I place a big order in for my birthday, and almost everything was delicious but a disappointment compared to the other amazing reviews of this place. I ordered the seafood ceviche which was a 3/5, the sushi deluxe (5/5), sashimi deluxe (2/5), the sushi appetizer (4/5), and the vegetable fried rice (4/5). The total all that, with tax came out to be around $77, which isn't a cheap price for a meal, but for quality sushi, it isn't unreasonable. The seafood ceviche was alright, but it was more of an expensive mixed fish poke salad. The fish was nice but I don't think it was what I was expecting seafood ceviche to taste like. The sushi appetizer was a good price for a variety of nice pieces of fish. The sushi deluxe was amazing, I would defiantly go back just for that, even though the place is 25 mins out. The sashimi deluxe was very disappointing, the cuts of fish were not the best, just not super tasty. The fried rice was good, but it isn't easy to mess up some vegetable fried rice. The service was decent. The lady on the phone who took my order seemed very friend and sounded glad to make sure my special request for my order. This is a pretty decent place, but the three star rating is for the food I ordered and received. I can't believe that I have never been to this restaurant! I am only five mins away. I was craving sushi/poke and found this place on Yelp. They have such a huge variety of menu items to choose from it took a while for me to decide! I made a to-go order for the Boeing Roll which has all of my favorite seafood: scallop, salmon, and shrimp (tempura). AND it's spicy and topped with a jalapeño slice on each roll. I also ordered a a salmon poke which came with cucumber and mixed greens and a delicious creamy sauce. In my to-go order, they gave me Katsu sauce, ponzu sauce, and spicy mayo! The queen's roll, 3rd avenue roll, Everett roll, and American Dream roll are all so delicious! Another great value is the salmon lover combo where you get a nice portion of salmon nigiri as well as a salmon roll. It comes with salad and miso soup for only around $13! The first time I came here was for a private party. There was a sushi buffet and it was not only beautiful but delicious. Another thing I like about this place is the modern decor. Quite honestly I am perplexed by all the hype. I came here expecting the sushi to blow my mind, especially after seeing all the good reviews and I ended up being pretty disappointed. The Calamari was awesome. Super crunchy, light and flavorful. The Sashimi I ordered was very fresh and delicious. The Unagi and soft shell crab were okay but nothing special. Now for the not so good... I don't know maybe we ordered the wrong sushi rolls but all of our rolls were just mushy, bland and had the strangest texture. The rice was mushy and the fish was mushy. Everything tasted the same. Also they put a ridiculous amount of Sriracha and Sriracha mayo on everything! We had the Sweetheart Roll, Godzilla Roll and Black Dragon Roll. Out of 3 rolls all 3 were bad. The Hamachi Kama here killed me. A good Kama is supposed to be crispy, juicy, fatty, unctuous and flavorful...broiled to perfection. The Kama here was was mushy, lacked flavor and texture. It wasn't crispy at all it tasted like boiled/steamed fish. On top of that you have to wait about 15-20 mins for them to prep this. I love Kama... It's pretty much my favorite thing to eat on earth... So I was pretty sad at this point. I don't know maybe were there on an off day or maybe they are still very new, either way I'm not sure I will ever come back. Great presentation, generous portions, and very friendly staff. My girlfriend came here on a whim and were immediately greeted and seated. My girlfriend got the salmon lovers plate which is 6 pieces of salmon maki and 5 salmon nigiri. I got their chirashi with 3 pieces each of tuna, albacore, escolar, salmon, 1 tamago and 1 crabstick. What really stood out to me was the thickness and the tenderness of each piece. It just melted in my mouth. :drool: My ONLY gripe with this place is the amount of dressing on my salad. It is not merely a feast for the stomach, but for the eyes as well +1 For the Ho's Hako Sushi roll itself Appetizer: Seafood tempura salad (complimentary) and Tuna Poke Main Entree: Ho's Hako Sushi Roll and Evergreen Roll Dessert: Green Tea Tempura Ice Cream The seafood tempura salad is a mix of spring greens with sliced tempura fried fish on top. I don't have much to say about this one because I can't complain about free food. The tuna poke was a nice touch, definitely foreshadowed a wonderful, forthcoming meal. The poke had matchstick cucumber slices mixed in with a light cream-based sauce and smelt roe throughout. I do appreciate the eye for presentation, however, the martini glass the poke was served in made it difficult to eat because of the height of the glass itself and the somewhat lower seating in the booth. I think they can achieve the same effect with a shallow stoneware bowl with the poke as an island in the center. Ho's Hako Sushi Roll is by far my favorite roll ever. Yes, ever. It has three kinds of fish on top: tuna, white tuna, and salmon. It has varied textures and the flavor just hit all of the right notes. The Evergreen Roll, I'm not so much married to. The Evergreen consists of shrimp tempura and snow crab, topped with avocado and wasabi tobiko (smelt roe). I dug the whole Evergreen aspect of it, hell, it screamed Evergreen. I am going to go out on a limb here and say their snow crab is what I call krab (imitation crab is spelled with a "k", kids). It is typically found in your household and restaurant-grade California roll. If there was less snow krab, I think I would have enjoyed it better; the flavor overtook the roll as a whole. By now, it should be known: if I am going to try out a place, I am going to go big. So, of course, I had dessert. The Green Tea Tempura Fried ice cream is served on a large plate with concave central to house the icy-goodness. The tempura ice-cream is about the size of a baseball. The best part, it's not all batter! The tempura exterior is exactly that, a shell covering the ball of ice cream. They may need to drop the temperature of the ice some some more because by the time it reached my table, the bottom was quite soggy. For this one, I say simple is better. Three peaks of whipped cream immediately adjacent to the ice cream ball piped in a triangle and chocolate syrup drizzled on the top. The interior is minimalistic without being pretentious. They have a small sushi bar, booths for more intimate setting, and tables for your larger parties. I think it would be great if they had reusable chopsticks to match the entire tone of the restaurant. Also, the cups cannot quite handle the temperature of the green tea. I like to sip my tea while it is piping hot and I can't do that with burned fingertips. I guess that's sign that I should go for sake next time? read more

Honestly, I was craving GOOD sushi and after reading a few of the reviews I decided to stop in. This place is not one I would notice unless I was looking for it. I am SO glad that I came in to eat. I think the pricing is totally reasonable for the quality of the sushi you're getting. That sushi chef is an absolute artist. Every plate that made its way to my table was a work of art and the food wasn't just pretty it was delicious. The salmon sashimi was so fresh and buttery soft, it practically melted in my mouth. It was honestly the best ceviche I have ever had. We then moved on to the rolls. Ho's Hako Sushi is not like any roll I've had....its not really a roll it's pressed sushi? It was new to me but very good. It's a little hard to eat...you have to take it from the side. The Third Ave Roll was like a rainbow roll w/ three types of tobiko. Had good flavor and was something fun and fresh. The stand out roll was the Manhattan Roll....it was so good it should be dessert. Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, and avocado in a soy paper wrap. It was terrific. This is the place to go if you like Americanized sushi. Although it's very delicious you might be slightly annoyed at some of the creations if you are a sushi "purist." read more

When we got there we were seated right away since it wasn't too busy. Our waitress got our orders right away as their menu was pretty easy to read cause it mostly had pictures on the menu which helped us decide what to get. We waited for about 10mins or so to get some waters..I was a little surprised they didn't give us waters right away. When my boyfriend called over the server to ask for waters she even asked "oh how many?"..both my boyfriend and I got confused and said two. I mean it was just us two lol. We ordered the seared ahi tuna salad, sexy girl roll and the queen's roll. We were a little bit disappointed with the seared ahi tuna as it did not look like the picture AT ALL like most did when we got our food. Also the seared tuna was BARELY seared and it was drenched in the sauce..I didn't like it, we definitely don't recommend getting this. The sushi rolls we pretty good and filled me up quickly. Our server was taking some time to get to us with water again and I think what bothered me is that when we waved her down we kind of pointed at our empty waters and she came and asked if we wanted waters (Really???). They did apologize for not being too attentive since they were short staffed, however that shouldn't have been an excuse since it wasn't even busy at all. The sushi itself was also good. I would say it's not as good as its local competition, wasabi factory in Everett, but a close runner up. Updated review for terrible delivery service and customer service over the phone! To be honest, they have pretty good sushi (just ask for sauce on the side when getting delivery). They also deliver which is awesome! Until, they show up to delivery your hot food and tempura to your work and then call you asking where you are!! What the heck, right?? We placed an order over the phone a couple days ago-- they gave us a delivery time of 40min. My husband CONFIRMED our home address for delivery! (He has ordered food from work before) Well, 40min later, the delivery driver calls my husband's cellphone and tells him he is at the receptionist desk. Um, well.. Ok that's be great if he was at work but it was a Saturday and he definitely was NOT at work. I called Ho Bistro to tell them exactly what happened and expressed my concern for the probability of getting our food cold and soggy (tempura) since the driver now has to drive to our home from my husbands work. He only works about 4 miles from home, but since this is the drivers second destination, this would have been a total of 30minutes of driving. When really, if they paid any attention to where the food was requested to go, it would have made it to my house in 10minutes max! The biggest turn off was when I explained my concern to the guy answering the phone and he just kept trying to explain himself! Me: "my soup will be cold" Ho Bistro: "actually the soup will stay hot for about 25min in the container" don't worry, please wait 10 more minutes, he will be there" Me: "okay, but what about our tempura" Ho Bistro: "we packed it separately so it is ok" Me: "ok, bye!" I was pissed! What a bunch of bullshit! Seriously? There was no apology for their wrong doing.. Terrible! After all was said and done-- soup was warm, NOT HOT. The atmosphere is very cozy inside and feels nice and inviting. The two employees we encountered were INCREDIBLY friendly, which is really important to us. I could not be any happier with the food I got from here tonight. They just appeared as an option on the grubhub app recently and I decided to give it a try! The projected delivery time was an hour and a half but it showed up in 35 minutes! Everything was fresh and perfectly packed, no spilled anywhere. While we waited for so long (excuse - 7 customers walked in at the same time right before us), in my mind it's totally appropriate to give something complimentary, to compensate for such a wait. As a group, we ordered their hibachi fried rice, chicken teriyaki, and Pork Loin Chashu ramen, which were delicious alternates to their sushi (although the fried rice is a little sweet for my tastes.) In addition, we also ordered their Alaska roll, Da Bomb roll, and several simpler hand rolls (cucumber, tuna, and salmon rolls.) Prior to receiving our dishes, we were also given salted edamame as an appetizer on the house! I visit Ho Sushi Bistro often, and my experiences have never been anything less but amazing and consistently delicious. Their sushi is very colourful and fresh with a variety of choices, and the plating is always done beautifully with ginger and wasabi on the side, while their service is always friendly and extremely attentive throughout the entire meal; the atmosphere is both upscale and inviting, with excellent lighting and many large screens to watch current games; even the location is conveniently located, although I'm probably a little biased since it's just down the road for me. My personal favorite part of this location, though, is the large amount of other viable options available on the menu, like their ramen and teriyaki; if you're not feeling sushi, I would suggest their chicken teriyaki. It's slightly more pricey here than your typical sushi place, but I would say it's worth the extra cost - definitely coming back here with a few other friends so I can eventually try the rest of their menu! read more
