This was our first time at Cook Cork & Fork. We took a cooking class on a Saturday night named Date Night Latin Lover for my friends birthday. The front of the store has high end cooking and baking items. There are many unique items that you won't find at a big box store such as quality mixing bowls, pans, flavored oils. In the rear of the store is a full modern kitchen. The class has their own 4 person stations that were set up and ready to go with cutting boards knives etc. A cooking instructor takes you step by step through the prep and cooking process and then you enjoy a wonderful dinner that you all prepared. There are two tv's that allow you to see in detail the cooking instructors presentation. We had a fun time talking and cooking with the other participants. You can purchase beer or wine to accompany your dinner. There were leftovers if you chose to take some home. There is ample parking on street or behind the shop in the municipal parking lot. I would love to take more classes and hone my skills.

Finished product!

We got a gift certificate for Christmas to try this place out. We learned there were 4 people to a station and decided to make it a double date. We had so much fun learning how to make fresh pasta. Our instructor John was patient and funny. The helpers joined in on conversations and made the environment very welcoming. Definitely would come back! Food was delicious!

The soup was my absolute FAVORITE. So delicious

I did the meatless Monday cooking class with My dad. It was a gift for him for Father's Day. I was very pleasantly surprised with how wonderful this class was. The room was clean and aesthetically pleasing. We were greeted warmly. All the staff were wonderful and friendly. They were knowledgeable and helpful. Chef Lucio especially made the experience more memorable for me and my father. He joked with us and was definitely fun and entertaining. We had a wonderful time, gained useful skills and enjoyed our delicious meal at the end. Thanks for having us, we will definitely be back!

Tom Ka Kia Soup... my favorite dish of our Thai Me Up class... very unique flavor!

My boyfriend and I attended the Thai Me Up cooking class and enjoyed the experience and food. Our favorite part of the class was learning about Thai ingredients which we previously had very little experience with. The one draw back for me was that technically, the skills were very low-level (cutting up vegetables, zesting limes, and stirring in ingredients); we would have liked to learn something a little more exciting skill wise. I did like that we got to create all the dishes (I have been to other classes where the dishes are divided up among the participants). Alcohol was a la carte, nothing was included in the price of the class. Food was delicious and we got to take home all the recipes, plus they have a store up front with a lot of cool cooking gadgets for purchase.

The store! Kitchen gadgets galore!

Cook and learn together while pairing wines (or beers) with your meal. Instructed by their great chef/teacher, what a fun way to eat out! Amazing place, expert chef training and a cool store with tons of kitchen gadgetry (and don't overlook the wine selection). Just a tremendous place in Palatine. What a find!

About a week or so before the event, we were given three options to select from for the menu we would be preparing, so we ended up with pasta. Taste Buds Kitchen is located in a mall, so I had some difficulty locating it, but finally saw it. We were split into teams of four and the meal we were prepping was fettuccini, spinach/ricotta ravioli and a marinara sauce. Our instructor was Lauren and she was very nice. There were two ladies assisting her as well, responsible for the clean-up and helping with the prep work. Lauren was great explaining all the steps as well as showing up the prep moves. I love fresh pasta but never thought about making it (and still won't do it at home), but I had no idea how easy it could be with the right tools. Making the dough was fun and interesting, with each of us taking turns kneading the dough in preparation to make the fettuccini and the spinach/ricotta ravioli. Making the fettuccini was such fun and so easy if you have the proper equipment. I really enjoyed putting the dough into the pasta roller to flatten it, then into the cutting attachment to make the pasta. We each got turns going through the process, so I can say that all of us made the pasta and sauce. The spinach/ricotta ravioli and a marinara sauce were also very easy to make. Marinara I have made at home before, but the recipe we used at Taste Buds added a twist by adding shredded carrots for sweetness. Not something I would have thought of, but it really worked. Making the spinach/ricotta ravioli was a hoot. The very first one was a hot mess, but I learned and moved on to make perfect restaurant quality looking ones (IMO). Because we did a morning 2-hour session, tea, water and lemonade were provided for us. What we prepared was delicious and a nice early lunch. Because Lauren and her crew had made dough in advance, there was plenty of pasta for eating and to take home. My only complaint (if there is one) is I would have loved that we had made more of the marinara because it was so good and I would have loved to have taken more home. Overall this was a wonderful experience and the staff was amazing, cleaning up behind us, setting the table, cooking the pasta and ravioli for us. I think this is something I would consider for my direct reports as a team building event.

It's been fascinating to see how so many businesses have offered similar services to kids (& adults) online. And without having to worry about carpooling, sibling schedules etc she's able to squeeze even more into a day than usual. Flavorpot is currently offering virtual cooking classes on Tues and Thurs for just $5. They send ingredients around ahead of time so that you can be well prepared in time for the class. My daughter signed up for the flatbread pizza class this past Tuesday perfectly timed at 5pm so she could make dinner for the family. All info from ingredients to zoom was clear ahead of time. We had a little trouble signing in since the zoom was under my name instead of my daughter's so i suggest changing that ahead of time. This wasn't quite as interactive as the other cooking classes my daughter has been taking virtually (mostly thru outschool). For FlavorPot's class Chef Cristina demonstrated and there was a helper who was fielding questions from chat to make sure all went smoothly. My daughter definitely needed my assistance a few times so it wasn't really a class they can take on their own. After a lot of fun, big mess and we even set off the fire alarm she had flatbread pizza for dinner. She loved it- ate up every last bite with her brothers. It was a little on the burnt side (imo), but they didn't seem to mind She really liked the class and asked if I would sign her up for them twice a week. Twice a week is a lot since it's work for me and a big mess, but we will definitely plan for more in the future.

Although I did think the chef in charge was very knowledgeable, and the meals did turn out fabulous, I was a little disappointed with the class structure for a few reasons. 1. For the price of this class, I assumed that we would all be individually learning to cook each component - that was not the case as we were put together into teams of four where we divided responsibilities. So not all building block skills were able to be practiced by all team members. I had chosen this class because I wanted to learn these building block skill hands-on. However, if you're looking to meet new friends this may just be the spot for you! 2. Like I mentioned, the meal we made was super delicious. But in my opinion, it's creativeness / the fact that it wasn't more simple skipped over some of the true basic skills needed in everyday kitchen use. For example, I wish we had learned more about pan use / heating up / etc. And because we had so many components to the meals, some of the lessons felt kind of rushed where we weren't necessarily able to dive deeper into those questions since there were so many people per amount of chef / helpers I do think that this is a great org, but perhaps I would have felt more bang for buck in a more specified topic / shorter class
