As you walk in, someone, who almost looks like another shopper (but dressed a little better than you) will come and greet you and ask how she/he can help. I like that and I keep that person in mind as I walk around the entire store. They have nice credenzas (I haven't used this word, in like 8 years), dining room tables, chairs, beds, lamps, rugs, etc. I used to assemble furniture part-time, while I was in college, so assembling furniture is a breeze for me. However, some of the furniture comes preassembled, like my credenza. Whether you're trying to furnish an entire house or wanting something in particular - I suggest visiting here. When I called to find out what happened they eagerly offered to sell me 9 additional rings to get me to the 12 I was expecting. They were not willing to reimburse their shipping to me nor my cost to return ship to them although their representative acknowledged the mistaken item description was their fault! These were not custom but simply a standard order for merchandise from their vendor yet they refuse to stand behind their product or recommendation and accept a return. Get some things on the cheap. They also have a few sales each week. Basically it looks like a typical small thrift store, but the difference is the quality of what they have. It's mostly clothes, and a few knickknacks. There's also home goods like glasses and plates. Clothes aren't falling apart like at some places that are cheaper. The service is also friendly. Get here for some good finds and fairly cheap. It's a little more expensive than Goodwill but it's better quality. There's something to get as a gift or for yourself.

They had 15% off Christmas stuff when I was in but I didn't see anything I needed (and other similar shops I'd visited in Uptown, Andersonville, Wilmette, and even down the street in Winnetka had 40-60% off Christmas items, so it was easy to pass). Staff were friendly and I was greeted by both employees within moments of entering, both happy to help me find anything if needed. If you're looking for a gift, decorating a home, or need advice on either, Madarine Home would not be a bad place to shop. There's a step in order to enter the store, so you may want to call and find out if they have an accessible entrance if you can't manage the step. A seemingly completely unlimited selection of whatever you never thought you needed but now cannot live without. The owner walked me thru the store showing me wooden tables, measuring to see if it was the right size, and saying "I have this one also..." He was so thoughtful, even offering to build a tabletop top to my exact measurements. Don't miss stopping by this cute store for what he has and what he can build.
