Painted Tree Kildeer - Walking around

I am extremely disappointed with my experience as a vendor at The Painted Tree. Despite joining…read moreover a month ago at the peak of Chrismas shopping, I have had zero sales, which is incredibly frustrating. The lack of foot traffic is alarming; it seems like hardly anyone is visiting the shop. The store's marketing is inadequate; I've never seen any promotions on social media to attract customers. When I requested a two-foot longer booth at the end-cap, I expected some accommodation or discount, but none was offered. I regret becoming a vendor here and feel that my investment has not been worthwhile, especially being tied to a 12-month contract. All of the staff are very friendly, however more work needs to be done by management or the head office to bring in more traffic. I have dedicated nearly $700 towards the purchase of displays and decor. I have items ranging from $2.99 upwards to $129.99, all of which are handmade.I can't recommend The Painted Tree to other vendors unless they improve their marketing strategies and attract more customers.

Such a hidden gem! I say hidden cause it's a bit tucked back in a strip mall. So I'm so glad…read moresomeone told me about this place. This store has hundreds of vendors under one roof. These vendor's sell everything from crafty items to furniture, antiques, clothes, collectibles & more. There are just so many vendors & unique/cool items to look at. Every time I have been here I have never walked out empty handed. I would say to put out at least an hour and 1/2 to 2 hours to come and browse. Store seams to be very clean and well kept. Everyone there is very helpful and nice. As for pricing it's just your own knowledge. Some items I see are over priced but a lot of times vendors have great sales. I also highly recommend coming to their events like ladies night, Galentine's & more. They really put an extra great shopping experience those days with treats, sales, refreshments, live music and more.

* Whimsical and charming vibes, atmosphere * Adorable,…read morethoughtfully designed décor * Beautiful artisan/designer jewelry and little treasures you can purchase * Organic, fresh, thoughtfully sourced food * Perfect for a cozy coffee-and-pastry afternoon * Romantic, Parisian/French countryside feel * Feels like stepping into a little storybook * A place to browse, linger, and discover unique things * Natural, elegant, and slightly bohemian * The kind of place that feels hidden and special rather than commercial * Very photogenic--every little corner has character * Warm, intimate, and inviting rather than fancy or stuffy * Lovely for finding unusual gifts or something special for yourself Overall: "A whimsical little Parisian-inspired gem--part café, part boutique, part treasure hunt." I'm impressed nobody has reviewed this place at all and it seems to have been open for well over 7 years according to Google. This place is a café with all vegan friendly food items. On top of that it is a gallery that offers classes too that you can buy art and support local artists. I had their spicy 7 tofu wrap on my end while my wife ordered another wrap. Staff here was absolutely friendly and courteous with us especially with no other guests inside. Prices were a bit above average with moderate wait times but the food itself was absolutely filling making the wait time worth it. They have a dessert menu too after which has a small selection of sweets. Overall, I was blown away from my visit here. Highly recommend coming back and visiting when you get a chance!

I am IN LOVE with the Mustard Seed. It first caught my attention because it is a fair trade shop…read more Turns out that it is run by volunteers so the money earned goes directly to the artists. The people who make the goods here are from all over -- from Chili to Ghana. When I purchase gifts, they often include brief information about the artist as well as the shop. Friends and family -- including my super cool teenage nieces and my mom -- who have received gifts from this store before are always excited when they see the familiar box. In fact, this Christmas I did the majority of my shopping here. They carry an amazing array of jewelry. From beautiful beaded necklaces to metal cuffs to swingy earrings. They also carry clothing (sweaters were a huge item this winter), colored scarves (I can't get enough!), wooden bowls, purses, blankets, rugs, wall decor, children's items and frames. During the holidays they even carry ornaments. I've posted a pic of a couple of them. The people who volunteer here are extremely nice and dedicated to helping the artists they show -- often women trying to support their families. But when buying here be prepared for a slow process. Because they are volunteers it's not like walking into a well oiled retail shop. But who really cares? It feels great to help out people who are trying to help themselves (hint -- it's the artist) and give gifts that have meaning to me and the recipient. It's been an amazing teaching tool for my nieces while giving them things they love. Hmmm. I think it's time for a new fashion scarf. Can't stay away too long!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Cinco De Mayo cooking class. We learned how to chop,…read moredice, slice and cook a delicious meal and enjoyed eating it too! You have a great staff who is friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you for having this special place right here in Palatine. We will be back!

II had an extremely disappointing experience with the French Finesse Class…read more The class was to feature Grilled Salmon with Caper Sauce, Grilled Vegetables, and Parisian "Gnocchi." We made the grilled salmon and vegetables, but the so-called "gnocchi" was a disaster. This was extremely disappointing because I was the most excited about making the gnocchi. Instead of making a more traditional gnocchi like you would picture (little dumpling pillows), we ended up with a soupy mess of polenta mixed with milk, butter, and French cheeses. The instructor told us that this polenta mixture would typically be baked in a pan and then cut in little squares like gnocchi (or at least that's what I understood), but in class we just let the mixture cool off and ate it as it is. It was basically eating polenta cheese goop - disgusting, and nothing like the gnocchi I pictured. First of all, the class description should have clearly specified what type of gnocchi we'd be making and if the class would not finish the entire recipe (note: writing "Parisian gnocchi" for the class is not sufficient because just by a google search there are different ways of making it). It's misleading not to clarify this in the description. It makes me wonder about the rest of their classes and what else they mislead people on. Secondly, the class was advertised to run from 6:30 PM to 9 PM. However, we finished (and I mean completely finished like by the time we finished eating everything) by 8 PM. It felt like they were rushing us out. They started cleaning up and doing dishes while we were still sitting at the table. It made us feel like they wanted us out as quickly as possible. If the class had actually run the full time as promised, we could have spent that extra hour finishing the gnocchi properly. Or we could have done the gnocchi first and while it was baking, cook the grilled salmon and vegetables. And that definitely could have been possible (I mean, come on). Instead, we were left with a below average dish and a rushed experience. Overall, this class was a huge letdown. The misleading description, poor quality of food, and the rushed environment made for a frustrating experience. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. And with the price I paid, I felt robbed. I do not know how they think this can be okay. To be clear, I would give the staff and my experience cooking everything else 5 stars. But the gnocchi and rushed experience really completely destroyed this entire thing for me.
