When I called to find out what happened they eagerly offered to sell me 9 additional rings to get me to the 12 I was expecting. They were not willing to reimburse their shipping to me nor my cost to return ship to them although their representative acknowledged the mistaken item description was their fault! It's a nice shop with some lovely items. What drew me in was seeing some nice photo frames when I peeked in the windows; they had some nice ones but not quite what I was looking for. They had 15% off Christmas stuff when I was in but I didn't see anything I needed (and other similar shops I'd visited in Uptown, Andersonville, Wilmette, and even down the street in Winnetka had 40-60% off Christmas items, so it was easy to pass). Staff were friendly and I was greeted by both employees within moments of entering, both happy to help me find anything if needed. If you're looking for a gift, decorating a home, or need advice on either, Madarine Home would not be a bad place to shop. There's a step in order to enter the store, so you may want to call and find out if they have an accessible entrance if you can't manage the step. Tonight I finished my holiday shopping for my niece and picked up a couple of beautiful gifts. The kids section contains high-quality merchandise. My hubby was literally double-parked outside, and I thought I could just run in and out, but no way. I wanted to buy the entire collection! From adorable natural cotton baby clothes to books, to stuffed animals, to toys, you will not leave empty-handed. They have something for every budget, and I think the prices are spot on for the quality. I truly admit to being completely obsessed with an adorable owl stuffed animal. Sooooo cute! Now, the best part about this store? Well, aside from the well-curated merchandise, is the owner. She's a total sweetheart and helped me pick out the perfect gift. In the few weeks BlackSheep has been open I've stopped in twice to purchase: a) a lovely candle for the host of dinner during the jewish holidays b) a lovey for a new baby visit (the "real" gift wasn't ready quite yet) And of course I can't forget the few times my pre-schooler has dragged me in there for "just a few pieces of candy." But when I'm looking for a new idea the sales associates are always super helpful and I'm in and out within minutes....with a beautifully wrapped home gift in my hands. My most recent purchases have been beautifully smelling candles, berry bowls and even cocktail napkins with funny sayings. It's super convenient that this is right in town. Whenever i"m in here something catches my eye for my own home, but with the exception of a napkin holder for our own powder room I tend to just shop here for gifts. Perhaps one day I'll take the time to do some shopping for my own home, but in the meantime it's a great spot for gifts!

They have nice things but the prices are very high for what they are. The salesperson asked me a veiled question "are you from the area or visiting?" It made me feel bad. I've lived in town for 12 years and I said "we don't look like people who live here but we do live down the street". To which she said, and it kinda floored me, " I don't judge people by their clothes." I should note we were dressed very casually. She was trying her best to size us up which is just gross to be honest. She exhibited the type of off-putting vibe that gives the North Shore a bad rep.
