gables, Florida showroom, but really love the layout and feel of the Chicago Showroom. I have always thought that "You get what you pay for" and when you shop at Luminare you get quality and designs that last - no press-board furniture here. Goods that last for years and years, and that equals Value!

I contacted Luminaire looking for lighting. I had a couple options in mind. The first involved…read morelamps that, while mass produced, still have unpredictable variations that are unique to each individual piece. Because of this and the fact that I needed 3 lamps in total, I wanted to see the exact pieces that I would be purchasing before committing - or, at least, photos. I asked Luminaire if this was possible. I did not demand this; I was prepared with a second option if this could not be done but Luminaire agreed to work with me and so I agreed to work with them. What a mistake. I primarily worked with Alexander Petrick. He seemed to understand the ask and to be helpful but, in reality, came up short on every promise that he made. Without going into too much detail, they were bringing the lamps into the showroom for viewing, then they weren't, then they were again, then they weren't, then I needed to purchase them first which I did, then they still didn't get sent for more than a week. In the end, six weeks later, there were only 2 of the 3 lamps in the showroom despite the fact that they had 10 in their warehouse. At this point I wrote off the transaction and Luminaire as a lost cause. I don't understand how so many things could go wrong and so many promises go unfulfilled for so long. It seems deliberate but that is crazy which only leaves gross incompetence and terrible communication. I am not sure which is the lesser of two evils but it hardly matters since neither is acceptable. I require a higher standard in my engagements To add insult to injury, on my final trip to the showroom, I dealt with Delia Ridenour. She appeared to take a perverse pleasure in informing me that my order was incomplete and would not be fulfilled at the time - a fact that she knew, but didn't disclose, the previous day after we spoke on the telephone about my upcoming visit to collect the pieces. She seemed so filled with ill will that I cannot imagine her being of service to any client. Overall, my advice is to avoid Luminaire. Most everything that they carry is available through other vendors, many of whom also offer reliability, transparency and integrity. The one thing that they did do right is refund my payment reasonably quickly. My guess is that this was due only to the fact that I had obtained an email stating that I had the option of return/refund at any point in the process (I could see the writing on the wall by that time). If you must work with Luminaire, I suggest getting everything in print; trusting their word would, in my opinion, be inadvisable.
