Pale microwaved chicken and rice with no crispy bits or char.

Osaka served me absolute garbage today. I am quite certain that if I had eaten it, I would have gotten sick. I used to live nearby and Osaka was known to be the crème de la crème in the Mill Creek area. They got so popular that the owner had to sell because she felt like she was getting carpal tunnel. I know that because I found her in her new restaurant a couple towns over and she told me. She also said that they sold the recipes to the new owner. Granted this was about 3-4 years ago that I talked to her, so I'm not sure if these are still those same "new" owners or someone else, but figured how different could it be? Suffice it to say that this was nothing like the Osaka I used to know. When I walked in, it was completely empty, and I stood there for several minutes until someone finally came from the back room and asked for my order. I ordered chicken teriyaki which was $13.99 - which may be on the high side for lunch time but still reasonable. I wanted to upgrade to brown rice but they charged a whopping $3.50 so I stuck with white rice. She then asked me to pay cash to avoid a surcharge for using a card. One lunch teriyaki and a can of soda plus tip was $20 because I paid cash. As soon as I sat down, I heard the unmistakable beeping of a microwave. Oh, I thought... "I hope that's not for me"... But sure enough within seconds, my food came out. It wasn't even minutes, it was seconds - I hadn't even gotten my jacket off yet. Osaka used to serve dine-in orders on largest ceramic white plates, but this came in a plastic containers just like take out. I opened it and I IMMEDIATELY smelled the off putting smell of microwaved chicken. It smelled putrid and had no discernible char on it. Normally, I'm someone who will talk to the restaurant before blasting them on Yelp, especially if it's a small family owned restaurant, but this was so egregious that I just walked out and here I am. I left the chicken completely untouched and on the table just like in this pic. The rice also smelled funky. I ate the salad but it was over the top watery and I wish I hadn't. I'm certain I was sold the leftovers from yesterday. I know that smell and I heard them nuke it. And as I now sit here at Thai Bistro down the street, I'm still sickened to think that they sell food in that condition to people.

Beer can teriyaki container comparison. I'm not crazy. It's a tiny box.

Updating review to 5 stars. The guy is funny. He has funny pricing. But he's the only one I've ever found who makes a chicken breast katsu. His food is good too. And I've learned he a nice man. You have to order large size if you want traditional big American portions.

For the price its soo much food. The food quality is good and when you buy one entree you get a free soda! So every entree you get one free drink each. It is so good! Hope you guys try it out and enjoy!

YUM. I was in denial about this place right up until the food was brought out. I didn't think it would be that good. But it was! Portions are really big and the presentation of food is on point. I got the chicken teriyaki and it was wonderful! The chicken is fresh and cooked the right way. It has that slightly tougher outside with a soft, tender inside that is juicy and full of flavor! That's how chicken should be. They know how to do it here. The sauce is perfect too. It comes with sticky rice that you can tell is cooked the right way without shortcuts. So tasty. It also comes with a basic salad. All for just under $10. Great deal. I will be back to try the Mongolian Beef! Authentic place but not my favorite atmosphere. I give this place 4.5 stars.

I repeat. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Horrible I tried to order DoorDash again from this place and found bugs in my food. Literally I sound fruit flies in my rice please absolutely disgusting do not go here!!!

Recently moved down the street from this place so my girlfriend and I decided to give it a shot. We ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki/tempura combo after a coarse greeting from the woman at the counter. $15 for a rather skimpy portion and we were relatively satisfied with the quality. Being that I'm a people person, I'm sticking with my 3 star rating because I really didn't feel welcome at all. And idk if they didn't make it very spicy cause I'm white af or what but they certainly went easy on the hotness scale.

Bento box and chicken breast teriyaki ... Great teriyaki!!

Service was attentive as usual, small restaurant but well lit and more than enough room to be comfortable. The omakase set is such great value here. Super fresh seafood. The sake flight was an added pleasure that accompanied the dinner so well. Don't remember all the names of each piece :) but left very satisfied and anticipating our next visit soon!

Yet, it's disappointing to say that we've been sourly disappointed the last 2-3 times we came here. Not sure if it's management change or something happened, but Nakagawa lost its magic with us. 1. The service has been terribly slow and just not inviting anymore. After ordering, we waited easily 35-40 min for the food. I know it takes time to meticulously prep rolls, but after 30 min of just sitting and waiting, you can't help but start feeling hangry. And this isn't just a one-time occurrence - this happened multiple times for us. 2. The bento box quality. I LOVE bento boxes - it was such a treat to dine on so many different Japanese options, like a sampler box of goodness. Ranging from nigiri to sushi, from tempura to the soup, bento boxes have a special place in my heart. Yet, I feel like Nakagawa's bento boxes have sadly missed that mark. The protein (chicken teriyaki/katsu) tastes old and oddly mushy, and the portions are quite small, just leaving me wanting more. Don't get me wrong - the fish is still good. Solid place for seafood, paired with a lengthy wait. But Nakagawa just lost its touch with us, and driving that 30-35 min trek is not worth it for us anymore.

In short The vibe is all friendly neighborhood joint, but…read morethe fish (especially the sashimi) is excellent. Hard to beat this place. In long We've been meaning to try it forever and finally dragged our carcasses in here when we were coming back from an afternoon up north. Quiet Sunday night on Thanksgiving weekend, and we scored perfect parking and got a table instantly. So we're already in a great mood, right? It's a shoebox-shaped room with a few extra tables in one corner. Newish strip mall construction. You can come in from either end, which I would not have guessed. It's sparkling clean and well lit with some nice warmth to the lighting. Big flatscreens behind the sushi bar, probably tuned to the ballgame or the news or something. The menu feels comfortingly familiar. The usual apps, solid list of sashimi, lots of classic rolls and then a couple full pages of specialty rolls. Matcha for later. So far you don't feel like you're in crazy territory, though they do list hamachi collar as an all-the-time hot dish, which is cool. So many places run out of it right away and list it only as a special, but not here. The sake list is just enough--a couple of each type, some solid and reasonably-priced house options, a couple really nice picks. You get your sake right away and the miso doesn't take much longer. The takoyaki was delicious and beautiful. Lots of garnish, boiling hot, great flavor. Nice tako bits in there, lots of creamy filling. They garnish the seaweed salad with daikon and load it with cucumber. More places should do both of these things. The cucumber in particular enhanced the flavor a ton. Once the rolls showed up, things got better and better. The Love Hunter and the Amazing were both fantastic. Great combinations of flavors and textures, generously portioned and topped. We got some classic taki too, and that was a great contrast. I love it so much when places nail the classics and the modern. I got the deluxe sashimi dinner. For $36 this is such a value. The hamachi and the other tuna were both super buttery, the salmon had tons of flavor, and there were a couple other nice fish on the plate as well. It's great when you find a place you're super happy you tried, but this immediately goes into the rotation as an any-night sushi spot. Affordable enough you don't have to wait for a special occasion! Dig this place hard.

Highly quality sushi and great roll options :)…read more This spot is located very centrally within the Mill Creek Town Center so it is a good spot for a little day out in the area. It is a smaller restaurant so it may be a good idea to call before going in for the dinner rush. I went on a solo outing here for lunch and was surprised that they have an all day happy hour for most of their operating days (excluding holidays). The happy hour offered a great selection of apps and a good selection of rolls! I opted to try the smokey roll which was on the happy hour menu. This roll featured smoked salmon on top which was very tasty. I also ordered the deluxe salmon roll which was also very good! I recommend requesting a side of spicy mayo for the smokey roll. Overall, I was super happy for both of my rolls and the price was not too bad for high quality sushi!
