Came in on a busy Saturday around noon for brunch. There was a bit of a wait but it was quick. Been to the one in Manhattan and loved it and decided to try the one here. Right off the start, the decor is vastly different from the one I have been to. This has more rustic feel to it. For drink, we order aperol spritz. For me, I felt like it had a better taste to it. For food, we ordered pork Benedict, a side of fries, Bucatini carbonara and spicy shrimp vodka rigatoni. The food are delicious! Just the right amount of food. read more

I wanted to try this spot because of the good reviews but beware because the service is bad. The waiter was not courteous. He did not ask us if we wanted anything else and just walked away. My friend had to flag him down to add an extra dish. The waiter took my friend's dish away very abruptly and didn't ask us if we wanted anything after our main dish. We did want waffles but decided it against after our experience. The dishes are mid. The burrito is okay, the sauce should have been on side because with the sauce, you have to eat it with a fork and knife. The Eggs Benedict were cooked inside, it was not liquidy. The waitresses are new because they gave us drinks that were not ours twice. The first time, they placed the drink on our table and took it away. Talk about a health code violation. Came here for brunch, and I was pleasantly surprised! The space is nicely decorated, and our waitress was super friendly,she checked in on us often, which made the service feel extra attentive. It really had that hidden hole-in-the-wall charm, true to its name. There were so many options to choose from, but I went with the smash burger and a mimosa. The mimosa was served in the cutest glassware and had a perfect balance of sparkling wine and orange juice,not overly sweet, just the right touch of citrus. The smash burger absolutely hit the spot. Crispy edges, gooey American cheese, and perfectly toasted, buttery buns,it all came together so well. The fries were also amazing, super crispy like they had been double fried. We were then seated right by the door, even though there were plenty of open tables inside. We all ordered burgers--great size, cooked well, but at $23 each they're definitely on the pricey side (though probably average for the neighborhood). Desserts were also on the higher end, but nothing really stood out. The brownie had solid chunks rather than being gooey or melty, which was a bit underwhelming. The prices on the menu look a little steep, but they give you so much food it equals out. I got the fried brussel sprouts and got three meals out of it. The tables are very small and it's a little crowded, clearly a popular spot. It gets pretty loud due to everyone raising their voices and competing with each other- it's difficult to even hear yourself think. The service is not great- the servers pretty much ignore you and speak with the minimum amount of words possible. I have social anxiety so it was fine by me but I know a lot of people would be turned off by that, so keep that in mind. read more

To be frank, terrible and shady. They absolutely don't care about customer service. I visited a week ago, and their chicken parma had a foul texture. (Thankfully I didn't get sick but I think it was springy "woody breast" meat) I panicked as I got scared of possible food poisoning and asked the server to take it off my table, and I offered to pay for the other 2 items and leave. I still tipped 20% for the wine and appetizer since it wasn't the server's fault. Next day, I checked my receipt email and I was charged over 33% in tip. I called the restaurant but they werent very nice to me and told me to email michael@parchedhg.com. The email bounced back. I also emailed tom@holeinthewallnyc.com and info@holeinthewallnyc.com but it has been dead silent. I can see Thomas replies to the reviews but I've waited a whole week to resolve the transaction discrepancy. They were out of so many menu items on Saturday night to begin with. It really feels like a hollow tourist trap run by some VC money. They don't care less about people who eat here or food safety. read more

My brother and I happened on HITW on a Friday morning just as it was opening -- We didn't have a reservation, but as it was early, there were various seats. The servers were lovely -- and made us feel right at home. Their playlist was also good, and not too loud. To eat, he has the HITW granola bowl and I had the HITW power bowl. They are very busy so I suggest making a reservation... When a table opened up, they said we could have it for 40 minutes because the next round of reservations would be coming in... OG burger is served on a brioche bun with lots of sesame seeds, crispy bacon and one piece of lettuce. Burger was cooked to perfection and the fries are among the best I've had in NY. The first restaurant I ate at in 2025 was a small brunch place in Williamsburg. I met some friends, had coffee, thrifted, and stopped at this restaurant. Hole in the Wall is unfortunately not an actual "hole in the wall" restaurant as they have four different NYC locations. The vegan options here were limited, but enough. I was eating with my omnivore friends so I wanted to be sure they had enough options as well. I ordered the vegan oatmeal for approximately $15. I'm not sure what it was called, I think they may have changed the menu because the "Apple Crumble Oatmeal" was not what I received. The oatmeal had blueberries, strawberries, dried cranberries, chia seeds, and sprouts. I was excited to try this place because I had (shamefully) seen it in a few Instagram reels, and it looked like a fun and cozy spot with delicious food. Unfortunately, I was served the blandest oatmeal l've ever had in my life. There was no flavor to the oats at all. The sprouts were an awesome addition to the oats and added a lot of flavor. Sadly, the sprouts could not save this meal. The saving grace of this spot was the payment system. My triends and I were able to easily split the check with the help of a website/app. I've never seen something like this before, but more restaurants need it. I was a bit confused about how the tip worked...! don't know if I was scammed or not, but it was cool! Service was also mediocre. In my waitress's defense, I also would not want to be serving young adults three days after the New Year. I sat at the bar, and was one of the only people in the place. I mean it was like 6pm ahahaaha. In the spirit of the Bourdain quote, I was fully ready to house a negroni. However, Morgan, one of the bartenders, began selling me about how fantastic their espresso martini is. "It's the best in the city." Then the other bartender, Danny, began saying the exact same thing with supreme confidence. It's like they were stating a fact rather than an opinion. I don't know if I have ever spoken that confidently about anything in my life ahahaha. Well I do make a pretty mean omelette if I'm being honest, but that's a conversation for another day......... I obviously had to order the espresso martini now. To my unanticipated delight, it came in a FROSTED glass, and I am a slut for a frosted glass. That attention to detail needs to be respected.
