I'd passed by Harrington Manor numerous times before and based solely on name and the fancy walk-up…read moresteps into 'the manor', I'd decided not to even bother heading in to shop, assuming it was far too fancy of home decor for my pauper pocketbook. This weekend I was in the area hitting up it's neighbor stores, the thrift shop, the liquor store and the Argentinean grill, and felt like I was being a real jerk singling out one of the four businesses on this strip to not patronize, so I decided to take a peak in... well, I guess that's only half of it. What really drew me in was that they had a bit of a weekend sidewalk sale going on and you know how hard it is to pass up a bargain. The items on their sidewalk sale table were classic, yet whimsical and awfully unique. We followed the steps of the manor upward and onward to find a really fine collection of surprisingly reasonable-priced items for home decor. The selection wasn't all that varied - it definitely appealed to a certain kind of taste, but not in a bad way. I was drawn to their ample selection of decorative animal items - a particularly fine selection of owl and bunny merch... but not the super girly type stuff that a guy might be embarrassed of, just a lot of nice, neutral animal gems. While mostly full of decorative items, they also carry a small selection of moderate-level jewelry and candles. It's a small shop but they have enough nooks that it actually holds quite a bit. Beyond the very affordable items inside (or at least the ones I'd flipped over seemed below what I was expecting as far as retail price), they really knew how to put on a sale. They had these really cool pineapple garden stand pillars that were originally $49 each, marked down on clearance to $4 and beyond some very minor scratches that you'd expect, they were in perfect condition. Based on savings alone I was tempted to buy. Moral: Don't judge this Manor by it's cover. While still slightly regal, it's remains humble in it's listings.

Should I drive my SUV with the back seats folded down? All the posts on my FYP seemed to suggest that I would hit the Halloween decor jackpot. I encountered several hiccups on the way due to my GPS misdirecting me -- one trip to the Old Orchard Country Club. I was so disappointed. Basically not a HomeGoods at all. Not the vibe I was looking for at all. This is a giant warehouse (somewhat) filled with indoor, outdoor, housewares, tchotchkes, etc. If you need an outdoor pot, a plant stand, a side table, towels, glassware, etc., they have it all, and so many kinds it'll make your head spin. There were lots of items on clearance. At Home is filing for bankruptcy and will close stores. Perhaps that is why the store had several areas that were bare. I don't know if this is one of the locations that will close, but they shoulda had their Halloween stuff out. I will drive anywhere, spend anything, if it means cool Halloween stuff.

The lack of foot traffic is alarming; it seems like hardly anyone is visiting the shop. The store's marketing is inadequate; I've never seen any promotions on social media to attract customers. When I requested a two-foot longer booth at the end-cap, I expected some accommodation or discount, but none was offered. I regret becoming a vendor here and feel that my investment has not been worthwhile, especially being tied to a 12-month contract. All of the staff are very friendly, however more work needs to be done by management or the head office to bring in more traffic. I have dedicated nearly $700 towards the purchase of displays and decor. I have items ranging from $2.99 upwards to $129.99, all of which are handmade.I can't recommend The Painted Tree to other vendors unless they improve their marketing strategies and attract more customers.

"At Home" was advertised on Pandora radio during summer. As a homeowner, I wanted to see what this…read moresuperstore was about yet didn't have a chance to do so. Well, I should say I wasn't really eager to travel to a brick-and-mortar store since online shopping for home is more convenient, and often times, cheaper without having to leave the comfort of my own residence. The first impression I had was how similar it was to "HomeGoods," except it was a larger space. There were Christmas trees and decorations near the entrance, three (3) aisles of chairs I saw next, and planters, gardening essentials, poufs and ottomans against the walls. I then spotted some sofas, loveseats, and outdoor furniture toward the back of venue. I then walked through the rug and carpet department. It was quite disorganized. Items were picked over and placed on the floor instead of getting put back on the shelves. Well, this phenomenon was often seen in many retail stores post-holidays or on the weekends. I wasn't shocked, but I knew perhaps the associates and managers there could do a better job on maintaining the best visual. In addition, I noticed some items were damaged or having minor defects. Hubby and I were looking for a planning board with the days of week that we could write on daily activities or meal-prep-related messages. The one we originally wanted to purchase had a broken hook. Fortunately, we spotted another style on the other side. With that being said, conduct detailed quality check before you commit on buying anything at the store. Many tables already had scratches, dents, or uneven legs. I guess we would meet these damaged goods pretty soon at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or HomeGoods with deeper discounts? No se, pero "we shall see!" The trip to "At Home" wasn't exactly a waste, even though I did have to admit the prices weren't exactly the lowest one could find. This is the year of 2018. E-commerce is now the sh*t. Therefore, I would certainly encourage you all to do more web browsing before cruising on the road.
